|Posted: 11/3/2013 7:23:32 AM|I love to buy supplies. I never use the supplies I buy. So I am going to try a "reward system" for purchasing supplies. I am going to keep track of what I accomplish. For every card I will get a 50 cent reward, and every layout will be $1.00 for single page and $1.50 for two page. I will keep track of the amount, and that will be the only amount of money I can spend on supplies, with the exception of adhesive (but I have a large amount of that unused also) So if I want to buy something, I need to first make enough to "pay" for it. At the rate I have been making cards and lo's lately, I will not be buying anything for a long time.
Wish me luck

I like that. I have done similar challenges, such as completing a certain number of projects before I can buy anything new. Good luck!

|Posted: 11/3/2013 9:20:57 AM|I have another reason to use up your supplies.. Well stickers at least. They go bad! I let my daughters have a lot of my stickers since I wasn't using them and a few don't stick anymore. The good thing is they're 4 and 1 so they layer them with other stickers so they stay on their paper
|Posted: 11/3/2013 9:23:28 AM|I'm going to try this too. For some reason, the make a certain amount of things challenges don't work as well for me. Money usually works as a motivator.

I used to do a similar system. I wouldn't allow myself to shop until I made X amount of cards or layouts. Definitely helped make a dent in my stash.

It's a great idea; I did something similar a few years ago and really weaned myself off shopping. Good luck with it- it's a great way to use up your stash!

I did this back in the day. There as a place in 07 called the School of Scrap that was a message board with "classes". One of the classes was devoted to keeping track of your items like this and paying yourself for it so you could buy new things.

|Posted: 11/3/2013 9:28:53 PM|good luck! that is a great idea, but I know I couldn't do anything like that... I've tried before to do something like this, and have failed every time.
maybe I could do something like this to 'earn' money towards buying a Silhouette Cameo, because I really do want one and I know it's an expensive purchase, but I don't think I could stop doing ANY scrappy shopping at all...
more power to you with paying yourself back with your scrapping!!

I started doing that last August when my supplies were taking over. I chose £1 per single page and £2 per double page. I'll admit to going 'overdrawn' at times, but on the whole it works for me.
I make about 20 pages a month, so I still get to spend, but I think harder about whether I really want to make each purchase.
Purchases of albums and page protectors are 'allowed' as I need somewhere to keep my pages once they are made.

I am totally starting this today. I know I can't go completely frozen working at my LSS so this method seems very reasonable. I like the amount for cards and layouts but what price would you do for a mini album?
