I'll be there and hoping to see some other Peas! {If you're wondering what True Scrap Pocket Pages is, there's info here on my blog}. Basically it's an all-day event this Saturday 1/25. A bunch of scrappers gather together online from all over the world, chat live, take classes from well-known instructors, win prizes, etc.

It all starts with a 'pajama party' on Friday night. It's been such a crazy week - this couldn't come at a better time. I mostly pocket page scrap these days and look forward to whatever these instructors have to teach us. I'll be Erika or Scrapbook Obsession over there - please say hi if you attend!

Erika- I love your blog, always informative.

Chiming in on the cost-- I am in a different time zone and seldom get the benefit of PJ parties, live chats etc in these types of classes. A bunch of us were debating the cost of online vs live classes recently. The consensus was we would rather have a costlier online class with great teachers/ content (like this one) than a live class with a mediocre teacher. FTR, though, we are having a live full day class with Tim Holtz in a couple of weeks (great venue, 4 sessions, outstanding food) which includes a class kit and taking into acc the exchange rate it is just more than twice the fee for this class.

BTW for these events our organizer has to factor in the cost of long-haul flights and accommodation for the teacher/staff as well! All of that being said, I don't think this class is well priced at all.

I would love to attend, but I am already signed up for a class at a not so local LSS (2 hour round trip). I would love to interact with others online for these types of events.

Maybe next go round.

Erika, been loving your blog, keep me posted on any exciting upcoming classes. I plan so I need lots of notice.

the price is only that high because they can give higher discounts on it. it was $100 discout for quite some time, so the event is $49 and i wouldn't expect more from it than beeing worth those $49.

as i can't join the live part (which i would LOVE to!), i'll wait for the classes to be available individually if reviews about them are good.

mandy and treyaut, I agree about the $149 - even though I still think that price is worth it, I wouldn't be able to afford that. I did joke on my blog in Nov. about nabbing the Black Friday price. It was over $100 off or only $47. That comes to $7 per class with everything else being free. That's cheaper than most other online or in-person classes I know of. The a la carte option is always great after the fact, too.

treyaut, there is no physical scrapbook product included. The price includes the classes, pajama party, discounts to online stores, sometimes free downloads and M&Ts, and a pretty good chance of winning some nice prizes. The sponsors for this event are Simple Stories, Project Life, Gossamer Blue and Studio Calico. Two Peas has sponsored in the past, i.e., there are usually some pretty cool prizes. If you signed up on Black Friday, you got a free iPhone photos class, too.

They send out a supply list ahead of time that has all the products the instructors use, in case you want to duplicate what they're doing. There's a Simon Says Stamp discount code included. But Lain encourages you to use your stash.

I could maybe see paying $50, but $149, not happening. I must have misread my e-mail, I thought it was only discounted to $100, not discounted BY $100 earlier.

If they can sell it for that price, more power to them. I know how much work goes into planning things, and they all deserve to make a living at it - I don't mean to devalue Lain or anyone else trying to make their living.

Sometimes though, I wonder if they wouldn't have dramatically higher attendance with a lower price point, thus by dropping the price and increasing the volume, still make the same profit. But what do I know...the business DH & I own isn't a scrappy business.

My sister and I are both "attending" and we'll be skyping with each other while the classes are going. We live in different states, so this will be like going to the classes together. (We'll each have a laptop and an iPad to make that work.)

I'm looking forward to it. Unfortunately, I have to miss half of the classes live since we are going out with friends, but I'm excited by all of it.

Thanks - glad you like the blog and find it helpful!

I agree with all you said about classes and prices. It's all relative I guess and really depends on how the cost breaks down per class, what you receive, and if you have the time/money for travel (which I don't). I don't have an LSS so online classes are my only option. With Lain's events like True Scrap, LOAD, etc., there are always discounts for signing up early so I pay attention and also try to post so others see them as well. For me, it's like utilizing Two Peas - where scrappers say they try to buy from the store here to support all they give us for free. I'm the same way with these classes - she gives away so much content for free (monthly scrapinars, Scrapbook Improv, podcast, her website, etc) that I try to support that by taking her paid classes as well. It also supports these great instructors.

That's a beautiful discount. WOW!!! I don't do much Pocket Page Scrapbooking but if I did, I'd definitely take advantage of the discount code. That's very generous and tempting.

I hope everyone who takes the class have fun, learn lots and make memorable pages.

I just don't see why people think I'm too patronizing (that means I treat them as if they were stupid.)

No. I am going to a weekend crop at a really nice retreat center this weekend for $160. That includes food, my room for 2 nights and some type of door prize.

Nothing against Lain, but I think she tends to overprice her events. Then offers discounts to make people think they are getting a bargain with the discount codes. So if I was going to do one of her events, I'd sign up for her newsletter and wait for the discount codes.

Well, doesn't that figure I can't get online with the PJ Party. Is anyone else able to log in or having trouble?

ETA: Never mind. I switched from Safari to Chrome and got on no problem.

Same here I prefer my retreats for that price or even close to that price. I also don't like things that are way overpriced so they can give out coupons to bring it down to the real value.

I took one class with this organizer and couldn't take the excessive emails that came with it.
