|Posted: 2/4/2014 3:21:25 PM|I am headed to an expo in a few months and want to bring my silhouette and laptop. I currently have them housed in the rolling tote (smalls crappy space!). How do you keep yours at the expo when you aren't in the room? Locked in the bag? Open on the table? With you? Thanks

I can't really help with your question. have never even tried to bring mine. Typically at those crops, there is very little space and a lot going on! The only way I ever get anything done is to preplan my layouts. Otherwise, I work on unfinished class projects.

Have never scrapped at an expo, but I have been to a few large crops. My friend has a Cricut and she'll leave it in the room when we go for meals, but brings it with her when we head up to the room for the nite.

When I've been at those events, most people leave items out during the day but take valuable stuff with them at night. You get to know your table neighbors and everyone watches out for each other, in my experience. I would ask how big each scrapper's table space is and what the access to electrical plugs will be, so that you can plan.

Ive never been to an expo but I leave my Cricut out at the 3day crop I go to. They have someone in the room all night.

When I have cropped at an expo I went with friends and we filled a table. We did our shopping first then unpacked our things for the crop. There is a free bag check area that seems to have good security where we left our stuff while we shopped. After we unpacked there was always one of us at the table so that nothing was left unsupervised.
At the OC Expo it is all one huge room but the crop area is sectioned off. Only those cropping can enter.
|Posted: 2/4/2014 5:37:45 PM|I went to one overnight weekend crop and there was supposed to always be someone supervising the area we were using at the hotel where it was located, however I'm an early riser and each morning, I found the teenage daughter of the hostess sleeping on a couple of chairs while on supervision duty.
Can't really blame the kid, it was a poor decision on the hostess's part, but I would not leave my cutter or laptop behind...they'd come back to my room with me at bedtime.

I haven't been to an Expo that had room for me to bring a cutter/laptop. I do go to weekend crops, but a group of us rent a retreat center and we all brings ours and just lock up the crop room at night.

I go to several weekend crops and I leave my Cameo (if I bring it)but my laptop comes back to the hotel room with me at night. All the crops I go to have people "on duty" in the crop room 24 hours, but I just feel better taking it with me. Sometimes I bring it but leave it in the car until I'm ready to use it. I've had several weekends where I bring it in and never use it!

At the Expo crops I have been to, you have to pay extra for power, and you have just enough room to scrap. I would have to unpack and set it up each time I used it and then repack it to have enough room to scrap. Other crops are more generous with the space so I would look into the amount of space I had before I decided to bring something like that along. I would not consider anything fully secure overnight and would bring that type of stuff back to the room with me

Weather premitting I would leave that stuff in the car... since the expo has so many people walking around. I think you can go and come as you please with a hand stamp/ armband. But like someone else said there are bag checks at the Scrapbook Expo that looked pretty good. And I'm not sure how much you use the silhouette, but they sometimes have those machines at the shows. And croppers can use them.
Good luck and have fun!!!

Be really sure there is enough room to both set up and scrap. Every time I hear about those crops, it's because people complain that there isn't enough room.
I would plan ahead and make up your own kits. That way, you will maximize your time and space and actually get something done.

I don't take machines. I prekit my pages and cut what's necessary before I leave home and put it in the kit, sometimes already on Xyron strips so all I need to do is peel and stick.
