I missed the CKC here last year because I was on a work trip, so was last at one in 2012. I am going to another city for a weekend and might organize my trip around the CKC there if they are still worth going to, but another weekend that month is mildly more convenient. Has anyone been to one in the past year? Are they still at all worth going to?

I went to CKC Charlotte in 2013. I hadn't been for several years and my previous conventions were CKC Valley Forge and Memories Expos in NJ. I took classes with Denise Peterson and loved them both. IMO she had one of the best booths on the exhibit floor also. My Quick Quotes class was also good, as usual however they had a very small presence overall. In general the classes were mixed, but more expensive than in the past. More mixed media, stamping, canvas, etc. The show floor had far fewer exhibitors than in past years and I didn't see the bargains I've purchased in the past. I did see a few new vendors that I liked.. I didn't go to the crop(s) because I was so disappointed in recent years. I don't know if I'll go back this year. I've heard good things about the GASC and would like to check that out if at all possible.

Hope this helps.

I go every year. I've taken classes the past two years, but this year no classes are appealing. I do plan to attend CKC Lancaster because I want to support them and keep the conventions coming to our area. I also attend Scrapbook Expo (PA - April this year and NJ - Sept this year).

Yup, I went to CKC Manchester last year and have booked it again this year. Last year (and this year) we stayed over and we took a class (this year, two classes). Such a fun weekend shopping and crafting with my friend! I thought it was definitely worth going to last year - they filled the room with vendors and there was enough for us to spend 2 days shopping, for sure.

I'm heading up to Manchester tomorrow for the Thursday afternoon class. My bff & I will be taking 4-5 classes and shopping!

Embellishments will not be at the vendor's mkt, but will be at the Friday night crop with a limited amount of stuff. This is one of the first year that we are not taking one of her classes. So if you are and you want the 2nd pages, you have to go the crop (but you don't need a ticket for the crop).

See you all there!!

I went to CKC Seattle this year. Took three classes, two of which I really loved. Did some shopping. Would go back next year.

I went in Hampton, VA in 2013 and I will be going to CKC Lancaster this summer.

I don't really care how 'good' it is anymore, as long as there is a place to buy stuff.

I went to CKC-Portland earlier this month. I took three classes, two of which were sponsored by CK and they were awesome! Lots of product to take home and some really useful techniques. The shopping was good; smaller than in the early days, but a good selection of new or newish product. I am hoping to go to CKC-Seattle later in the year.

I'm going to Manchester for the 3rd year this Fri/Sat. It's the only scrapbook convention anywhere near me so I won't miss it!

Haha, whoops! I didn't realize i had previously commented on this thread!

I went to CKC Kansas City last October and I couldn't tell you about any classes but the vendor fair just well....sucked. They should have paid me $10 to go there. There was less than 50 vendors there and by the time you subtracted Origami Owl, Usbourne books, 31 Bags and Michaels which only had a banner in their booth, the amount of actual supplies being sold was minimal. I took a friend who had never been and was embarrassed to have talked it up to her.

I'm also going to NH this weekend but only for the day since none of the classes appealed to me. So my cousin and I will be going to shop at the vendor fair....so excited!

Went last month to St. Louis for the seventh year in a row. Vendor Fair was definitely smaller. First year we went there were about 70 vendors, this year less than 50. Several of the larger venders haven't been in a couple of years. Only took two classes this year. Really liked the creative photography class I took and picked up some great tips. Provided they have it next year I will go just because it is a girls weekend away and I like to see product before I buy it.

That said, I've been doing the CKC events for over 10 years and they are definitely smaller than they used to be. But, it was still definitely worthwhile.

Veteran CKC attender in Portland must be at least 14 years or so. I've seen a huge decline in the class offerings and the number of vemdors. My mom and sis and I made this an annual crop weekend, but didn't go this year. The scheduling was a bit off for other stuff going on, and we've lost interest in shopping "clubs" and "page kit" booths. I noticed that Embellish It! was not attending and that has been a go to shopping stop. I am a bit disappointed because I miss seeing some of the newer stuff, but I really should be on a spending freeze and don't really need to add to my huge stash!

I've attended every CKC since the first one in Tulsa. Was a little disappointed last year & was afraid it would be the last year. I was so excited when I found we were on the schedule for this year, but now I'm so sad! I had to look very hard just to find a class to take & then I got an email that Embellish it was not having a booth. That made my decision easier. I think I'll put my money towards a trip to Springfield to the Scrapbook Generations store.

Another CKC veteran here. They have gotten smaller but so has the industry as a whole. We enjoy making a girls weekend out of the Portland and Bellevue conventions.

I used to go ALL THE TIME but stopped because they just stopped being fun, the good vendors stopped attending and the classes were awful. BUT I am going to take two classes from Queen and Co and try out the vendor fair in Charlotte this year. Hoping it has gotten better as I've heard from a few folks. Not as good as it once was but better than it was last time I went.

I had a hard time finding classes to sign up for. I noticed a lot of the "big name" regulars would not be in attendance. I did notice that Technique Tuesday was having classes but they would be taught by video. Not sure how i feel about that. I didn't sign up for them. I did sign up for a couple of Embellish It classes and The Stamps of Life class. But that is it. I used to sign up for 13 classes a weekend. I'm hoping the vendor faire is more quality than quantity but from what you ladies are saying it doesn't sound like it. Will these events ever go on the upswing again?

The events would only get bigger if people supported them. Basically, a ton of people have to descend on the small CKC for other vendors to say there's a market and go ahead and sign up.

I will go as long as there is a convention accessible to me. I am all about good deals, so older product at super cheap prices is OK with me. I understand for others it is not worth it.

Have been going to CKC Valley Forge, then Lancaster for the last 5 years, only took classes the last two but I love them. Very happy they moved to Lancaster as I live there. My LSS seems to only have card classes anymore, and I really want scrapbooking. I love the Queen and Company classes, so I'm taking two of those. My biggest complaint is although they give a lot of stash at some of the classes, they seem very rushed to me. No way you can finish stuff, but I'm a slow scrapper. I love shopping, even though I need nothing, I love looking around. I missed the Vendor Faire last year due to family stuff, so I'm looking forward to it this year. I will miss Embellish It, they were my favorite vendor. Hope someone else will bring similar stash.

I would not want to take a video class at CKC...you can get that at home online. 13 classes would be pretty pricey, I think the classes are in the $25-$30 range each now.

I don't know if that is neccessarily true, the owner of our LSS (now gone) told me 6 years ago that the cost to have a small booth there was 3000, plus all the expense of moving product and time spent. Can you imagine how much she would have had to sell to even recoup that? I think that CKC was just charging too much for vendors to be there and it simply wasn't worth their time and effort.
I don't know for sure, but I don't think the classes were any way to make money for the teachers either, seems like the fee for classes wen to ckc not the people putting on the class. They basically were loss leaders for the teachers, making it very hard for them to be worth their time and effort.

I emailed them asking how many vendors would be in KC this year since there were right around 50 last year. I expressed my disappointment with the show. They responded they were "almost sold out" and sent a list of 42 vendors. So, it sounds like they don't have plans to get more than 50 even if they had more vendors interested.

I find it interesting that even though the show has gotten smaller, the price sure hasn't gone down.
