Back in the day there used to be BIG crops to celebrate NSD that were so much fun.

Now fastforward and CM is gone so no more CMC's and no more big crops. I still have some friends who scrapbook, but we just don't get together anymore. Everyone is just too busy with family/kids/jobs, etc. I've got a great scrapbook space at home, but I really miss the old days....sigh.

I don't sell any product, but I do host large crops (25+ people) 9 months a year plus two retreats. It is fun to get everyone together and crop. I can do what I do at home alone, but the social and learning aspect is worth the time and trouble to do a large crop!

I loved the 'good old days' when a group of friends went to our LSS crop- every week! It was so much fun and productive! The LSS is gone and everyone is so busy! I do try to get together with my friend to make cards- usually once or twice a month. I go to 2 retreats annually and really enjoy meeting new crafters and seeing 'old' friends. I guess it is more of a social event for me than actually getting a lot done! LOL

I was thinking about that and wishing there was a big NSD crop today. I would be there, no doubt!

Guess they just aren't lucrative anymore. I stopped by a really nice fundraiser crop last week and just about 15 people had signed up. That is a shame because she had to cancel the vendors and the room was pretty empty - it could have held at least 50.

My choice is to not take it personally - people have opinions. Particularly people here.-Peabay 12/29/11

I used to love to go to crops too. Used to be though that I could fit all my stuff in a crop in style.

I do miss the social aspect. I have a couple friends who scrapbooked but both have for the must part stopped do I have no more scrappy friends.

I miss it too. I miss the camaraderie. I used to sell CM a long time ago and loved having the crops at my house once a month. Some of the consultants in my unit and our up line would plan big crops for NSD and then again in October for Croptoberfest. I never really got to actually scrapbook, but I really did enjoy helping others. I've only been to one retreat about 13-14 years ago.

I remember them fondly. I wish there were more available. Luckily, I still have a small group that gets together at our homes.

I haven't been to an all day or weekend crop since I had kids. I do miss them. It seems that every time I hear of one, there is already something on the calendar.

I just posted about the NSD crops on the NSD forum. The crops lasted all day and into the night. Meals were usually included. There were goodie bags, raffles, challenges, and the opportunity to meet other scrappers. Ah, for the good old days.

There are still out there. I went to a big crop (~150 people) in March and my scrapping pals and I do quarterly long weekend crops 3-4 times a year.

I never really did anything for NSD in particular, but as far as scrapping in general, I'm finding an ebb & flow. When I started, I was the only one who scrapped, so I did it alone. Then CM became really popular around here, so a few friends joined in. Soon, LSS's began popping up all over and lots of people were into it. Then, for many reasons (too many to list) people began to lose interest or not have time and I was back to solo scrapping. In the past few months, I reconnected w/an old friend and we are scrapping 1-3 days a week! It's been such a wonderful & unexpected surprise to have scrapbooking become a staple in my life again.

And to those of you w/young kids - don't lose hope! Mine are just getting old enough where their activities are a lot less and they can be left alone a lot more, so I'm finding it's MUCH easier to have an uninterrupted day or even get away for a weekend.

Your time to scrap will come back around again! Have faith!!

Ya know, I have NEVER been to a crop. Not sure if it would be for me. I would like to go to one tho one of these days. My lss didn't have one for NSD per se. They had a "croppin' for the cure" where they gather elsewhere in town and host a crop for breast cancer research so that's nice.

I used to shop on NSD back in the day. My other lss would have an all-day event (and still did this year I believe) and have sales and some prizes, some make 'n takes, that kind of thing.

They're still out there, but you have to look for them. I've vendored at some pretty big scrapping weekend retreats in South Dakota and they're really fun. Some friends in Iowa put on a couple of nice weekend retreats at a Boy Scout camp twice a year and they're great too. Those same friends do a huge one day crop in the fall as a MDA benefit and that one is always a great time.

That's where my initial "Crop Nightmare" story came from! We always had a big group of scrappers that got together monthly to scrap, and we always did it up "big" for NSD. We had raffles, taught little classes and had vendors available. I SO miss those days!
