DO NOT sign up if you cannot handle the commitment. I have NEVER flaked on a swap and would appreciate the same respect in return. If you are not current on ALL your swaps or you have FLAKED and not made up for it, DO NOT sign up for this swap as you will not be allowed to participate.

Important Guidelines!

What are we going to be Swapping?

Each participant will create 31 decorated HORIZONTAL (aka Landscape) mini matchboxes for Halloween and it MUST have the number on it that you choose. The entire matchbox must be covered with good quality cardstock (solid or patterned paper) and the FRONT ONLY must be embellished at least 2-3 times (jewels, diecuts, brads, ribbon, buttons, etc.) to make it more 3-D in appearance. Doodling does NOT count as an embellishment.
Let's make these really fun and unique. Do your best most creative work.

I found a package of the matchboxes that has 10 per pkg and they were $0.97 at Walmart today.

Make sure that you use enough adhesive and a GOOD adhesive to ensure that the matchboxes will hold up.

You will then put a little mini treat/candy in each box. -- I have had several people ask to have this part of the swap removed because of various restrictions and/or inability to send candy due to heat/temps/etc. Therefore, I have removed this part of the swap.

2peas Posting
I expect participants to check in weekly on the thread, and I will do so also! Please communicate with me if you have questions or problems. If I have not seen you checking in as requested, I will PM you. If I do not receive a response within 3 days, I will assume you do NOT want to be a part of the swap any longer and will angel out your spot. I have NEVER flaked and appreciate the same in return... I can't stress this enough!!!

Due Date: NO LATER than September 18, 2013 (this date is IN MY HANDS - not a mail by date)
Please be respectful of this, as I will be and others are counting on you! I will remain firm on this and ship back quickly, so please keep that in mind. These will have a quick turn-around time so that you have them back in your hands before the month of October!!

Angel Policy
I will be posting to the thread weekly, and if I notice that a swapper has not posted and I cannot reach them, I will find an angel to replace their spot.

Packaging, Identification, and Shipping
Please package your boxes in a ziploc bag and you must LABEL with:
1. Your peaname
2. Your real name
3. Your number (date) you choose

This helps me when sorting and swapping. Also, please include a piece of paper with your name/peaname and return address so that I can keep track of this as sometimes the package you send in gets ripped/torn by USPS and this way I have all the information at hand when I begin the sorting/swapping process.

Question about the match boxes - which way should we make them to face? (does that make sense?) I've seen both with the long side vertical and with the long side horizontal. Does it matter?

Good question - hadn't thought about that!! I chose to do them like the Flicker pic - DIAGONALLY aka HORIZONTALLY. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. I think with it this direction, the boxes won't open and spill out the treats

THIS Just R.O.C.K.S! Whoop! Love to see so many interested! Becky if you need help filling this (31 spots are ALOT!) I can take another one but make sure everyone has a chance to sign up first. All the difference between modern/traditional Halloween usually has cutsie or non scary paper lines in brighter orange and bolder traditional Halloween colors. Vintage is more gothish and muted, think Tim Holtz and MME lost & found Halloween or Echo parks Chilling worth manor is my all time favorite!t I hope that helps!

For those of you in the Vintage group, I found a website that has a ton of cute images, some would be just the right size for a matchbox.

I have some questions...

Can you explain the difference between the two groups?

I may be interested, but I need to know what the difference is before I sign up for a group.

Thanks,

The difference between modern and vintage... modern can be anything you would find now - very trendy, lots of color, usually more bright colors, etc. where vintage looks like you found it in an old attic... rustic looking, weathered, distressed, etc. Does that make more sense? If not, google vintage Halloween images vs modern images and you should see the difference.

updated to here ladies

It's been recommended that if we have a hard time filling all of these spots that we combine them. I'm fine with that. Vintage can also be cutesy, not necessarily scary, if that makes sense. Are you guys fine with combining groups? If so, I would have to rearrange the numbers a bit and you may not get the number you signed up. Let me know!!

Maybe I'm a party pooper, but I prefer that they stay separate. One of mine is going to a 3 year old, so I don't want anything bizarre for him. However, I would go with the popular choice, especially if it is necessary to keep this swap going.

I think I will go ahead and combine groups and keep it more traditional Halloween with a hint of vintage but NOTHING scary, maybe just more a bit distressed looking. Let me work on numbers here for a bit while Teagan is napping and then will post the number recount
