Details of Swap:
This is a partner swap!!

We will be swapping the mini matchboxes (like the ones used for the holiday countdowns). You will decorate the matchbox for your partner in one of the three themes they have listed. You will then fill it as full as you possibly can with tiny supplies. You'll be amazed by how much you can fit in it! You can put anything you want in it, as long as it is craft related. Supplies such as beads, paper, ephemera, postage stamps, brads, buttons, fibers, embellishments, stamped images, stamps, ribbons, stickers, foam shapes, fake flowers. Handmade goodies such as, earrings, magnets, a necklace, charms, pins. If it fits and can be used in a craft, or is a craft it's fair game. Try and keep the fillers as close to the theme as possible.

Match boxes should be decked out!! I am talking layers upon layers of embellishments/paper. Covering in patterned paper, tying a ribbon around it and attaching a button is not enough. Intricate and detailed should be springing to mind here.

Right:
example 1
example 2
example 3
example 4

Wrong:
Although these examples are super cute - they are not embellished enough
example 1
example 2
example 3

This swap is meant to be quick, cheap and easy! So NO extras!! If it doesn't fit in the matchbox, DO NOT SEND IT!

You can sign up for as many spots as you would like, just know, for each spot you will be partnered up and will make and fill a special matchbox that fits one of your partner's chosen themes.

Shipping:
These are due in the mail no later than April 1st. To be counted as shipped, you must post a DC/tracking # on the thread. If you do not ship on time you will be considered and added to the flaker list! Package the little match box well so that it will be protected during shipping. A reminder that many areas of the country are rainy and wet during the spring time, so it may be a good idea to place the match box in a ziploc bag before packaging.

Signing up:
I will keep this swap opened for one week. So I will close it the evening of February 20th and assign partners. If you sign up for multiple spots, I will make sure your partner is different for each spot. Other than that, assignments will be done by random drawing. When you sign up, please include 3 themes that you would like so your partner can choose one. The theme can be anything - a movie, season, holiday, color(s), quote, person, animal, book, etc. If you are signing up for more than one spot you can list the same themes or pick different ones for each spot. If you use the same three themes, the chosen theme is at your partner's discretion so you may end up with more than one match box in a theme.

Checking in:
Must check in at least once a week (a week runs Monday to Sunday for me) here on the thread. If you miss check in I will peamail you. You will have 48 hours to respond and then your spot will be angled out and you will be placed on the flakers list. Keep in mind that this is a partner swap, so if you disappear - it not only affects you but your partner as well!

Like stated in the OP - this is meant to be a quick, cheap and easy swap - so DO NOT send more than what fits in the match box!!

Also my 11 year old daughter would LOVE to do a couple of spots like this, so if anyone has a child around that age who wants to participate let me know. We could pair them up with a simpler version of the match box.

I've thought about it and have decided not to do this swap. I don't think I can make a matchbox of the quality of the ones you have shown. Thanks.

are these the mini matchboxes or the bigger ones? I think that bigger ones would be better because then we can fit more in the boxes. Just my opinion. Then they would look all nice all embellished.

I agree with Rosy Cheeks, #4 is a bit much. It looks like it may be a large box with that much stuff on it.

I totally agree #4 is a bit much (or alot much) Just wanted to show that the box can be 3D, that the match box doesn't have to stay flat

creativekiki - these are the little match boxes. I was going to do the large ones now, but decided to start with this size for a couple reasons: There has never been a swap like that on this board (at least in the almost 5 years I have been here ) so I wanted people to try it before jumping into a big one. Also the mini ones will be super cheap to mail and fairly easy/inexpensive to make. The are so small, they can be mailed in a padded envelope as long as they are protected.

I plan on doing a large match box swap after this one is completed. That one will have a few extra requirements like a mini album that will fit inside after all the ephemera has been taken out.

Updated to here - I will be closing this Thursday evening and assigning partners.

Hi swappers -

Partners are posted so please swap addresses with them via messaging. I need everyone to check in so I can be sure you have seen who your partners are. These are due in the mail by April 1st. When you mail, it will not be counted as such until a dc#/tracking# is posted in the thread. Be sure to package the match box in away that will ensure it arrives intact.

Remember not to include anything that will not fit in the match box. I know these are small so it is tempting to put more in the package, but that is part of the fun is to find things that will fit.

I will be hosting a bigger version of this after this swap is complete, so be sure to stay on top of this and be a good swapper so you can all sign up for that one

Happy Friday everyone!
