Hi Peas! It's that time again, to start planning Halloween!
I need to get Max's costume set ASAP, since I'll be recovering from surgery during prime costume-making time!

We don't have ANY ideas for this year, and he doesn't really have an opinion, so I'm coming to you guys!

Here are his previous cosutmes, to give you an idea of how high we've set the bar in past years! LOL

I did this for Noah. I used a painter's coverall $5 at Home Depot, but you cound use white sweats. All the rest was ribbon and patches I made myself. I used the iron on printer stuff and ironed them onto canvas material so they looked real. Nasa images are public domain so you can use them how you want.

The only things store bought was the helmet, Amazon, and the black boots, done with white duct tape.

This one is funny, it was for my older son when he was 13 and had a friend party to go to. I actually spray painted my minivan tire and then ran over it, LOL. Maybe too much for your little one, though.

That's funny, Cara! A friend brought up roadkill this weekend, after a few beers... right in between suggesting a Gulf spill Tar Ball (DH and I would be out of work fishermen, apparently) and Lindsay Lohan's parole officer... LOL

Check Family Fun online. They always have cool ones!

I am trying to convince my four younger boys to go as condiments - mustard, ketchup, mayo, and a pickle! The baby would go as an olive!

Chinese take out box would be cool....

Sushi....

Refrigerator (cardboard box covered in foil, empty containers glued onto the shelves...the front swings open (velcro shut), put pictures, notes, etc on the front....

Box of popcorn.....

Ooo, those are funny! Have him carry a golf club and a cell phone and wear a t-shirt that says "That tree hit ME"?

Here is another easy funny one. You could get a suit at Goodwill. DS needed something for another party his Freshman year...the glasses are actually supposed to be for a Austin Powers costume. They are really plain black, it's the flash reflecting making them look funny. He had the tshirt and used one of DH's suits so it was easy for us.

One of the boys at the roadkill party had a big stuffed "magnet" around his neck, the horseshoe kind that was red with silver tips. They glued little yellow chicks all over it, that was funny.

Scare Crow...easy without much of a pattern.

Itsy Bitsy Spider...but he might not be tall enough. This one only has 6 legs, so it's not even 8 legs, but cute.

Carol - the kid's own 2 legs are the last 2 legs of the spider so it does actually have 8!

A friend of mine did a zookeeper from an out of control zoo. Just a basic khaki outfit that she ripped up and pined stuffed animals to it.

The solar system is another fairly easy one with a glue gun. Black sweat suit then cut styrofoam balls in half and paint them and glue them on. Make him a sunshine hat or ring to go around his face so he can be the sun.

I did Arty Smartypants with one of my boys when he was about that age.

Arty Smartypants

I got a pair of large plaid men's dress pants from a thrift shop, and hemmed them to his height. I put a really big embroidery hoop through the waist, and a pair of suspenders. White dress shirt and a tie with wire in it to make it curl.

Then I taught him to move it back and forth and say "Oo-Ah, dance in smarty pants" when we would trick or treat. It was a hoot.

The funniest little costume I ever saw was this little kid about 8 came to my door in a suit with a briefcase with big lettering stenciled on it saying "IRS". He rang my bell and when I ansewred the door he showed me his briefcase opened it (and it was full of candy) and he said to me "Time to pay your taxes"

I thought that was the funniest dang thing I ever saw.

I've got nothing, Lizz. I'm trying to convince Mike to go as The Incredibles (Cole's current favorite movie). Violet would be invisible of course. I think Cole is still going to be Dash though.

A friend's little boy was a pirate last year. He wore black shorts, white socks and one of her white blouses (she is TINY) with a belt around his waist to 'poof' it out. She bought a hat and a sword, painted on a mustache and--done! You could also try to get a parrot for his shoulder.

Fisherman? He could carry one of those little wicker baskets for his candy--you could get some cheap lures and stick them on his vest.

Last year DD was cotton candy. We spray painted some batting pink, wrapped it around her, and stuck it down with tape. She wore white leggings and even had cotton candy perfume.

The dog was dressed as Pupcorn, and I was a cotton candy and popcorn vendor. (Pastel shirt, paper hat, flat decorated box containing cotton candy and bags of popcorn.)

My 2 boys went as Thing 1 and Thing 2 when they were younger. They wore red sweat pants and sweatshirts, I typed and printed "thing 1" "thing 2" real big on white paper, and spiked their hair straight up with hairspray and then sprayed it blue with blue hair spraypaint. I also painted their faces white and outlined their eyebrow in black. It was sooo cute!!

Around that age I did:

Fisherman: all I remember about this one is using a plastic bait pail for the treat bag.

Scarecrow: used overalls and a flannel shirt. I glued raffia coming out of the cuffs, and stitched some patches on the overalls with black yarn. Then I used a straw hat that I glued a felt, stuffed crow to with some fall leaves. I also put raffia coming out of the inside of the hat, but DS hated that.

Dragon: This would have been better called an alligator. I spray painted foam green and used a glue gun to form the head with yellow foam sheets to make the teeth. He wore green sweats, and I made a tail out of green felt stuffed with batting. I used a piece of ribbon attached to the end of the tail and tied to his wrist to hold the tail up off of the ground.

Cowboy: Cut out of one piece of brown felt a vest and stitched around the edges with black embroidery floss. Used a cardboard to cut out a sheriff's star painted gold, another flannel shirt, jeans, boots and a store bought cowboy hat. We used a macrame yarn for a lasso..

What about Brett Michaels? You would need a cowboy hat, bandana, jeans and aome kind of rock and roll T shirt. Somehow attach hair to the hat or bandana for Brett's hair. Maybe eyeliner, too!

i want him to go as Mr. T. he has a cute little mohawk right now and he could say 'i pity the fool who doesn't give me some candy!' but he doesn't know who mr. t is.

When my son was little I dressed he and his little sister up as Pebbles and Bam Bam. I made the costumes from felt, even the bat and the bone in Pebbles' hair. Super, super simple and the felt kept them a little bit warmer. They were so cute!
