Well, that is kinda what I was wondering about.... my oldest DD just told me she heard a rumor that they filed for divorce and I told her I had not read it on Two Peas and wasn't so sure about that.

I just saw an interview with them in the Austin paper -- still going strong. They seem very grounded and realistic about who they are and what they want for their family. Here's the story: LINKY

Thanks for the link. That was really a sweet read. I like how they seem a little more relaxed with each other and down to earth.

It's nice to see you can parent multiples and not be a screamer!

I like the show too. I wonder how she got her body back so well? She looks great and seems to have tons of energy. Is he working now? In last night's episode, he was around to see Eli off to school.

I notice they are going out more with the kids...I wonder if the places are really commercials in disguise like the cooking place or the dress-up place. I didn't see the waterpark name though.

Wasn't there a reality show dad of multiples that just got arrested for assault and the wife did file for divorce?

I haven't watched this but I am curious about the 'surprise' part.

Were they expecting triplets? Were there no fertility drugs involved?

this family lives 2 blocks from me, and Eliot attends school with my children. I know her well (did a long term sub in her kinder class last year) and the family is really super sweet!

They had Eliot by artificial semenation because Ethan has no sperm. When they decided to try again, they were not expecting to have 5 babies take, hence the "surprise" part. (just to set the record straight, none of that is a secret!)

They recently sold their giant custom-built home and moved to a smaller house. I believe Ethan's business is doing a little better, and with the downsize of their home things are more comfortable (plus the money they'll make from doing the show!)

I didn't know they were on TLC now. I watched when they were on WE TV. They are a cute family and the kids are super sweet. I like how the parents get along. They just seem to take everything in stride.

I wonder how she got her body back so well?

If I remember correctly, they showed on the first episode that she had surgery to correct some of the issues of giving birth to 5 children.

Enjoy the show and hope they are a happy family now but for a long while to come.

I do however get VERY irritated when they mention their money problems 10x an episode. Who are they trying to get to feel sorry for them?!

I mean really...you live in a mansion and everything in that mansion is not from Walmart by no means. They did not downsize in my opinion. They need to stop crying poor.

Paparazzi Mommy: I couldn't agree more!

It got really annoying when she kept going on and on about how its going to be hard when they have to buy school supplies for 6 kids, clothes, etc.

Hello, you knew what you were getting into with having 5 babies.

There are people with 6 kids of different ages that have to buy school supplies and clothes too. And they manage just fine!

That is the only thing that irritates me about these shows - they cry wolf over and over yet have big SUV's, huge houses, nice clothes, etc.

Its nice that he helps out and does things with the family and the babies and they don't argue. If they are in $$ trouble, why are they dressing the baby girls the same? wouldn't it make more sense to buy 4 different outfits that coordinate (or not)?

the moving to a different house was because they bought the land and built the house as an investment then the housing market went south, so they had a huge mortgage + unexpected expense of multiples. Moving to a different house allowed them to probably cut their mortage in half, considering the price of houses now.

I have to say I was frazzled and psycho with 2 little kids, and she's happy and perky with 6. I want what she's taking!!

I think they are a cute family and the dynamics seem "real life" as far as the husband wife interaction and the mildly bratty oldest daughter.

I do find it annoying when they mential their financial problems over and over. I wonder if the show asks them to do that? Its usually the same thing over and over..hoping they'll stop after a few episodes since we are no longer being "introduced" to the family.

I don't think 700 square feet is much of a downsize. They also have huge cars, etc. I agree with previous posters on those aspects.

The mom said she used IUI to get the quints. I've never heard them mention artificial insemination on the show, but I've not seen every episode either. Interesting.

Really cute family and show. I am sure they have their "moments" just like the rest of the world, but they seem very happy and seem to manage very well. Both parents seem to work well with each other, and they was not something you saw with Jon and Kate. I am sure Ethan's willingness to be a partner with everything (without the attitude) helps her stress and ability to deal with all the kids. And she seems to be more relaxed with everything as well.

The part about the house situation that cracked both me and dh up was that their new downsized house, although probably an adjustment for them, is still a dream house for many.

ETA: I agree that having multiples HAS to be very different and much more stressful in the begining then having kids one at a time, but the financial part is eventually the same as a family of 6 kids of different ages. It's just a BIG adjustment right away. Not something they ease into like other big families. I think that is where the money issues thing comes from.

First, going from a custom-built home down to a builder-grade home probably did quite a bit for their property tax bill. Travis County is one of the most expensive regions in Texas for cost of living. By no means would I consider their Steiner Ranch house to be a "mansion." At least not by Travis County standards at the lake.

Second, if you have six kids, you're going to have an SUV or a large van. In this area, like it or not, everyone has an SUV. More Surbubans are sold in Texas than anywhere else by a wide margin.

And last, I'll take this guy's concern/worry for providing for his family any day over that jackass John Gosselin's example.

I truly hope things go well for this family. I find them refreshing. As for worrying about money, many families with young children are struggling in this economy. He is being a responsible parent in wanting to provide for his family. Though I'm sure they hated to leave the other home, you can't fault them for doing what they need to do to be sound in this economy. An aside.... I have noticed that you get a lot of bang for your buck in the Texas housing market. They have some beautiful homes for very reasonable prices.
