Just ordered an Elf and the book from Amazon ( and cracked my friends up imagining a real elf being delivered to my front door haha - I said, hey! Its amazon, they've got everything! )
What did you name your elf and when do you put him out ?
the book and elf (doll haha) arrives on thursday, should I wait to read it for the night we are going to put out the elf, or should I read it to my son now and then re read again when we are going to put the elf out? If i read the book early I think Id have to hide the elf from him right? ( he's 5 )
any good stories related to this tradition?
So excited to start doing this!
I'm a Toilet Paper Pea. Are you?

I did read a blog a few years ago where someone had some very creative ideas on what the elf did every night. Sometimes he left gifts, sometimes he left a mess from a trick he pulled. The whole idea was really cute.
But I just can't get past the eyes and the smile on that elf!

Our Elf is Jeffery My boys are already prepping for his arrival which happens the night after Thanksgiving. I will say, that I told them I THOUGHT I saw something red run across the family room floor the other night and they have set out on a full out hunt for him We read the story the night before he is supposed to make his appearance.
My boys, (4, 6 and yes even still my 8 year old, God love him), LOVE this tradition!!! They also write him notes and talk to him. At least the youngest two do. Enjoy this!!! It is so fun and I will be so heart broken when they don't believe anymore
Is there another word for synonym?

you should read the book before you show him to the kids so that you know the "rules." He is supposed to arrive at thanksgiving according to the book. also there was a thread a few days ago with some ideas of how to introduce him. one pea said that their Elf arrives on their doorstep with new jammies for their chid. i am gonna do that this year since last year was our first and i dont think dd remembers too much of how he got to the house
