this is for the nook color but it should work for the nook as well. I don't think ereader.com books need to be converted for the original nook. I learned how to do it from this blog: http://apprenticealf.wordpress.com/

these instructions are specifically for the kindle books but converting ereader's drm books is similar.

download kindle4pc version 1.4.1 from http://download.cnet.com/Kindle-for-PC/3000-2125_4-75185974.html (it's important to have this older version of kindle4pc. Be sure to disable auto updates right away).

download calibre from http://calibre-ebook.com/download_windows

download tools v3.8a from http://www.datafilehost.com/download-8210f840.html

install kindle4pc and calibre. If you had a version of kindle4pc on your computer, uninstall it and delete the documents/my kindle content folder before installing this version.

extract tools v3.8a but don't extract any files that are within the original folder or any subfolders

open kindle4pc and download any books you want to convert - these will be in your kindle library or archive or whatever they call it

open calibre and click on the preferences button (looks like gear wheels), and then click on plugins

click on the 'add plugin' at the bottom

find where your tools v3.8a folder is and navigate to it and then to the Calibre_plugins folder

choose the plugin called K4MobiDeDRM_vXX_plugin.zip and click on open
(the readme files in the folder gives this info as well). There is no need to customize the plugin if you are just using Kindle4pc. Close the plugins window. (for ereader's drm files you need to install the ereader plugin in the tools folder)

it may be a good idea to close and reopen calibre at this point

in calibre, click on 'add books' and navigate to the documents/my kindle content folder. Choose the book you want to import, making sure it's the .azw file. Note that the files in your documents/my kindle content folder don't seem to have the book names. They will once they're added to Calibre but I just noted the approximate time I downloaded the book through kindle4pc and then looked at the details in the folder to get the correct book. Click on open. It will take some time to finish importing. When it's done, right click on the book and click convert to convert to the correct format. For my nook color I choose epub as the output format-this is shown in the upper right of the convert window. (for ereader.com books look for the file in the downloaded location and open it to convert).

To add the books to your nook, plug in your device and wait for Calibre to recognize it. You will see an icon for 'add to device' or something similar. Highlight the books you want to add and click that add to device button.

not if you share books. This is for books I bought and want to read on the NC.

Believe it or not this is the easy way. There were instructions about how to do it with command prompts and creating directories and I had no clue what any of that meant. This is easy in comparison.
