I did search here first and found some suggestions. I don't want to use older songs if I can get some new songs.

I already have a Jack Johnson song because they are soooo good.
I Got A Feeling (but so overused I might take out)

I looked up some of the suggestions but I don't like lyrics for either "Who Says" by Selena Gomez or "Welcome to the Future" by Brad Paisley.

Anything else?

ETA: I think I might try Bruno Mars, Just the Way You Are and see if it works!

our 5th graders just had a slumber party at school and i made a slide show using 'friday' - not Rebecca Black's version, but used the Glee version.

also anything from Radio Disney or Glee -
maybe Bruno Mars "Just the way you are" or "Count on me" or
Taio Cruz "Dynamite"

i did one a few years ago for a 9th grade class and used the Sponge Bob theme song - along with Thriller and a few other 'classics'

One word of caution: Is this a slide show that is going to be performed at a ceremony or is a copy going to be distributed to each student? There are copyright issues you need to think about in either case.

I'm not positive about the copyright issues if you are just having it showing before the ceremony. I know that "everybody does it", but there are restrictions about using copyrighted music for a public performance, and I don't know what the exceptions are that would make these slide shows "legal".

BUT, if you are planning on distributing a copy to every student, or making it available for them to copy somehow, then you need to consider finding some copyright free music. My old school purchased a collection of copyright free music just for this purpose.

Not too long ago we watched a highlight clip from the state hockey tournament and they used the song "Dynamite." My fourth graders were singing along like it was the coolest thing in the world.

my ds got a slide show on CD a couple years ago of pictures the teacher had taken of his class all through the year, and it had a couple videos on it too.. the background song she used was the song from the musical Rent, its called 525,600 Minutes, or actually I think the real name of it is Seasons of Love, but I thought it was the perfect song for what she used it for,its really a great song for something like a end of year slide show IMO
