This past Monday was our schools' first day of school and the first time using CC. A teacher friend on the 5th grade team is completely overwhelmed with creating lesson plans etc. and is in desperate need of some direction. She used to be a Title 1 Support Specialist and before that taught 1st grade for many years. She is an amazing teacher but is really overwhelmed with CC.

More specifically the unit she is working on creating plans for is on budgeting and the basics of economics etc. I think if I can point her to a website that has lesson plans already created, she can use her own creativity and go from there. Right now, she is just overwhelmed and I feel terrible for her.

Thanks, peas!!

Teachers Pay Teachers
Love this site- free and low-cost lessons that are already created by teachers for teachers.

Search Pinterest. I found a plethora of ideas earlier in the summer from there. I found good blogs, plans, and just about anything else you could ask for. Now all of our teachers are on there searching.

Our district is just starting to align our standards to CC. We're not implementing until next year, but I'm on the committee to redesign our English/Language Arts curriculum, so I've been doing a lot of browsing.

I teach 5th grade, so I've been concentrating on that. If you'll PM me an email address, I can send you a .zip file of what I've collected so far.

I will also throw my support to pinterest and tpt. I have found some great resources. Also have her check your state dept of ed website. I am a specials teacher and have been requested to integrate some cc into my curriculum. Our state's website had a great section on integrating the cc in my classroom (which isn't LA or math). She could also look at other state's websites to reference.

Good luck. We had a workshop last year and I was about how I could implement the cc and now have a decent starting point.

Why doesn't she go to her "mentor" teacher, department head (whatever it is called in your school) and ask them to give her a curriculum guide, lesson plans, etc. They can't expect her to teach something without supporting her with appropriate grade level materials.

Thanks, everyone! I'm meeting with her this afternoon and will show her TPT. She's so overwhelmed at this point that she doesn't know where to start. I know she'll do fantastic once she gets her footing!

Chele, thanks for the offer! I'm posting and running but I'll PMai you my email address tonight or tomorrow.
