I was reading the Seattle thread and I would so love to move. I have lived in the same area since I was 8 years old. I live in the south and it's so stinking hot and humid here. I wish we lived some place that actually had 4 seasons and some pretty countryside.
Oh to dream..... |

I do. When DH retired from the AF he said he would move anywhere I wanted. So, I chose Houston to be close to family. DH wanted to move to Colorado.
About once per month he complains about either the weather or being to close to family.
Unfortunately we cannot afford for me to fly back to Texas as often as I would like. |

Yes and no...I would love to leave the rain of the PNW. But, I can't think of any one place that would be perfect enough to be worth the hassle of moving. We have moved a lot too...my kids are really settled and in a good place, so no moving until dd graduates high school (6 more years.) |

I so want out of NJ. My favorite place that I've lived in the past was Albany, NY...BUT...they have real winters there, so I'm not looking to go back. I'd love to live somewhere in the south west. Currently my eye is on somewhere in New Mexico or Arizona. I think Phoenix has become too crowded, but Flagstaff and Tucson are nice. We went to Hawaii for a two week vacation this summer and FELL IN LOVE with it...but I think it's too far away from mainland USA since our kids are just 13 and 19 now and will be about 23 and 29 when we are ready to retire. Guess time will tell!

Right now, yes, because I am sick to death of the heat (it was like 101 or 102 here today)I get this way every year at the end of the summer. In October, November and December I will still be wearing shorts! It won't get even chilly (50-60 degrees) until January.
My husband is currently looking for a new job and established as we are here (with our house and good friends and strong connections), a part of me longs to move away. I've always wanted to live in a place where a real winter and a real fall and a mild summer exists. I would love to move to New England. So I am "suggesting" to my husband that he try to find a contracting job in that area. But oy, what a huge task that would be to move clear across the country! |

Not anymore. We did just that about a year and half ago...and I'm glad we did. We'll be here for another year and a half, and then we plan to pack up and move once more. Right now we are about an hour from the coast, and that last move will put us on the coast, which is right where we've always wanted to be.

Yup - about February or March when I have simply had it with shovelling, snow and more snow and freezing my butt off!! Summer is just way too short here and not hot enough.
But we have great health care and school and jobs and of course, family. I guess that is what holidays and travelling is for...for us anyway

As I said above we moved from the UK to here nearly a year ago and before that when I was single, I packed up and moved to the UK from NZ. It was exciting the first time, nerve wracking the 2nd time and while I would do it again, I'd like it to not be for a long time!

Yep, and I did. Up and moved to another state one day, couldn't take it anymore, and my mom will never forgive me, best decision I ever made.
I actually think sometimes I'd like to move to a different country just for a really different pace of life. Somewhere quiet, like New Zealand.
I really should stop watching House Hunters International while I'm preparing dinner.

Oh do I ever. I have lived here all my life and I just want a change. We took a road trip and it really brought home the I want to move bug. I am not sure exactly where - we were in No Cal on the Coast and it was gorgeous but there is no way we could live there now - not enough good paying jobs and I am not sure if I would really like the weather or not - I know I could do it short term as I have been dreaming about the nice cool temps in the 50s since we got back - dreaming about the forests, rivers, beaches, lagoons and how green everything is. It is a nice dream and I hope someday we can move out of So Cal I am ready to slow down and not have a stressed out hubby. |

I have wanted to move since I was 16. Almost moved once but it didn't work out. So we stayed. We have a 3 month opening to leave this summer and hoping to call Charlotte home. So excited, and scared that we are actually doing this. We have most things already planned out. The biggest thing will be getting the transfers available to us during that time frame. If it doesn't work we will have to stay here for another 7 years fingers crossed it all works out because I am ready to get out of here.

Not really. Probably though because I have an extensive list of places I have lived. I am ready to settle down and feel like I belong somewhere...anywhere. Sigh. Unfortunantly, after 5 years here I don't feel like I belong any more than I did the first month and I am getting an itch to try somewhere else. Maybe. |

Hey! You stole my response!
I also hate it here. Moved away for college and ended up right back here. I was dragged back kicking and screaming. Didn't want to come back but DH 9fiance at the time) had a job and thats where we went. I wasn't employed yet so I went along with it. I miss New York every day. I would go back in a heartbeat.
DH - not so much. He grew up in the midwest and is enamored of the beaches and palm trees. Me? Not so much. Everyone can't believe it because we have everything here. We don't. It might look like it, but we don't. We're lucky to get snow in the local mountains in the winter and most winters its man made snow. Had to enjoy snow when its 70 degrees out. Hard to enjoy Christmas when its 80 out. I shouldn't have to turn on my air conditioning to cook a turkey..... |

Oh this was me last night! I was watching and a couple was moving to Holland and it looked fantastic!
I'm so tired of the traffic. It took me a hour and a half to get into work this morning. There's traffic all the time. I just would love to simplify my life and live in the country or something. But then I see places like Manhattan and I think that looks exciting too. I would think I could walk or bike to work which I think would be cool.
