Long story short, DD1 had mental and physical challenges. Because of these challenges, I got involved in helping start a support group for parents of challenged children. The support group has been going strong since 1986.

The church DD2 goes to has a special needs program and she shadows a little girl who is mentally and physically challenged. This shadowing allows the child to go to children's choir on Wed. nights and Sunday School.

The support group I was a part of is doing a fashion show fundraiser partnered with Belk Dept. store where each child and their special partner will model clothes. It has been a huge success in the past.

My DD2 is the special partner to the little girl she shadows. I really don't think my DD2 realizes the fact I helped start the support group because she was young during that time and I haven't been involved since the late '90's.

It just brings tears to my eyes to see the heart of my DD2 and what a special woman she is. I know her sister would be proud to call her "sister" and will be looking down from Heaven smiling.

Such a sweet story!

When one door of happiness closes, another opens; But often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one that has been opened for us.
