We were going through our old yearbooks and scanning in pictures this weekend, and I was so amazed at how much makeup I used to wear back in the day. My junior year (1989) I can honestly say that I looked like a clown. Heavy foundation, big stripes of blush on my cheeks, heavy eyeliner and mascara (think raccoon!) and the brightest pinkest lipstick I think that was ever made. Ick. And don't get me started on hairspray usage...
I barely wear any makeup these days, I think I used up my lifetime allottment back in highschool.
Anyone else got any beauty blunders?

In my mid 20's to mid 30's as an office worker. Once I stopped working to stay home with DD, I never really went back to wearing much makeup. Now I wear only lipstick unless I'm attending an evening sorta formalish event. Which hasn't happened in about 10 or more years.
I'm just not seeing the majority of women wearing a lot of makeup anymore. But then I live in a small, rural, southern town.

I only wore a little blush and mascara in high school.

Just the blue eyeliner phase in 8th grade. Other than that my make-up usage has been pretty consistent...foundation, blush, mascara and lip gloss or light lipstick.

I've always worn about the same amount, just changed up how I applied it. I never had the "Tammy Fay" look.

Early 20's. I'd wear a full face of make-up to class. It didn't look bad at all, I just wear a bit less now to work. I still do a full face on weekends. Oh, and by full face I mean - foundation, concealer, blush, bronzer, eyeshadow, mascara, liner, setting powder, gloss or lipstick.

LOL when I was in my early 20's I worked in cosmetics at Macy's. Holy cow I wore tons of makeup. I also had the rooster hair thing going on so I know I looked HOT.
Now, I don't wear makeup and I have wash-n-wear hair.

Early 20's too... I was a hairdresser in the late 80's. I remember blowdrying my hair upside down and spraying hairspray into it as it was drying to get that big hair....uggg.
As for the make up,I wore the hole kit'n caboodle..under cover, foundation, eye shadow, eye liner, blush, bronzer, powder, lip liner, lip stick, lip gloss. It took me forever to get ready,it was the business though.
Now I wear a tiny bit of foundation under my eyes and mascara with a builder and lip gloss. I work in a totally different industry and don't need to dress up at all and could get away with no make up, but thats just me. I think I look funny with no make up...

Late 20s to early 30s.
I didn't wear make up in high school very often, and when I did, it was very light and subtle.

I stayed the same pretty much. I look at my yearbook and I look kinda the same. Not in a bad way. Just light makeup and my bangs are different. I had 80's bangs.LOL!
I only added a primer to my list.
Primer, foundation\concealer,blush, mascara, lipstick. Maybe eyeliner if I am going out.

I'm younger than most of y'all so I wasn't wearing make up in the 80's. I probably wore the most when I was about 16. I hated my freckles so I wore foundation and powder to cover them up, plus eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara.
Now I just skip the foundation and powder, I've learned to embrace the freckles since I'm stuck with them. LOL.

I didn't wear much in my teens at all.
Now (almost thirty), I wear foundation, blush, eyeliner, eyeshadow, mascara, lipstick/lipgloss, perfume.
And honestly, I tend to wear not-too-subtle eye make up. Why? Because that's how my DH likes to see me.

Probably when I was 23-26. I worked a professional job in Seattle then and always wore suits, heels, full makeup, perfect hair, constant manicures, etc.. It was just the expected way to look. Then we moved to a small town and while I still worked a professional job, looking like you'd dropped in from Seattle was a detriment, so I became somewhat more casual. Fewer suits, more separates (though still professional attire). Less "done" look to hair, makeup, etc.. I've stuck with that, even though we don't live in a small town anymore. Since I never ever see my clients in person, my job just doesn't require suits anymore. I dress somewhere between professional and business casual and my hair and makeup match that.

High school through to my 20's. Unless I'm going "out", I don't usually wear foundation, eyeshadow, etc anymore. Most days is just concealer under the eyes, eyeliner and mascara. That might change this winter though. I've been dressing less like a slob, so maybe my makeup will keep up with that when my tan is gone and the weather is cool.

Probably as a 16yo in the 80s. I wore foundation, pink and purple eyeshadow, blue eyeliner and blue mascara (sometimes black). I made sure my foundation wasn't that awful orange. One of the girls at school did not blend hers very well and she had a distinct line where the orange foundation ended and her white skin began just under her chin!
These days I only wear foundation and mascara. MAYBE some eyeshadow if I'm going out once in a blue moon.

It's always been pretty much the same. I took some modeling classes when I was 13 and learned how to apply makeup properly/subtley, so I never had a crazy blue eye shadow phase (or whatever). It's always been very natural looking.
Probably, the only time I deviated was in high school when my BFF and I took to wearing liquid eyeliner (cat's eyes) every day. But I still wore the same amount of face make-up. I just had these drawn on cat's eyes.
Truth be told, I still wear a subtle cat's eye. It's just less exaggerated now.

Now. It isn't heavily applied, but I like to wear it and it makes me feel prettier and more put together. When I was working, I wore the basics, but I am enjoying it much more now. I'm a nut for lipstick and nail polish.
I'd like to help you out. Which way did you come in?

I'm nearly 55 (!) but I don't know how many of the posters before me are my age....
I wore bright blue eye shadow when I was in middle school....and had to apply that once i got to school because my mother didn't allow it.
I wore less when I was in high school...mid to late 70's...
Then after I was married and had babies...I wore so very little make up...even until I was mid 40's...
Now...I wear a lot. I LOVE Bobbi Brown make up. I can get the exact shade to match my skin...and I love her eye shadows.
I use primers and moisturizes I never used before...and I use eye liner and different shades of eye shadows...
It's a lot different from when I was young....and I think I still look better!

ages 13-16. Lots of foundation, blue eye shadow and dark pink lipstick. Yuck!!
ETA: I'm 30 now, so that was back in the 90's. I had to apply it at school in the am and wipe my face off before going home!
