My lips are so dry and have a burning feeling. Can you recommend a good lip balm. I already use Burt's Bees.
Thanks. |

I bought some Nivea the other day and I really like it. I think it was called Nivea Smoothing. it's very soft and doesn't feel thick like chapstick or others |

I am never without lip balm. I don't like burts bees; it's too dry. I like Blistex Complete Moisture which doesn't have menthol or camphor so it just protects without tingling or drying. Blistex five star is also good, Blistex daily conditioning treatment (DCT), and Blistex simple and sensitive, all good.
I am a big fan of Blistex, obvs. |

I love Fresh Sugar. I started using it when the clear was the only option, but now they have about half a dozen tints - they look dark but go on with just a hint of color.

I like the original Chapstick and always have a tube in my bathroom drawer, a kitchen drawer and in my purse and at least 2 on hand to replace them when they're used up. |

I love this one from Sephora. If my lips are sensitive and burning, the last thing I want is cherry or mint on top--ouch! This one is very silky and soft and soothing.

I'm an anachronism--I've used Bonne Bell Lipsmackers for years at night before bed and I keep some in my office drawer too. I'm putting on some now as a matter of fact.
During the day, I use Clinique Butter Shine Lipstick in Delovely. It's very sheer, very emollient but not goopy or sticky and the case looks like bamboo-tres chic.
My lips almost never get chapped because I'm obsessive about putting stuff on them. |

The Peas are better than any women's magazine, for sure. I would have difficulty getting some of these where I live, but am going to try the Clinique-- thanks. My favourite has not been mentioned yet- La Mer the lip balm (in a tub ). A little pricey but worth it for sure.

I have post menopausal skin that is super dry, and I used to live in Chicago where the winters would make my dry lips unbearable.
I discovered Murad Lip Protection. I now get it at Sephora. I used to have a clear kind, but Sephora only carries the Energizing Pomegranate kind. It is very light pink in the tube, but it really doesn't change your lip color.
As for lip color, I am in love with Clinique's Chubby Sticks. They're more moisturizing than a lip stick and have more coverage than a lip gloss. Since using these, my lips aren't nearly as dry as they used to be. I also love Clinique's lip glosses because they're not sticky and give your lips a nice tint.
Sometimes when my lips are very dry, I will put the Murad on top of Clinique's Chubby Stick.
When my lips are extremely dry, I do use Carmex. It does help with peeling, chapped lips.
I tried the Philosophy lip cream, but it wasn't moisturizing enough. My skin is extremely dry, though. In the winter, I have to use Bobbi Brown's face essential oil under my moisturizer because my skin gets so flaky. At night, I use Estee Lauder's Advanced Night Repair serum under my Clinique All About Eyes, and Khiel's Abyssine cream. For daytime, I use the Abyssine cream with SPF 23 and Estee Lauder's Idealist which gives skin a gorgeous glow without makeup.
I get tons of compliments on my skin, and no one believes I'm 35. I just take good care of my skin, and I started as a teen. I grew up at the beach and used a lot of sunblock. My grandmother had the most gorgeous wrinkle free skin, and she had lupus and was allergic to the sun. So the lack of sun damage make her skin so radiant. She was a real inspiration for me to take care of my skin.
I've read Paula Begoun's Don't Go to the Makeup Counter Without Me, and she has a great website, Cosmetic Cop. She explains why peppermint and menthol in lip balms are more drying and require you to use more of them. Her reviews on different skin care products and cosmetics are a bit harsh. I think if you find something that works for you, go for it. She is a chemist, so she knows what the different ingredients in products actually do. |

Same here - I love those things. That's what I have on now.
At night I use a balm from an Etsy seller - Long Winter Farm. She has a bunch of different and frequently changing scents/flavours, but my favourites are always ones with honey in the name (Orange Honey my all-time favourite). |

I like Oriflame tender care when my lips are really really sore. Other than that, I love the l'occitane lip balm. Since I've been using the Revlon lip butters I find my lips don't often get dry, though. |

Best lip balm ever is By Terry, Baume de Rose.
Another one that is a little more expensive, but well worth it. A got a friend to bring me back some from Paris when she went in February and I've just hit the bottom of the jar... I've used it several times a day every day, so despite the price it lasts a long time.
Also don't ever use Vicks on the lips, in the mouth, or in the nose...it says that right on the package. It's turpentine oil...the stuff used to clean up oil paint that you avoid breathing in, camphor (same thing moth balls are made of) Eucalyptus oil (which can be fatal even in small doses when swallowed) and petroleum. If if it wasn't poisonous ...why anyone thinks that combination would fix sore lips is beyond me, it's likely to make them more sore and cracked.
