today our sweet girl has let us know it is time. Our Hallie girl is 16 and has given us so much love and kindness, but she has stopped eating and is not responding to loves or her favorite bacon treats. My heart is so sad.
To top it off, my son was sick all night, so I'm beyond exhausted, which makes knowing we have to take her in to the vet today seem all the more overwhelming.  And I cannot take time off from school, so I hope she can hang on until this afternoon, my dh is making the decision about when with the vet.
I hate these days. Even though I know its best, and I know she is done. I'm just so sad.  |

My eyes are tearing up for you; that's got to be one of the toughest things to go through. Silly as this sounds, my dog truly is my best friend. The love and loyalty they give just fills up your heart with happiness.
I'm so,so sorry that you are going through this. I'm saying a prayer for you, your family, and for little Hallie.
Even though I know its best, and I know she is done.
You're right; it is for the best, but that doesn't make it one bit easier.
I'm glad you were able to give Hallie a happy, safe home for 16 years, and I'm sure that she gave you so much love and happiness. | |

Thank you for the outpouring of kind words and understanding. my dh has her there now, it could not wait. I'm sitting in the corner in a library trying to cry quietly.
We have such hard clay ground here that we cremate our pets. We cannot dig into the ground without a jack hammer. But we do need a tree, and I think a beautiful tree out my kitchen window will be nice. I am going to take my kids this weekend and do that.
This just sucks so much. |

I am so sorry! I have been right where you are, and it is SO hard.
But what a wonderful pet owner you are, doing exactly the most loving thing for your sweet pet.
I personally cling to that "waiting at the bridge" image...I love the thought that we will walk together again.
