I'm with Perfectly Posh. Sundays are my fun-days where I make product samples to mail out upon request. Today I have made samples of our Chatter Chunks and our Fabulous Baby Lotion!

What I NEED to do is update my customer database. So, that is what I will work on this afternoon.

This evening I will be addressing packages for my sample requests and popping them in the mail tomorrow, as well as sending out catalog requests.

Oh, I also have 150 catalogs to label for a Cheerleading Fundraiser that I have coming up next month that I need to get packets made for.

Just curious, do you have an assigned task each day or do you just do things as they need to be done?

I processed the information from last nights party (which seriously touched my soul, I love my job so much) first thing this morning

So far i've
done 2 coaching calls with girls on my team
posted congrats on our team facebook group for the girls who checked in after their parties
replenished my stock bags
contacted my hostesses for Monday, Tuesday and Thursday nights
sent out a client newsletter
and i'm getting ready to throw my bags in the car and jump in the shower for tonights party. Should be a good one, expecting around 10 girls and 4 are 'repeat offenders' They're a fun group.

I've been trying to get ahead on mailers and setting up facebook posts/emails to go out because October is a crazy busy month for me. I've got wed, fri and sat off for a big festival that's happening here and then I took off the 25th and 31st for halloween activities but I have a party booked every other day and two on each Saturday AND Sunday. It's going to be busy, but busy is GOOD!

I'm hoping for a $10,000 plus month....fingers crossed!

How long have you been in business? What are your goals for the month?

I schedule everything. Right now i'm using a paper calendar but i'm in the process of going electronic with everything. I'm hoping to be completely paper free within 6 months.

I despise things like updating the email list, labeling products/catalogs, and putting together the mailers so I hired a personal assistant to do those things for me. She's got it going on so I can go in my office, pull a hostess packet out, personalize it and put it in the mail file or instead of typing in a bunch of information I can just pull files and do client follow up. She's the best money i've ever spent.

I schedule client calls for every morning as well as team coaching calls. I do the leadership calls on the day of their birthday, so if they were born on July 17th they know they'll get a call from me every month on the 17th to check in. I generally do hostess coaching on Mondays, more in depth team coaching calls on Tuesdays, Wednesdays I drive to our corporate office and pick up orders for my local team (it's 2 hours away and saves us a TON of money in shipping costs) and thursdays are mail days and the day that I spend planning team meetings/incentives/trainings and work on the classes/meetings that i'm doing for other teams.

It seems like a lot of work, but when you're scheduled it's really not. My 'business hours' are 10-2 Monday-Thursday and generally i'm not 'working' the entire time. It just depends.

A big new product just came in stock ... the Simple Stories "Sn@p!" line!! Yeah, I've been waiting for a few months ... so excited! Customers are too. This is a big one to use for December Daily and Project Life which people are wanting to buy before the holidays are upon us.

I'm making sure all the Sn@p pre-orders are processed and taking new orders online. I work full-time so I don't do crops or parties anymore, do most of my business online.

I also finally printed out some Paypal monthly invoices to file and saved them to my computer. They e-mail the invoice to me every month but I'm usually so busy I don't save it right then when I should

Since I have you ladies ... I have a question: How do you get past the hump with your online friends that "ordering from a consultant" is just as easy as ordering from any other shop online? That you aren't going to spam them with constant "please buy this!" e-mails, etc. I have a website through Memory Works and it's just like ordering from any other online shop and once a customer DOES order through me, they're like "Oh, that was easy" But I guess there's just a stigma that ordering through a consultant means I'm always going to be bugging you, that you have to live near me (which you don't), etc.

I often put these ideas in my blog entries but maybe those get tuned out over time? How do you guys get past this stigma (for lack of a better word)? Or is it even an issue for you?

That Posh stuff looks really awesome. It's not here in Canada yet.

I'm just prepping for our product launch in my province and a few others, so I'm working o creating buzz and answering questions. Me and my partner are aiming for girls that want to be as pioneering as us!

Kristy- GOOD for you! I need to be better about scheduling time off but motivating my team for the booking blitz this month killed that idea. haha. Throw a contest my way and i'm ON it. lmao

Erika- are you utilizing a facebook fan page? I'm honest with my clients and they know they're going to get the truth...good, bad or ugly. haha. I tell them at parties that they can order from my website or ask me for business info and I acknowledge that I know companies and consultants have a rep as stalkers. Honestly, I hate that and I don't have time for it. I'm a single mom with three kids and a very busy schedule. You ask me for info or products, I send you the info or products. When you need more or have questions call me and i'll always be there to help you out but I will NOT be stalking you. If you'd like I'll put you on my client email list where you'll get a completely child safe (important in my business) email once a month or possibly every 6 weeks depending on how lazy i'm being and that's it. No spam, no porn, no harassment.

I find that my reorders are up with my fanpage and it really helps to build the relationship with my clients which is super important especially when you're doing business with women.

My business fanpage is Pure Romance by Stephanie Welsh if you want to check it out and a friend started a company that specializes in teaching people how to effectively use social media for their businesses- her name is Kelly and she's amazing.

Her fan page is at Directly Successful

She's awesome and has seriously impacted my interactions with my clients.

JBeans, what is your company?
$10k shouldn't be an issue this month, That's my hardline goal but i'm kind of hoping to hit my first $15k retail month. So far my highest was $11486 last February and this month has 3 more days in it! lol. Business has been really, really good lately. My party average and per person sales are way up compared to last year so i'm very excited about where things are going. Last nights party was only 4 ladies and sales were $789 I'm happy haha

I had to do a company change (not gonna get into it), but I'm starting with Jewel Kade.
The only thing, I can't make US sales, but I can most definitely have US people on my team.

My business partner is also doing 31. I'm not. It's just not my bag, baby! (Pun intended) I think 31 is going to be amazing though.

Tania, you can sell Jewel Kade in BC right now. It's custom photo charms, matching custom word canvases to match the charms, custom jewelry tags and stunning jewelry. I can't sell, but I can build a team anywhere.

I'm with doTerra Essential Oils and I love it. It's a different type of direct sales in that you can have different workshops depending on the needs. Last Thursday I had a workshop where the women made their own cleaning products. Next week I have one making baby safe products.

It's lots of fun and I really enjoy it. I wish it was as exotic as Steph's parties!

Today I've been working on my website. It's a personal website (apart from doTerra) that has many homemade recipes for cleaning and skin care products. It's there mostly for my customers and the girls that enroll under me, or anyone I guess! It's not monetized and doesn't even lead to my doTerra site yet so I'd love some constructive feedback.

This is the page I'm finishing up today. Essential Oils Recipes

Please let me know what you think!

I'm answering in no particular order here.
Hergie: Good for you! That is the beauty of Direct Sales. We get to schedule our own tasks and work hours. And we normally get along really well with our boss!

JBeans: I KNOW! I have four girls from Canada chomping at the bit to sign onto my team. I have a direct line to the Founders and as much as I beg, they tell me there are no plans in the next year or so to expand to Canada. We are just ONE year old and our growth has been outrageous. We need to keep being the best at what we are doing now rather than expand too fast. Let me say, they do treat the consultants like GOLD, and I'm sure they want to maintain that and product superiority above all else. No greed in this company. So my friends and I are patiently waiting.

journeyfan: I love online orders! Of course they are through my personal website and deliver directly to the customer. That said, I do spend time with many of my customers listening to their needs and recommending which of our products I feel would best suit them. Due to another full-time (and much less fun) job, combined with severe out-of-control migraine, I do very few home parties. When I do, they are at my home. I provide a relaxing environment and Posh Pamper both my hostesses and the guests. I also do private or semi-private Pampering sessions here as well. Each guest gets a pampering Now & Zen mask of their choice, a full Play Footsie line experience and gets to sample and use all of the products I have on hand. 100% of the time, they place an order with me then. I do stress to them that they can either place an order on my website when they are ready for more, or let me know they would like to stop by and try another product, many of which I have on hand for cash and carry. (Posh has incredible leniency in regards to their P&P and they let us run our business as an INDEPENDENT consultant, which is what we are!) Either way, it matters not to me. I have not experienced that stigma at all, and since Posh ships directly very quickly, there is no extra wait for a consultant to put in an order.

STEPH! Yep. You are the DS rockstar, for sure. While I have been in Direct Sales for several years, I resigned from my former company when I found Posh. Getting in on the ground floor meant no oversaturation and they are a whole different animal than any DS company I have ever experienced. Now, for me, I truly do enjoy the catalog stickering, sample-making, filling sample and catalog requests, etc. Call me crazy, but it is very relaxing and motivating for me.

I know! I'm pretty excited about it. Their stuff is stunning and can be so personal with all their custom items. I just need Alberta to open, I have people waiting here for me and hopefully enough time to catch the Christmas season!

Yep, I know quite a few girls doing Posh and they are doing really well with it. Too bad they won't hit Canada sooner, the products look so fun.

Stephanie, I cheer you on, you're doing awesome and you're always having a blast.

I'm with Heritage Makers. Today was family day. We went up to the mountains to a pumpkin farm.

Yesterday I worked a large show and will have follow-ups this week. My kids are out of school tomorrow so I will be spending the day with them. Tuesday I will get back to making phone calls and trying to set-up one on ones and some workshops for later in the month and next month.

I used to assign tasks for each day but got out of that. I need to take a page from Steph's book and get back to organizing myself (in otherwords, practice what I preach).

I'm with Pink Zebra and just getting my business off the ground.

This week I need to:

Make sample pots for my sprinkles. I ordered 150 of the sifter jars (think mineral makeup ones) and I need to label and fill them.

Create my tri-fold insert so I have something to hand out with samples.

Create some display items for upcoming vendor shows (I'm thinking magnetic boards in fancy frames)

Order simmer pots so I can have sprinkles burning at vendor shows.

GET THE WORD OUT! That's my top priority.

For those of you that do fundraisers, who do you advertise to? We offer a 40% profit so I'm sure it would be a good thing!

Dawndoll,

I'm also in MI, maybe we've crossed paths in some of the Facebook groups!

What area does your sister rep for Jewel Kade in? I saw some for the first time and about DIED it was so amazing!! My girls are getting some for Christmas (and Santa may put some into my stocking...). I actually won a Queen Bee bracelet at Quartermania

Ps - I will PM you when I'm on the computer... I may be interested in some PP stuff also!

Today Perfectly Posh announced and amazing Starter Kit special, $88 and if you go PINK before the end of the year, you will get that $88 back in product credit! So....I am calling on all my fence-sitters and letting them know about this!
I also just ordered from VistaPrint some cute postcards to remind people that they can order directly from my website and have it conveniently deliver right to their door, no parties necessary!

It's the first of the month so I'm updating my monthly fliers in my Facebook group.

I'm going to be updating my inventory, I have some things in my own stock I'll be posting online so I can free up room.

I also have an order coming in from a consultant-only sale - mystery bags! So fingers crossed I have fun stuff this evening!

It's been a couple weeks ... but today I'm updating my sales inventory (fliers, catalogs, etc.)

I also heavily promoted a charity sale - every customer can choose their own charity to have 10% of their sale donated to. A lot of my Facebook friends are friends because of a bulldog rescue so I hope it goes over well.

I'll be opening an online fundraiser party tomorrow! It will be to benefit our Humane Society! We have our Handle solid bar lotions on sale for $8 and they are great sellers, and especially will be for the cold Michigan weather coming up.
Today I wrote out postcards to former customers thanking them for supporting my small business during this holiday buying season. I am trying to design a coupon for customers that purchase in January that will be good for 10% off their order in February!
Later this week I will be busy making up gift baskets that I have orders for. With our B5/G1 FREE deal, I have had a ton of customers go that route for gifts! Just waiting on my order to arrive so I can get to work sorting and wrapping them up! I love doing this for my customers! It is the fun part of my 'job.'

.Megan. Do you hold doterra classes? Mine aren't the standard classes but we do more make and take type classes. Last night i held a class making homemade "vaseline" and a whipped shea butter. We use the essential oils and they're lots of fun.

I'd love to trade off ideas if you ever want to!

I'm here! I had a pretty good party last night, retail was $890 so this morning I processed that paperwork, emailed ladies who had asked about info on becoming a consultant while we've got our killer kit sale going on (one day left!), then I drove to Columbus to pick up orders for 6 of my girls, dropped a kit off at a new team members house, did a 90 minute conference call and now i'm getting ready to package backorders to drop off in the morning . Busy busy!

I'm trying to get ahead today/tomorrow so I don't fall behind over the weekend, i've got a party Friday night, three on Saturday and one on Sunday. LOVE Valentines season!

Lol, late night but I'm here!

I did some promo stuff for a party going on in February.
Tonight I got a list of parties ready to be entered into the system for our "booking day" special that starts tomorrow.
I put some posts in business pages about about our booking special.
Also, did some welcoming of new team members that are going to sign as soon as the February kit sale starts. They are excited!

Anyone got a check in? This month has been insane so far...4 parties last weekend with $6100 in sales. Yowza. Loving that payday. This week i've got one tonight, one tomorrow night, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

As far as baby steps-
1.) Love your products and your mission statement
2.) Talk to people
3.) don't be pushy and don't turn into that girl that harasses your friends for business. I like to keep my friends and my business separate.
4.) Follow up with clients, be consistent
5.) Provide excellent customer service
6.) Make it your mission to get rid of as many business cards as possible. They don't make you ANY money sitting in your house. Get out, meet people, find business.

Steph, you are killing it! I always like watching you go!

All my shows are solid for next week, so it's kinda slow right now. I'm still planning some things, and looking for some charitable events.

What were the baby steps you took when you started your business? Any strategies that have really paid off?

Do something for your business every day. It doesn't have to be big. Just something.
Ask questions. If you think your product is a good fit somewhere, or has interesting crossover potential, learn about how that. For instance, with JK custom photo charms, there is a crossover potential with photographers. So, I am learning how photographers run their business so I can figure out how we fit in. There are lots of stylists that are also photographers, so I've talked to them. I've also chatted with photographers in my local area to get to know them, how they do business and some I am even collaborating with.

Doing this can be a slow build. Sometimes it takes off like a rocket, but you have to do something every day.

Now that I've done it, I always say give it a shot. At the very least, you do a couple parties and you lose nothing because you gain your kit back in commission.
But do shop around and do your homework. I was burned with the prior company the more i chat, the more I was with and I'm glad I left when I did.
Doing much better this time around, even I I just started with them not long ago!

Hi ladies! I've been keeping up on this thread...I just jumped into Silpada with both feet. I'm excited but also nervous. My rep is incredible though...we hit it off the first time we met.

I'm impressed with the businesses you ladies have going on! I already have 2 parties scheduled for March...I'm hoping to have more scheduled soon.

Love reading about your tips and tricks!!!

I am so impressed with what I read on here, I have no clue how to get going, I am with Scentsy and I feel like I cannot give it away, lol. I keep friends and business separate like Steph commented above, how do you get sales? I am at a complete lose and about ready to give up, suggestions?

I'm pretty limited on what I can do for my business with social media. There are guidelines that say what we can/can't do on facebook, especially. I have a closed group set up where I'll post specials, answer questions, etc. I've done a contest, and I think I'll do another one for Easter. It was fun and seemed to go over well.

Sales have been pretty non-existant for the last month or so, but I'm really not a good seller anyway. I love the products, so I mostly sell to friends/myself. haha.

I did attend my celebrate and connect meeting last night, which is always fun. Got some good training and received a current product as an amenity. Love it!

I keep saying I'm going to do more, but with my other job and the kids' activities, time seems to get away from me.

Good luck to all in your businesses!

Just get out there and talk to people, post flyers, business cards etc. Keep at it and it will happen. Direct sales is work, but it's worth it with a great company!

We're in the middle of our busy season right now, i'm SO excited about how my Feb went-
My team did $107,000 in retail sales
I have 11 new team members
$24,046 in personal sales
I'm in NOVA right now with my mom and was a guest speaker at a meeting for the Md portion of our team, my team leaders gave me a card, a pandora bracelet with 5 gorgeous charms and a coach purse and this months sales put me over the edge for my spot on the corporate advisory board and earned an incentive beach trip this summer. SO excited--

Now i've got to buckle down and hit the rest of my goals. I'm seriously thinking about aiming for our BIG incentive trip- a trip for 2 to Australia. I'd fall over and die from shock if I could pull it out, but it's looking possible!

Hi ladies ... it has been a while since any one has written here but if any one checks this.. I am wondering how you go about getting a fundraiser? I have tried calling dance studios and asking but on one seems interested. I am new to my area well kind of and I have been doing parties but in an area that is about 1.5 hours from my house...I am trying to get things going in my own town. Any suggestions would be great!!

This time of year i'd focus on sports teams and camps. Parents are trying to fund all kinds of nonsense for their kids.

Had a Wildtree party last week - friends and family purchased over $500! which means I got to get over $100 in FREE food! Loved the party and the products so much, I signed up to be a Wildtree Rep!!!! Loving the company so far, super easy, lots of support and their incentive program is wonderful!

Pretty crazy - I now sell 31 and Wildtree! Time to get my butt in gear! Need to get totally organized when it comes to Wildtree, received my kit Thursday, had to clear two shelves in the pantry for all the product! Now, I need to get a binder together, label my catalogs, etc...

For 31, need to contact customers and let them know about the June special and get some parties on the calendar.

What I've learned from being a Direct Sales Pea...you MUST work the business in order to have a business!

Are you planning on maintaining both businesses or will you see which one grows the fastest and phase the other out? I can't imagine running two at this point, i'm lucky to keep myself straight with one.

You're absolutely right about working the business. I seem to go in phases, i'll have 2-3 killer months and then i'll drop down to doing my minimums for a couple of months. I've done right at $3k the last 2 months and it drives me crazy ,but clearly not crazy enough to work harder. lol. I do this every year and then think about the numbers I could be pulling if I were more consistent.

Our fiscal year ends on the 30th of this year...fingers crossed I get where I want to be. Either way i'll call it a success, my biggest year so far

yes, I'm going to do both. I've been a 31 consultant for almost 3 years, can't imagine not representing 31, lol! Wildtree is a whole new world, healthy food - changing the way we eat, helping families (moms) to cook healthy, delicious meals for their families. Educating people about the junk that is in the food we purchase and offering alternatives - pretty excited!

I just signed up with 31! I turned in a party for May with 2 orders (together they met the $200 min) so my goal for June is to double that to 4 orders & have at least 1 real party!

Steph could totally give us lessons! She rocks her business!
