I have a friend who is buying a new house and a few of us want to get her some new cookware. I need recommendations from the Peas!

Cooks Stainless at JC Penney I don't have this exact set, but I got this brand from Penney's and am very happy with the quality. They do have other sets and pieces too.

My mom has this set from Costco...she's given me a few individual pieces and I love them. The only thing I don't like (and it's really petty) is that we hang a lot on our pot rack and I don't like seeing Kirkland emblazoned on the bottoms of the pans.

Would definitely buy this one at Costco. Cooks everything well & cleans so easily my DH does the dishes!

I have the Target Calphalon set that I got about 10 years ago. As pieces have met their limit, I've replaced them with Calphalon from Macys (which is higher quality). At least I think it's Macys, the BF bought me the the frying pan and chicken fryer for my birthday last year to replace my
Target ones. Those are the ones I use the most, so they took a beating. But still, they held up for a number of years. The pots I use less, so they still have some time on them.

how to watch a thread

At the top or bottom right of the thread, both work, find the reply button. Next to it is an arrow thing. Click on it and it is a drop down menu to bookmark or watch or report the thread. Click on watch.

Don't laugh but after a long search for affordable anodized cookware, I purchased this Technique set from QVC. Techniques 10 piece
I have it in the red and am very happy with the quality and nothing ever sticks. We cook almost every day in my house and it is still going strong.

We just ordered a set that Fabio (Top Chef) has his name attached to on QVC ... hubby liked the fact they are white ceramic inside, no sticking, easy clean up ... I chose the red and have to say they are just GORGEOUS. Just found a link - they're also at Bed, Bath & Beyond (coupons!)

We have had a set from Costco for 16 years ... they have totally held up, but some of the finish is finally going and I don't like any of that stuff when its chipped where it meets with food.

When in doubt, I always go with the America's Test Kitchen suggestion. Just make sure it is the most current as things can change.

For the pea that asked about a glass cooktop - I use everything on mine, including my regular cast iron skillet and enameled cast iron Dutch oven.

Emeril Lagasse cookware is the best! I have had it for a few years and it performs wonderfully and it is manufactured by All-Clad (the gold standard for stainless cookware). I wouldn't buy any other kind and I have had a few sets that were supposed to be heirloom quality. I can't afford the All-Clad or Le Crueset but would love to have some.

All good suggestions. I'm interested to learn more about the Walmart line. Sounds like a great deal.

And dynalady, thanks for telling me how to book mark a thread! Thank you, I had thought that was gone with the new design.

I also have the racheal ray hard anodized set. Similar to calphalon. I have had it about 6 years, and it is still great!! Non stick, and washes easily. It isn't Teflon so you can use metal utensils on it. It sells for around $175 for a 10 piece set.
