DH wanted to create a new home page on his laptop, and found that Yahoo is now requiring a hotmail account to do so, which we are not inclined to sign up for.
We are looking for a home page where we can customize our news, weather, etc. Thoughts?

I usually change it according to my current "Thing".
Like say the month of November is NaNoWriMo month in our house(Nanowrimo.org), which a month to challenge you to try writing a book/story that is 50,000 words in 30 days. So that is sometimes my page as a "IN YOUR FACE" reminder. Which I am currently failing.... But my daughter has her set and she is ahead of her daily word goal.

I have two. Google and Yahoo. I don't have a Hotmail account so maybe you mean something different than I'm thinking for Yahoo?

Yeah, April, we don't either, they didn't used to require it. But when he went to sign up for a new homepage, boom - there it was. Bad move on their part.
Does Google let you customize it with stuff, or is it just the search page?

igoogle.com is a customizable page like I think you're talking about. Although it says they're phasing it out in a year.
I just have my browser open with all the same tabs that I closed it with. So I don't ever see a homepage.

iGoogle might work for him for the time being. They are phasing it out next year (Nov. 1st). I was using it for a while until I decided to use Google Chrome without a home page. iGoogle has email access, weather, date & time, news, etc., all on one page. It's pretty customizable.

Mine is blank.
I always have certain pages pulled up though:
* A Beautiful Mess
* Two Peas NSBR
* Slick Deals
The rest rotate depending on what I've been browsing.
