the cheapest time to travel OR to escape during your cold winter months?
Although, our winters haven't been to terrible the past few years, I still prefer to go during our cold winter months. I'm a mild climate person and like the temps above 50 degrees. I tend to enjoy the tropics much more during this time.
Our summer months I like to take road trips, camp, go wheeling, go swimming in the lake and just enjoy our summer time with my DD and our friends. It is to hot in the tropics, IMO, in the summer. |

We most definitely go to get away from the cold weather! So usually no good deals for us. |

We go when it's cooler here, even though we live on the Tropic of Cancer.
Cooler here is less humidity and temps in the 70's. Perfect weather for vacation. |
Cheers from Southeast Sunny Florida!

A bit of both.
We live in California, so our winters arn't really wintery. But, we have taken several winter vacations to the Carribbean. We have been to all inclusives in Jan and Feb and the crowds are so much smaller than when we have been in the summer. We have also done cruises in the winter and enjoyed that as well.
But, our anniversary is in August and we often travel for that. We can usually get a good deal on travel to the Carribbean then because of hurricane season. The crowds are larger during that time of year, so we try to stay away from the major resorts and stick to more out of the way and off the beaten path kind of places.
Lately, much or our travel has been based on events or occassions, so we havn't really gotten to choose. We are going on a cruise in 2 weeks for the wedding of some good friends. It's not a vacation I would have choosen - but we are excited about it anyways. DH's job & school both require a lot of travel, so often I go along and we tack on a day or two if possible. We have taken some very interesting trips that way and I have been to some places I never would have choosen a trip to but am very glad to have been to.

Neither, we go when the mood strikes us!
We go to Cancun every year after Christmas so that would be our winter getaway. Any other time is just coincidental - we went to the Bahamas in August and it was wonderful weather, not too hot at all.
Just depends on which tropical area and each persons idea of what is "too hot" or "just right"

We go near the beginning or the end of the peak travel season for wherever our destination is.
Grand Cayman is my favorite Caribbean spot. |

I live in Calif and our winters are mild. We have taken 7-8 tropical vacations, all in Oct or Nov when our weather is still nice, but the prices are way cheaper Just got back from Hawaii.... round trip tickets just under $300!

Cold weather and avoiding family. We like to travel over Thanksgiving. And the Caribbean is the perfect escape! |

We've always gone the two weeks before high season kicks in-December 1-December 15. Everything is cheaper, far fewer people and it's freezing in MD, so we also get to enjoy the tropics.
