Just got the call from my GYN that my pap was abnormal. First time ever and I'm so thankful I go every year. I was nervous since there is an appointment available tomorrow for a colposcopy and I took it, even though the nurse said it was not a matter of urgency.

Keeping my fingers crossed that it's going to be ok. Now, if I could only calm down and not think the worst.

Abnormal paps happen more often than you might think. I'll be praying that it is nothing. (((hugs)))

You got it! I cannot tell you how many women I have known to have the same scare, only to find out if was normal. Don't worry yourself.

I've had a few over the years, and every time it was a mild yeast infection. There are a lot of things that can grow abnormal cells, not just cancer.

The fact that the nurse didn't think it was urgent is a good thing. But you are smart to jump on this. Go in and have the procedure done. And will will all say a prayer for you.

Try not to worry! It could be abnormal from anything....a slight infection, a bad swab, or even if you had s*x in the last day or so.

Completely agree with this. I had a cone biopsy several years ago which worked miracles for me, but prior to that time, I never had a normal pap. I had so many colposcopies I've lost count.

Try not to worry until you hear the results. It's great that you can get in tomorrow. I'll be thinking of you.

a colpo is much like a pap, with a few pinches in the end. You'll be just fine, sending positive thoughts your way

I'm more likely to get abnormal pap results than not and it has always turned out okay but I'm sending you positive thoughts regardless.

BTDT. It was squagmous cell atypical something or other. Did a retest and it was fine. I hope yours is the same.

Did they tell you what kind of abnormal?

OK. Newbie. This is how it works. If your post consists of 80% sanity, 10% stupidity and 10% all kinds of crazy, we immediately focus on the 20% b/c it discredits the 80%.

No idea what type of abnormality. All I know is that it showed atypical cells, no dysplasia.

All of my worrying was for nothing. I had the procedure and a biopsy which came back normal, thank the Lord. Now it's every 6 month pap for me which I don't mind at all.

Thanks again for the prayers and good thoughts!
