Ugh! This is my first uti.. And owie it is not fun!
Couple questions.. I have two days of antibiotics left, and it seems like all my original symptoms are already back. The symptoms were gone for a few glorious days. But today I'm in pain again.
Should I go ahead and call my dr.? Or wait until I'm done with the antibiotic and see if the symptoms are gone again by then? Is it normal to still have symptoms at this point? When I went in the dr. made it sound like I would be feeling 1000% in a couple days, and I did, but now I'm feeling pretty icky again.
(my original symptoms and today's symptoms are feeling like I need to pee BAD and barely going, and it looks like there may be pink tinge in urine again assuming it's blood, also every once in awhile it feels like my bladder is having a spasm)
Thanks |
Theresa

For me, once the symptoms were gone, I was good to go. No more pain. I finished the antibiotics and all was well.
Did they culture you to make sure they gave you the right meds? There are so many different bacteria that cause infections, and you need the right antibiotics to treat it. |

I would call. You might need a different antibiotic.

If you're having pain and burning, etc., ask your doctor about using AZO Standard. It's over the counter, so you don't need a prescription.

Yeah, you'll probably need another round of meds. UTIs are no fun. |

Sometimes it does take a while after the antibiotic is finished for the symptoms to clear up. Your bladder continues to spasm, unfortunately, but this doesn't necessarily indicate an ongoing infection. I'd be a bit more concerned about the pink tinge, but even this could be due to irritation not necessarily infection.
Keep drinking lots of water to flush things out. And the Azo Standard (phenazopyradine) would help you with the symptoms. Be warned, though: this drug stains your urine orange/brown. You will want to wear old panties AND a liner or pad while using it. And watch for splashes within and around your toilet: your cheapie toilet seat was permanently stained by this. You must clean up any stains immediately.
Good luck! |

Did you eliminate ALL sugar while taking the meds? Plus drinking lots of water? After you get it cleared up, take cranberry capsules every day for the next YEAR.
