|Posted: 12/10/2012 3:47:52 PM|Yes, I procrastinate. I am not a big fan of company Christmas parties. It's a sit down meal at a country club. This is DH's first year with the company, so I am not sure what to wear. He asked a woman at the office, and she said it was "cocktail attire". Well, that could be a range of dressiness, KWIM?
I have a red dress with a black sweater with jewels at the neckline similar to this:
Or, I can wear that same sweater with black pants and a red silk top underneath.
Which would you go with??
|Posted: 12/10/2012 3:54:15 PM|I didn't really know what "cocktail attire" was. I looked it up and after reading this:
I think I'd go with the red dress. The sweater is nice.

Either option sounds fine- around here, an older crowd would be more likely to opt for the pants version and a younger crowd would lean toward dresses. Just my experience, I'm sure plenty of peas don't fit that mold but it's what I see most commonly.

Our office party is everything from black slacks and dressy sweaters to dressy up as in really dressed up. Over the years though it's gotten more casual. I think most ladies, depending on the weather of course, wear slacks or skirts (slacks if snowing) and a dressy top or sweater.. or a dress, a little more dressy than office attire. I always wear something that I can dress down for the office though. OR wear the same thing a few years in a row (NO ONE remembers...and yeah I remember that tread a year ago about how that is a no no..) Our party consists of attorneys and accountants. YAWN.

I think what you have sounds nice! Red's always good.

I am wearing this to my holiday party which is much, much prettier in real life. I'm wearing it with a cropped cashmere cardigan, a gold clutch and heels
