I keep getting the following email:

"Order: VGH-7930-6105601033
Order Date: Friday, 14 December 2012, 01:21 PM
Dear Customer,
Your parcel has arrived at the post office at December 20.Our courier was unable to deliver the parcel to you.

To receive a parcel, please, go to the nearest our office and show this receipt.

DOWNLOAD POSTAL RECEIPT
Best Regards, The FedEx Team."

First, I ordered nothing on that date. Second, wouldn't
they leave a notice on my door? Third, why would FedEX
say their package arrived at *the post office*?
Has anyone every gotten something like this from FedEx?

A colleague of mine got something similar from UPS and when she went to download the "receipt" she downloaded a bunch of viruses. She really messed up her computer. She thought the email was legit because she had something that she had ordered, so she downloaded without a second thought.

I get these e-mails almost daily. Delete.

(If you hover the mouse pointer over the link, or "view details" of the sender its not FedEx, UPS, DHL or USPS.)

Any package info will be posted on their web site. IF the parcel were at the post office that is where you would go, NOT to any of their offices.

I want to say it's a scam. In fact, for the last year, I've been receiving several similar emails on a regular basis (FedEx and USPS). I hover over the sender's email address and can usually find some type of indicator there that proves it's a scam. Now, the emails just dump into my SPAM folder now. I'd steer clear of it.

FedEx delivers to my post office all the time (they have a partnership with USPS on some type of service). However. I NEVER receive a receipt I have to download. It shows up on their website's tracking service.
I would not download anything.

it's a fake.

are you expecting something from FedX?

if you want to check on something at the PO, call their 800 # and they can tell you if something is there for pick up.

"That henceforth prayers imploring the assistance of Heaven, and its blessing on our deliberations, be held in this Assembly every morning."

Franklin wrote April 17, 1787:

Benjamin Franklin wrote his epitaph:

Anytime they want you to go to any site, it's suspicious. The grammar is also off, which is always a giveaway. Do not to to that site and DO NOT download anything.

Thanks, I've been getting them almost daily to
so I've been deleting. I've learned never to
click on something when I'm not absolutely sure
it's legit.

Yes, it's fraudulent. At my FedEx/Kinkos, I heard one of the employees explain to someone who was there to ask about it. He said they don't use email to tell you about packages.

There is no way any of the shipping companies would have your email. FedEx usually has a phone number listed for the recipient, but not email. I shipped by FedEx this Christmas. No place on the form for email, at least not that I remember, and I would have noticed, since I didn't know the email addresses of the recipients.

Definitely beware of opening any emails claiming to be from any shipping company, even if you have ordered something. It's a very common scam to get you to click on a link that will download viruses to your computer.

If you have a tracking number for your real life FedEx order, then you can check on your package through their official website using the tracking number. Most companies send you that tracking number once your item ships.

I think it's a virus tied to Facebook because it was addressed to me as my Facebook name, not my email. Weird.

Update, then run your anti-virus, malware, etc. You
could also google *FedEX email scam* or something like
that and you should get lots of hits on how to deal
with it. Good luck!
