so i got an instyler for christmas...I used it yesterday but took out my regular straigtening iron anyway...
am i missing something. the brush part has soft brissles ..not sure that's great to make hair smooth...it didn't seem to make my hair any better than my regular straigtening iron
I really wanted one and I want to like it..
tell me if you like yours!

i have one and i love it. difference is i wasn't using a straightening iron before, i was using a blow dryer with the round brush attachment. so i find the instyler smooths my hair better. it seems less frizzy when i am done.
it also gives volume - i pull my hair straight up from my head using it and it give volume at the roots.
like anything new, you have to play with it a bit (and watch the instructional video dvd that comes with it?!?). not everything works great for everyone but i am happy with mine.
(ETA: if you had super thick course curly hair, i'm not sure how the soft brush bristles would work. my hair is fine but i have lots of it and i have waves and cowlicks to fight, not tight curls.)

I have a LOT of hair and it's pretty curly but not coarse. I get great results from a hair dryer and straigtening iron but I thought this would give me a few options ( big waves etc)
I will be playing with it more today

I have been using my instyler for about 3 years. I was skeptical at first. I have thick naturally curley hair that I could not get straight with a blow dryer. I LOVE THE INSTYLER! It took a couple of tries before I got it right. Everyone would ask me if I had gotten my hair chemically straighten (I had not). Even the guy who does my hair thought I had gone elsewhere. Good luck with it.

I have a Babyliss Pro straightener and my hair is almost too flat. My new stylist loves her INStyler. I'm thinking I may need to try it. I'm not ready to take the $$ plunge with one though but the videos look very convincing!
I was looking at "hot brushes" but with my thick hair I'm thinking they may not be powerful enough...
