Today is Beau's rescheduled birthday party. We will miss it. DH is sick. Not bad enough for him to be down and out, but bad enough not to go and share his sickness with other people, especially children.
It snowed here overnight and we got another couple of inches.
Back to work tomorrow. Arrgggg...... |

Tracey, I have been out of work for 6 months and go back this week.... I'M not looking forward to it either! lol well, i kinda am.. but i like being able to go do whatever i want, when i want! thankful i am only working 3 days a week though... gives me time for grad school! i have orientation on friday for that. going to be a busy week!
christine, i was thinking about a valentine's swap too... were you wanting to do like the Christmas one, or the kind where everyone sends a hostess a set number of things and the hostess divvies them out kind of thing? i am up for whatever! gotta decide soon because valentine's will be here VERY SOON! first week of january is over already!
I saw a cute pintrest project using scrabble tiles. very simple, but i want to send it to john for Valentine's day. i need to do it quickly too! been looking on line and posted in "for sale or trade" on here.... someone suggested michaels so i might just have to make a run over there today too. |

maybe we can "plan" something quarterly, so the next one would be spring related? then summer, then fall?
i actually have a reason to do valentine's "stuff" now! lol as far as LOs and cards go that is. |

Here is a picture of all the cards for Claudia that I will be sending to Sandy at OWH shortly. Thanks Maggie, Ruby, Alicia, Tara, and Tami for sending them. I hope you can see at least a couple that you made. I did the ones with the birds on them...they are near the top. I have not yet counted them because I also need to sort them by theme.
I would also like to suggest that as we do card swaps, that we each make extras and send them to OWH!! Claudia was one of their original shippers overseas and I think this is the best way to honor her. |

Hi all! Sorry I have been missing. New job is going really well. My more stressful part of the day is driving. Ugh! I hate driving. We are hoping to move in the next couple months closer to my job. We just started looking.
Christine - Thanks for posting the picture of the cards! They look amazing!
Tracey - I hope your husband feels better soon!
Alicia - I thought I saw the scrabble tiles at Michael's too. |

Hi Tara! I'm with you on the driving. I hate having to drive anywhere! Canberra drivers are shocking. I've had more near misses in 9 months of living here than in my whole driving career! Good to hear your new job is going well! It makes such a difference, eh?
I spent my Sunday afternoon attached to my computer and in my scraproom getting my album up to date with Cathy Z's Move More, Eat Well class. Lots of journalling. I ran out of time to get my Project Life up to date but I hope to do that either this afternoon or tomorrow. I'm still waiting on page projectors from New Zealand for my PL album but I can at least organise the journalling and photos.
Photos!! Egads. I need to figure out a good system for organising photos on my computer. It's not like I take thousands of pics but I still need to tweak my files so I find things easier.
Then, I need to find time to get some birthday cards made up for the next few weeks.
Not sure when I'm meant to find clients and run a business.
I have a meeting today to discuss my suitability for volunteer work. I need to find two marriage certs and a decree nisi. Frankly, I have not a clue if I even kept my first marriage cert! The guy was not worth remembering! Lots of red tape and paperwork to screen people for voluntary work. Ideally, I'd like to work in a Soup Kitchen, but I still haven't found one. There must be something in Canberra. Surely.
Sending out the love and prayers for everyone! Take it easy today, Denise! |

Tracey - Love the photos of baby Beau!
Lisa - praying you are feeling better and surgery went well.
Jan - chronic pain can put the best of people in a funk. Praying for relief and healing.
Denise - that emotional wall can come when you least expect it. I'm so sorry you are having a difficult time. Glad you got a new car!
Well guys, I've had an exciting couple of days. Robbie has had several friends over during the holidays and unfortunately, I caught him and a friend smoking pot IN MY HOUSE at 2:30 am Friday. It's been a LONG time since I have been that mad. Needless to say, most of what I had to say didn't sink in until later that morning. Once they were "normal", I blasted both of them. Lots and lots of tears from Robbie. Lots of "I'm so disappointed in you" from me. Robbie bought the crap from the kid that was spending the night but he also owned up to starting smoking the crap around the first of December after trying it at the kids house. After more tears, he admitted to smoking it numerous times and of course, couldn't tell me why, just that he did it.
The kid that spent the night was confrontational with me about it. Never apologized or said anything but smart assed remarks. I told him to get his stuff together and I was taking him home. I told him he had 15 minutes to tell his mom and then I would be calling. When I called her, it went to voice mail. When I went online, I noticed she had left me a message. She was livid that I would "DARE" to discipline her child about the issue. OH MY GOD - I just about stroked out. I rant and raved for an hour about how no one ever wants to believe that their child has done something wrong and that when they do something wrong, it was obviously not their fault. They have to find someone else to blame...anyone but not their baby. The way I look at it, Robbie made the choice to do it. Doesn't matter if it was given to him or he bought it. He was GUILTY and was going to be disciplined and I wasn't looking for an escape goat. NOPE - he did it, he was WRONG! He was still GUILTY of breaking my house rules and not to forget, the law.
Needless to say, his beloved Mustang that he paided for - mine now. His new Iphone5 - mine, his flat screen tv, game system and computer - mine.
His younger sister will be driving him to school (in HIS car) and I will be picking him up for the community service that I have arranged for him to start. I have him working at the local animal shelter AND the animal pound after school cleaning out the stalls and cages. Yup...I'm a pissed off mom on a mission to make his life miserable for the next couple of weeks. If I'm still this mad in a couple of weeks, then he will still be grounded (or strangled!). As for me trusting him again, that is going to take a long time.
I know that every kid is going to make a mistake growing up. I have always said that and I hope it is not to the magnitude that would affect them the rest of their lives. I guess this is his screw-up and I should be a little bit easier on him but I'm just not feeling it. My Momma always said a little fear of your parents went a long way, well - he is feeling the fear.
Pray that I can forgive him and we survive all of this with a stronger relationship!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Oh yeah - I did forget to put drug testing in my rant! I just happened to be seeing my Internal Medicine doctor that morning and she recommended over the counter drug testing kits. She told me the most accurate one to get that would cover ALL kinds of crap. She also said to put it in the kitchen window as a reminder and to randomly test him. Another recommendation was to test him a couple of days AFTER the first test because sometimes the kids think they are in the clear for a couple weeks then BAM! I guess you could tell how ticked off I am about it all in my post. I also realize that it could have been a lot worse than what it was but it still hasn't calmed me down any. |

Oh Patti so sorry you had to go through that with your son. Glad he came clean with you.
Maggie - I didn't realize there was so much red tape to go through for volunteer work.
Last Friday my sister and I went to a gym on a 7 day free trial. Not impressed with the customer service we received so we may keep looking for a different one. Today we will go back to the same one and see how it goes. |

Afternoon girlies!
Christine, I think I sent you 20 or 25 cards back when you first mentioned sending them in Claudia's name. I don't remember what they looked like and don't recognize any in the picture but hopefully you will include them in the parcel. I remember you saying you got them too!
Patti, sorry Robbie disappointed you but probably not as sorry Robie is that he got caught! Thankfully he was at your house and it was you not the police that busted him. Shame on the other boys mom, she should be grateful that you tried to contact her. Hopefully part of Robbie's punishment is restricted/ no time with that boy!!
You might need to capture Robbie being chaufered to school on camera. If it is scrapped it will remind him forever how lucky he is to have a mom that cares enough to keep him safe!
Had my first aqua therapy today. Feeling the workout now. Hopefully this will help relieve some of my discomfort.
Tracey, sorry you missed Beau party, hope your DH feels better.
Denise congrats on the new wheels!
Alicia, good luck w/ the new job!
Maggie, hope you are volunteer worthy! You'd think they would love the assistance and not make it so difficult for you!
Back to work tomorrow...... | |

Hi everyone!
Wow, tough love, Patti. You make me look like a wuss! I kinda feel sorry for Robbie, but he'll sure learn his lesson!
Stinkin' hot here. Has been for a couple of weeks. Catastrophic Fire ratings in Kiama, where I lived. This is on the ocean and totally unheard of. (Well, very, very rare). Crazy.
I'm off to an Induction meeting this morning. Have to catch up with a JP to get paperwork signed off to send to the "powers that be" to get the Working with Vulnerable People ticket. Then, I guess, it's a matter of working out what days to offer my services.
Not much happening here as it's too hot to get excited about anything!
Take care! |

It was back to work today and pleased to say that I survived. The day flew by since I was so busy. DH was home from work today since he is still sick. Hopefully he'll return to work tomorrow.
I went for a long walk with Anna's mom yesterday and it almost killed me. My body is sore and stiff today. Every trip from my office to the photocopier was painful. Apparently I spent too much time on the couch over the past two weeks.
PATTI: Fortunately I never had to deal with the drug issue with either of my boys. I do remember, however, the disappointment that I felt when Zach told us that Annie was pregnant. I truly felt that I failed as a parent. I would imagine that after the anger goes away, you will feel the same way. Robbie will definitely learn from this and it will make him a better person. Tough love is hard. |

Jan, those cards are gorgeous! Is that a SU stamp? If so, which one? I think I have one similar? Very pretty.
Just picked up the Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred dvd in my mail today. eek. I'm going to do my best to commit to the 30 days. I've heard it's hard work but gives good results. Off to organise a funeral plan first! |

Hi ladies! I have been MIA lately.. I have been checking in and reading the thread when I can just dont have alot to share. Nothing much exciting going on with me lately.
I did however start my new "job" of keeping my sweet grandbaby Kinsley last week! Goodness she is sweet! I'm enjoying the time that I get to spend with her. Last week I went to my DS's house and kept her all three days but this week I hope to bring her to my house at least one of the days so that I can be productive here at home too. We live about 30 mins from DS so I have been doing the driving to them. Until the weather is better & we get passed the "flu season" we dont want to get her out very much or at least as little as possible.
The cards are beautiful... Chris I need to apologize for not getting done with mine and to you... I just haven't had time in my scrap room to do anything! Sorry... maybe I can get it together next go around.
Denise - what kind of car did you get??? So excited for you!
I'm having a hard time getting motivated after the holidays... just seems that I'm worn down... not sure why.
I hope you all have a great day.

Just checking in quick! Still researching other gyms in my area. Still waiting to hear back on one house we want to rent. Ready for spring. It's been nice the last couple days and I would love to keep it that way but I live in WI and I know better.

You might remember a few months ago when I was writing proposals for 3 years of funding for a couple of programs. I found out yesterday that both proposals were successful and those two programs will continue for 3 more years. Very happy with the news.
Still waiting to hear about some government funding for 2 employment programs. They are scheduled to start on Monday but still haven't heard about the funding. Looks like the start date will be pushed back unless I hear by Friday.
DH is finally feeling better and so is my mom. So far I've escaped this sickness and hoping to continue that way. |

Tracey - Glad your husband is getting better. My parents and neice and nephew have been sick with this flu all week. They are just starting to get better. I am hoping I don't get it.
Today is starting out sore, tired, crabby. It must go up from here. Ugh! |
