It's a whole new week!

Here's last week's thread in case you missed it: Week of 12-31

I hope everyone is off to a terrific start! And if you aren't, get right back at it! YOU CAN DO THIS!!

I joined WW a week ago but knew I wasn't going to start until today. I did well today even considering that I didn't have anything to bring for lunch today and had to "wing it" with some fruit, cheese and a yogurt that I was able to scrape together this morning from the fridge. Drinking enough water seems to be my challenge. I also know I need to be MOVING more but I have had to ut exercise on hold until I get the OK from my cardiologist. I have some friends at work wh ostarted today with me so I am hoping that having a built in support group will help.

It's okay and even preferable to go slowly. You're making behavior changes that you want to last for a lifetime. Sounds like you're doing fine making better choices alread.

I go to my first meeting tomorrow. My biggest downfall will be planning my meals. I am not good at that and prefer to eat lunch out than pack it to work. Ugh!

Good luck, Ilene! You can do it! I always enjoy going to the meetings.

I've been struggling to stay on plan this past week. I had a few good days and had a few really, really bad days! Today has been good so far. I'm good at planning meals, but it's the spontaneous nighttime snacking that does it for me. I need to try to get to bed earlier in order to put a stop to it.

I'm irritated that etools isn't functioning properly, LOL. I haven't had this happen in the year that I've been using it, so I should probably be more patient. Maybe I should consider keeping some paper trackers on hand for times like these.

Hi Ladies

I always feel a little out of place posting on these threads since I'm not following weight watchers :/ however I think the support on these threads is awesome!

I've been doing beautifully food wise, but have been drinking much more than usual the last month or so, so I know that has inhibited my weight loss. So, it's time to stop that!

I'm at about 75 lost, about 10 to goal, and I'd really like to be there by my one year anniversary (March 1). To anyone just starting out....YIPPEE! If i can do this, anyone can....I promise you that!

I started online last Wednesday. I am getting used to logging food again. I need to do more reading on the program. I am doing the on line program. Meetings are too far away for me.

Michy: That is awesome! Congrats and good luck on your last 10!

Checking in! I have been doing a much better job with tracking this week but I too have a hard time with the late night munchies!

I weigh in on Wednesday morning and will come back and report then about weight loss.

A little NSV (non scale victory) that I had this weekend was that I was able to run 22 minutes on the treadmill at 4 mph! I have been working for a LONG time on the C25K and I was SO happy that I did it! I am flirting with the idea of thinking about maybe signing up for a 5K this summer. Perhaps.

Have a great week everyone!

I'm doing well this week. Got a nine-apron order out the door today and blogged about a points-friendly (and crazy delicious) flatbread pizza.

I go to my first meeting tomorrow. My biggest downfall will be planning my meals. I am not good at that and prefer to eat lunch out than pack it to work. Ugh!

This was a problem for me too. I rarely pack my lunch for work.

What I did to overcome that was this. I figured out what foods I was ordering most when I was eating out & figured the points for each. Then I dropped the ones that weren't worth the points & added a few more that I know are low points. I have an e-mail I sent to myself with my lunch choices & the corresponding points so I decide what I'm hungry for, check the list on my phone & go from there.

It took time but I'm down 41 pounds so something I'm doing is working!

Does anybody have a Papa Murphy's pizza near them? I want to try their delite pizza. I guess the crust is very thin but I wonder about the rest of it? I checked e-tools but it doesn't say how big "1 slice" is. Is that 1/12 of a large? 1/8 of a medium? How MUCH is 1 slice? Am I overthinking this?

Sara, I have a Papa Murphy's near me and we have ordered the De-lite a handful of times (before WW) and it is pretty good. I love pizza so I'll being going back again soon. I'm not sure if the points are per slice for a medium or large. I'll do some asking around this week. They are all over the place where I am so someone is bound to know.

I've been doing pretty well this week. I'm trying to focus on bringing my fruits and veggies to work for my snacks but I'm sitting here typing this rather than getting them ready to take to work. I really need to make sure that I do this the night before.

@ Sara, I've used the nutritional facts found on Papa Murphy's website to calculate the points. My neighborhood location just closed, and I'm rather disappointed, but it's probably for the best.

I'm struggling to get back into the program completely. I wasn't very diligent about it over the holidays. It's almost as hard as when I started. I'd like to lose another 15 pounds by April, but I really have to buckle down to meet that goal. That would be a total of 50 pounds lost in 1 year.

Good luck to everyone this week!

I am actually doing my first 'weigh-in' for Weight Watchers today. They started an at work program where I work so I figured I may as well give it a try and today is our first meeting with a leader.

I am worried because I cannot eat any artificial sweeteners (whenever I do I get vertigo), and no soy products due to my thyroid medication (it reduces the effectiveness). So hopefully I can work around those two things and make WW work! i would love to lose 80 lbs, but right now am going to focus on losing 10% of my current body weight.

Also, can someone explain how you calculate the points on items you cook at home from scratch?

Lily, that's OK, I am trying to cut out artificial sweetners! So you are ahead of me. Where do you most use sugars?

I am reading all the lunch challenges and guess I have an advantage there too. Eating out at my job is not an option. I also eat breakfast at work. I have a HUGE lunchbag! There's nothing in it that's not a good option on plan, so I guess that helps. I drink a protein shake in the car in the AM, and just finished a Greek yogurt for snack. I have three fruits and a veggie for snack, and a big salad for lunch. I have a vitamuffin if I feel like I need it. I haven't used my weekly points or my activity points yet!

Lily-- for recipes I make at home (or find in magazines, etc.) I enter the ingredients and amounts into the WW eTools Recipe Builder. Even if you choose not to track using eTools, I think it is worth it to have just for the Recipe Builder. I've learned through using it that some recipes I've made for years aren't as bad as I thought they were. You can also use it to tweak serving sizes, ingredients, etc.

Otherwise, I'd do some math to figure it out. Determine the points values of what goes into your recipe. Add it all up, and divide by the number of servings. That seems like a reasonable way to estimate points values (and it is essentially what I've done when I've done WW in days before eTools even existed). Good luck!

I found points listed in eTools which does spell out whether it's larger or medium. What I'm not sure of is that's X number of points per slice out of how many slices? If it's a large pizza and you cut it into 4 slices that's going to be a lot different pointswise than if you cut it into 8 pieces. That's what I'm trying to figure out. No biggee. I did the best I could with what info I had & moved on.

Went to my first meeting at work today and signed up online tonight. I know most of the people in my group and we have a great leader so I look forward to our journey. This week I am concentrating on writing down what I eat.

I've recommitted to the program this week and I have totally cut out crappy snacking. I've just had an orange or an apple in the evening. I'll ride that wave for as long as I can! I get weighed on Thursday and I hope to see a weight loss!

Hi all. I was up .6 today. BUT - it was my first gain since October, and for those of you have been here for a while, know that's a huge accomplishment for me!

And I also had Chinese on Sunday and a hard workout last night that has me pretty sore, so it may just be water retention

I hit the road for work tomorrow and won't be back until Sunday. Then I leave Monday night & don't come back until the following Saturday. Ugh. Going to try very hard to make good choices!

Agreed - etools are awesome & have kept me on track. That's even though I've had issues with the mobile WW app. It still works & helps me a lot when I'm out & about trying to figure out what to eat when things get changed up on me.

Almost 11 years ago I became a lifetime member by losing 40lbs after dd was born. I was never diligent about checking in, had another child, and a career change in the meantime.

Yesterday I joined again becasue I have that 40 plus another 10 to lose. A lot has changed in 10 yrs but I think I am going to like this new program. I only paid for one week yesterday becasue funds were low but next week I plan on buying the monthly pass so I can have access to e-tools. It sounds so much easier than paper and pen.

I am going to really love these posts. If anyone has any helpful hints for a newbie that would be appreciated too

Well, it was WI day & guess what? I'm now .6 UNDER goal!! YAY ME! I was so excited I could have cried.

Now the next hard part starts -- maintenance. Incredibly, by the time I got home my eTools already increased my point allotment by 4 points. My WW leader told me to try increasing by 2 points until next week. So I actually have to eat MORE? Wow. Hard to imagine!!

But I'm going to spring for a pedicure to celebrate!!

Good job to all of you that were down this week! Keep it up!

And to those of you that wished for more this week...keep going, it is worth it!

Congratulations, Sara!!

I weighed in on Tuesday and was down 0.4. I'm a very slow loser. At least it's the right direction!

I ordered the Wii Zumba and it came today. Looking forward to a fun workout! I'm in the assessment phase of the ActiveLink so trying to do my usual activity. I have a few days left on that.

I'm using etools and also a paper tracker while I get back on track. I love the new trackers!

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Just marking my spot.

I started we last year but didn't get too far...I told myself I would be more serious with it once DS was fully weaned from breastfeeding...we've been weaned for a week now. I made my changes on ww and it took away 11 of my daily pts...eeeek!

So I jumped back in and right away had a set back...I'm on day 5 of breaking out in hives - you guys may have seen my thread about seeing an allergist. I'm on a bunch of meds and have been on steroids for four days now. I made the mistake of weighing myself amongst all of this (and to add to the water retention it's that time of the month...ugh.)

So hopefully I'm back on the wagon tomorrow! I'm really wanting to lose 30-40 lbs before this summer when we start trying for baby number two. I gained 75 lbs with DS (waaaay too much!) And I'm still not back to prepregnancy weight. I want to start off the next pregnancy with less weight than I have right now and really watch it while pregnant.

Can't wait to be in this with everyone!

I started WW again on 12/31/12. I weighed in Wednesday and was down 2.5 lbs!

Last time I was on WW, I lost 15 lbs and didn't exercise. This time, I am exercising. I went to the gym four times this week to walk on the treadmill and increased my speed and time each day I go. Last week I earned 12 APs. My goal for this week is to earn at least 13 APs.

Congrats to everyone that lost this week as well as everyone who was up a little that is still on plan. I know for me that being up sends me in one of two directions - extremely regimented or screw it, this doesn't work, bring on the bag (the entire bag) of chips.

I was down 3.6 and hit the 5% goal so I was definitely pleased with that. Now on to my 10% goal so I can get my iphone 5.

Did anyone go to their WW's office's open house/celebration today? When I stopped in to see what it was all about it hadn't started yet & I didn't have time to go back after it did start. No biggee. I was hoping that they'd have their snack bars on sale but they weren't.

Just curious to know what all the event was about.
