I am here at chemo and I pulled out the turkey sandwich my DH had made for me using our new jar of Trader Joe's dijon mustard. Crap, that stuff needs a warning label!! My nose just exploded. It is almost as hot as the spicy mustard they have at Philippe's in downtown L.A.

I wasn't expecting the nose burn and it actually pissed me off. No bueno, Trader Joe's!

Just send that mustard to me. I love love hot mustard.
I am impressed that you can eat while having your treatment. My husband's brother and his sister-in-law could not stand the smell of food.

best wishes on your recovery.

Thanks for the warning. I can't eat things as hot as I used to when I was a smoker. Guess my taste buds finally came out of hiding.

ETA is it possible you're more sensitive due to the chemo? I know my sense of taste was badly affected by one of my chemo cocktails but not the other.

I will also that sandwich. It has been a long time since I had a homemade sandwich, not made by me.

It is just the chemo? I get a nose burning sensation with a blast of cold winter air for a few days. I also have a super-human sense of smell for a week (to the point I am grossed out by smelling everything). And a bit of a bloody nose every time I blow my nose. Oh, joy.

How are you feeling? I feel like shit the second day.

Sounds like an awesome mustard. Love a good and spicy dijon (too many are so wimpy... I want FLAVOUR not flavour!) Will have to look for it if I ever get to a Trader Joe's.

I haven't progressed past "baby" mustard yet, so that really frightens me!! Mustard on turkey???? That's a whole other topic for discussion. Mayo only for me.

Hope your treatment well that you will be cancer free soon.

I spent a semester in Dijon when I was in college a million years ago. Real Dijon mustard will make your nose explode and your eyes water. You can get it here in the states as Grey Poupon "Moutarde de Maille". It is nothing like their regular Grey Poupon sold in the states.

I may have to make a trip to Trader Joe's!

I hope the chemo treatments go well, OP.

I use mustard on turkey, too, at least if there's no cranberry sauce.
Not a fan of mayo + bread. Except on BLTs.

I'm sorry! That sucks! I remember when my mom was going through chemo how hard it was to find foods that she wanted, and tasted right! And when you feel so So sick and the one thing you want to eat is horrible to you, it's no good at all!

1. How sweet that your honey made you a sandwich

2. I thought I was a weirdo bc I have similar reactions to spicy mustard sometimes. And Wasabi? Forget it. Sometimes I think it's going to burn my brain!
