A few years ago I asked DW for a PT Cruiser, she hated them but I made her drive one and we got it. I LOVED my Pt Loser (that's what I called her). DW drove my little Loser to work last week and rolled it.

She is okay! She pulled a muscle in her back and she still has a very large knot on her head. She was sore all over for a couple days. She was doing 48 in a 50. We live out in the country. She was going too fast for the fog, she went off the edge of the pavement and over corrected. The police officer said my Loser held up pretty well for flipping like that. He also said if she hadn't been wearing her seatblet she likely would have been very seriously injured.

No, we did not have full coverage on her. Since we owned it we just put liability on her. We did learn a lesson so no lecture needed

Wear your seatbelts! Now, all that background is done lets enjoy what's left of my car!!

I give you the final tribute to my 2006 Pt Loser!

The morning of, on the wrecker. I wasn't thinking about taking a photo of it where it landed, dang it. I was with the EMTs while they were checking out the wife.

Oh the cold light of day! The front two windows are busted out. The back door handles, the bumer, the roof... goodness she took a beating.

It was a rough day BUT it's important to remember what really matters. DW walked away with minor injuries. )

My little Loser took me to some great places. She was a champ in the great snow-pacalypse of 2012. She carried bags for many a sleepover and event. She was truly loved and admired by the great Thor (my dog).
ROTFL!

I lurk a lot. I thought you ladies might enjoy the tribute.

We cried a lot the first day but honestly, it's just a car. It was scary and it took her a couple days to get back behind the wheel of a car but sh*t happens.

She got me an '07 buick rendevous to make it up to me. She said her favorite thing about the Rendevous is the fog lights. LOL It's quite a step up actually so that's the silver lining. Also, when I'm alone in the car I have a nasty habit of not wearing my seatbelt so those days are over. On top of all that we now have full coverage on our cars.

I'm glad she's okay considering the biggest dent was right in front of her head. Isn't it amazing how the sunroof glass appears to have bent? Glad again that she's okay and even gladder that it's you two that have to go car shopping and not me.

Terri, I was surprised the sun roof didn't shatter like the windows! DW said she would have preferred for the roof to have caved on the other side for sure. lol

DW took a picture of my hugging my car (but I look really bad in that photo so ya'll don't get to see it). I thanked her for holding my girl tight and not crushing her. All things concidered the Loser was a good car. Now I'm just kicking myself since I had just done the shocks and struts a month ago. lol

So this post is on the serious side, return to humor in a moment.

Georgiapea, I'm not trying to blame the wife, accidents happen and it's not like she meant to, but the accident was her fault. Out here in the boonies in AR a lot of the little backroads don't have lines. Some have worn down over the years and some have been patched over the lines, ect. It was foggy. She was going too fast. She went off the road where the pavement is really thick into a soft ditch and then she over corrected hard. I really don't think it was a problem with the car.

She was pretty adamant for the first couple days that I should be angry with her. She wasn't drinking and driving. She never txts and drives. She is a good driver usually. I'm the one who doesn't wear her seatbelt and gets the speeding tickets. I can't even remember what year was the last time she got pulled over. She had a off morning.

THe only thing that raised an eyeborw on the car was that the air bags didn't deploy. I would have thought hitting the ground at the speed would have set the off. IDK

DW thought it was ugly too. It was all a secret plot to off the Loser so she didn't have to look at it anymore!

For revenge I got a more expensive car. lol

The airbags in the steering wheel probably didn't go off because they're designed for front end collisions. They aren't effective in rollovers or side/angled impacts, just for hitting something head on.

That makes sense. There are side air bags too but I imagine that the impact is different. Either way, I don't know if airbags would have helped, unless there happened to be one just above her head. lol

I'm so glad she's okay. Glad just doesn't even discribe it... You guys, I talk big and tough and all that but the truth is I just don't know what I would do without her. Honestly. I just can't imagine life without her.

The first thing she did was call me, just as soon as the car stopped moving. She was so freaked out I could barely understand her. As soon as I said hello she started crying. She just kept saying "OMG baby the CAR! The car is ruined!" Like that's the first thing I need to know! HELLO?! Are YOU okay?? LOL Women are crazy.

On our second hand vehicles over 5 years old we only carry liability.
Us too. I'm a used car kind of gal. I don't want a $30K brand new bells and whistles car payment. The car would be great! The payment not so much. I like using that money for other stuff like the vacation fund, going out to eat a lot, ect.

I never really thought about what would happen in this situation. Now the car's ruined, no money from insurance. You've got to come out of pocket for another car or a down payment. Full coverage wasn't as expensive as I thought it would be. Maybe it's something to think about.

Thanks Angela. It's been a rough 2013 so far but I'm good. DW had the flu, then the car, the DD and I had the 24hour tummy bug. It's felt like just one thing after the other. I'd have pulled my hair out if I had anything left to grab on to. lol

I'm happy to say that yesterday I finally got all the laundry caught up and the house clean. I neglected those duties a lot lately. lol I'm pretty sure we officially got all the bad stuff for this year out of the way.

Whoa! I'm glad your DW is ok and the PT is "only" that damaged. I just got one earlier this month and am glad to see it held up as well as it did.

I'm teaching 15 yo DD how to drive (with her permit) in it and that gives me some comfort that it took the brunt of the damage.

ETA: Just saw the other pictures...ouch! Poor car but glad DW is ok.

I just got rid of my beloved van of 11 years last night and I'll admit, I did cry a little. It's hard to part with things that hold so many memories. I hope your PT gets a good send off.

WOW!! I am so glad your DW is ok!! We can all say a eulogy for the Loser and move on. LOL

When trying to figure out if I want full coverage on a vehicle, I try to look at how much I am paying for full coverage vs. how much the vehicle is worth. There does come a time in the life of a car that it's not worth having full coverage. And, now that I have said this, it is time I looked at exactly this for my Trailblazer that I carry full coverage on. LOL

So glad DW is ok!!! My son rolled his PT a few years ago. Scared me to death!! The sons and I lived in KY at the time. I was visiting my mom in GA at the time and get this mom... I have been in a wreck phone call. Thank God the EMT's that came to the site were friends with my oldest son and called him real quick. I was a blubbering mess I was so worried. Totalled the PT, but Ian had his seat belt on and he didn't get totalled... Thank you God and seatbelts!

When I was dating my now husband long distance, I would fly out to AZ to see him and the car rental place I used always had PT cruisers. I really enjoyed driving them, they were great cars.

Oh my gosh. Thank goodness she's okay.

I'm sorry about your car, though.

Foggy driving conditions can be so, so dangerous. I rant about the way some people drive in the fog nearly every time we have a foggy day. (Mostly about why on Earth people refuse to put their headlights on.)

She was so lucky to have only minor injuries.

I know from experience, though, that when you underestimate the weather conditions and it leads to any type of trouble while driving, you tend to learn your lesson quickly.

I had a scary moment on black ice once and now I am so much more cautious & aware.

Hugs to both of you. I hope she feels 100% again soon and hugs to you because it must have been terrifying to receive that phone call.

I am so glad DW is okay. Your car looks sad. But - it did what it was supposed to do - protect it's precious cargo.

My husband really, really tried to talk me into a PT Cruiser after I flipped my VW Passat on its side a number of years ago. (I killed my beloved mini-dachsund in that accident. )

I went with a Jeep Grand Cherokee instead. I just couldn't 'feel the love' for the PT Cruiser.

Glad to 'see you' on the board. Don't be a stranger!

Glad to hear DW is OK! I have a PT cruiser as well- 13 years old. Insurance agent just told me today I should take the collision off since at this point it would be totaled.

We had some engine/battery issues last year with it and DD's school mates called it the PT Loser because of that.

Now as for this young lady:

Also, when I'm alone in the car I have a nasty habit of not wearing my seatbelt so those days are over.

THIS is what you need a lecture about, not the lack of insurance! Naughty naughty silly girl! I hope you have learnt your lesson. ALWAYS WEAR YOUR SEATBELT!!!!

Guess you just added a new memory of your TP Loser, the one that saved your DW's life. The damage is bad, but could have been sooo much worse.

I'm so glad she is okay!

I've rolled a car on the freeway. It's so frightening
I'm glad she's okay. Your car doesn't look too bad really. I expected it to be a lot worse
