Oh.My.Land. I was persuaded by some friends to try the cake batter vodka that companies are putting out now... well. It's too good. Yummy.
I'm off to do my 3.1... possibly 4.0 depending on how it goes.

So far, I'm on top of my 20kms/week goal.

How are you all doing? How was Tink?

Got in my long run of 5 miles that I should have done yesterday, but didn't get to, then ran errands with DS since we were both off today. Two more weeks of this program before I start half marathon training never thought I'd say that!

I did Tink yesterday and it was awesome! I hit my goal and I took cute pictures with some of the characters.

Today was a rest day and I plan on doing a 30 min walk tomorrow.

Cake Batter vodka???

Mim- yea for 1/2 training!!!!!

ferfers79- glad you hit your goal & had fun!!! You register for Sept?

Tink was fab! Great course, a lot different from last years, but still great. PR of 2:04:37 for me.
I'm nervous about this week. It's the first week of decent taper distances for me and I'm already feeling anxious about not running so much. Last time I was a w.r.e.c.k. so I anticipate the same this time around. I had better warn my class to keep the nonsense to a minimum for a few weeks.

Today was technically my rest day, but I did a (slow) mile with the kids, since they wanted to hit the playground.

Congrats, Ferfers! (Jennifer?)

I swam 1,000 yards today. My running goal is 16 miles for the week.

I know we'd love to see some Tink pics if/when you're able to share! I told dh I'm putting a Disney event on my list for this next year.

DH and I seem to have started running together. I know he is a lot faster than me and I hate to hold him back, but he hates to run solo. So....we're sticking together for now!

I've asked but haven't heard, has anyone done a Tough Mudder or Spartan type of race? Dh, sis, dd and I are signed up for a Spartan Sprint on June 1st and I'd love to hear from someone who has done it before.

P.S. Cake Batter vodka sounds dangerously yummy.

I have nothing to report on the running front, as I've been sick the last few days. It's not the flu, thank goodness, but I'm exhausted and achy and congested. I wouldn't even be able to walk a mile right now. I'm anxious to get back out there, though!

Regarding the flavored vodkas, a friend of mine was drinking Cookie Dough Vodka when I saw her over the holidays. I didn't try it, but she absolutely loves it.

I went to run this morning but had a cramping leg muscle. Rather than push through it and get an injury, I decided to walk for 2 miles then came home and stretched it.

I have a rest day tomorrow so I hope my leg is good to go on Wednesday.

Casii, I did the Mighty Mud Dash with a 3 friends. It was great and we didn't skip any obstacles. I have to admit that I only managed 1 on the monkey bars, but at least I attempted it! All the other obstacles I managed to do completely.

We are doing the Warrior Dash in March.

I did 8 on Sunday, felt lazy and did nothing yesterday but I'm getting ready to do an Insanity workout now. I like my cold temps but it is single digits outside so I'm giving the running a couple days off.
I did a Warrior Dash last fall and had a blast! We've already signed up for another one this year and may do a different, longer one also.

Got a mini bottle of Cake Vodka in my stocking! YUM! Must get more.

Ran/Walked a 5K last night. IT band started to flare at about 2 miles and had to stop stretch and walk a fair amount of mile 3. Really trying to come back from the injury and be smart about it.

I miss just being able to go run. I came home stretched, foam rolled and iced. Feels ok this AM, but not pain free. Will rest today and try again Wed., but will probably force myself to stick to 2 miles.

I'm scared to try all the new flavored vodkas...I might become a sot, lol

I did strength training, my PT exercises and 4.75 miles on my recumbent bike on Monday and it felt wonderful!!!

I have to go to PT today, so not sure if I will do anything extra.

Love love lovin' the treadmill I just got. Especially since it was 7* when I got up at 0600 this morning.

14 mile week last week, going to do 15 this week. Also trying to set a schedule to loosely adhere to, Monday walk hills, Tuesday speed work, Wednesday cross fit type workout with running for 2 minutes between sets just to keep the cardio up. Thurs is slow and easy 3-4 and Friday whatever I feel like doing.

That's why I have so far, with a long run Saturdays.

Of course, that will all depend on how I hold up! Lol

mad_madam - that is awesome that you are starting to train for a half. I've been flirting with the idea, but not ready to commit yet. Good for you!

ferfers - congrats on Tink!

lilbug- awesome pr!

spongemom - I wasn't sure if I should mention it or not, but it was THAT good.

Casii - I've heard of them, but never brave enough to sign up for one. Good luck with yours!

Janeliz - hope you're feeling better.

Sarah- I now have a bottle chilling in my fridge. I think it would make a perfect birthday present!

Candygurl - YAHOO!! That's awesome!!

And there's the baby so my responses are done now I guess. Time to go bundle her up and get outside for a bit.
Hope you all have a great day. If it's warm enough, I'll be getting my miles in outside, if not, back to the dreadmill.

Just got a second to add... someone had been asking about sports bras for bigger girls on a previous thread, and I wanted to make sure they knew about Panache bras.
I'm a busty gal with a small band size and the Panache sports bra is nothing short of amazing. For real. Think 34GG and it holds 'em in locked, loaded, and best of all - no uniboob. It has a clasp on the back to allow it to switch from regular to racerback - which is a must since I'm addicted to Lulu cool racerback tops for my runs.

Panache Bra

The pic does not show it with the racerback clasp done, but if you look really closely, you can see the clasp thingy on the left hand side. Seriously. This bra has given me my confidence back in my work out clothes.

Beth, there are many days I WISH I were a negative bra size. Boobs are seriously overrated. I hope to get a reduction in the very near future.

Just finished my 3.1 for the day. 60kms in for the year so far. My longest streak yet. I hope I can continue it.

Never had a problem with boobs, I have a pair that look like 2 fried eggs I take all the padding I can get

KayakMama - I keep vodka in the freezer It's really good super cold, and you don't need ice cubes so it doesn't get watered down The nicest cake flavoured vodka we buy is the Three Olives one - bonus is that it is made in the UK, just like me

I did my 2 miles this morning, and tried upping the pace a bit. Managed to complete it in just over 19 mins, so really pleased. I shall do another 2 miler tomorrow, and maybe see if I can beat myself

Hey ladies - got back late last night or early this morning depending on how you want to look at it from Tink.

What an amazing weekend! I'm never going to want to run anything but a Disney race after that!

I came in at 2:36 which is far, far from my PR but was faster then I expected considering I stopped for pictures with ALL of the characters and took 2 potty stops in the parks! LOL!

Ran with Sean Astin for awhile on both races kind of accidently. Super nice guy.

Had a very special celebratory lunch with some new friends afterwards.

I'll post some pics when I get them on my computer.

Five weeks until Princess.....then Dumbo in the summer....it is sold out just like I had thought it would. Craziness....

I did 45 minutes of speed work on the treadmill yesterday, and CrossFit today. Read an article over the weekend about Had to modify it a bit because what I thought was a tweaked muscle might actually be a popped rib. Calling the chiropractor in the morning!

One month from today I will be leaving my frigid Canadian home to fly to Florida for the Princess Half. It can't come soon enough for me. I am beginning to forget what it feels like to be warm.

I'm snickering because the low tonight is supposed to be in the low 40s and we're all talking about the "cold" front. Thin blooded Floridians.

candygurl - which plan are you using? Care to share? Just want to sneak a peek at one and see how scary it is.

If the weather suits, I adore running outside. I gave up caring what people thought of when they saw me when I realized, Hey,I'm running and they're not. Believe me... before I started and still to this day, whenever I see someone out running I think, Damn, I wish I were them.
I also live in a big city and usually run by myself or with the baby, so I stick to a rather yucky section of trail. It's a major highway on one side and a wildlife reserve on the other. I'm completely visible to a highways worth of drivers the entire time and it also has a huge dog park attached. Makes me feel better if someone ever did try to attack me that there would at least be LOTS of witnesses. Safety first.

NOOOOOOOOOO. I have 12 days until the Surf City full and a nasty chest cold is settling in. I've never felt something like this coming on before. I've got a doctors appt for Thurs afternoon (I made it this morning just in case). I got EmergenC this afternoon and have taken one dose. My chest is super tight and my throat is raw from coughing.

Any suggestions? I'm so frustrated.

Have you tried the one that tastes like Fruit Loops? It tastes just like the cereal! Very strange.

I ran what I think was about 5 miles tonight. I wouldn't know for sure bc my dumb phone's GPS crapped out on me AGAIN. It says I was running a 22min mile. I'm pretty sure I was running faster than that!

I can't plug it enough...the Marathon du Medoc is awesome. Dh and I did it on our honeymoon and hope to do it again.

"In one single loop, this Marathon winds it way round a stunningly beautiful circuit of over 50 chateaux. The day of the Marathon, with the show before the departure, the events during the race with over 90% of runners in disguise, some 52 other events alongside the race, 22 refreshment stands, 21 food stands and special gourmet stands (oysters, ham, steak, cheese, ice cream, Medoc attic, etc.) and the presence of hundreds of disguised and delighted school children." - website

And looking at the map for this year...20 wine stops along the way!

3 miles are planned for today, such a busy day later but I will squeeze it in. Maybe I will run faster if I have less time to workout

here is my plan:
http://www.marathonrookie.com/support-files/10weekhalfmarathonschedule.pdf

i just scoured the internet trying to find a plan that will work for me. i am not 100% sure i want to/can/will be able to do the disney one in september so most likely i will do the rock n' roll one here in my state. so, i can repeat weeks if needed.

Vodka that tastes like Fruit Loops? Marathons with wine and food? Good Lord! I am sooo sticking with this running thing ha ha.

Got my 3.2 miles in today and signed up for the Nike Women's Marathon 10K. You can do it from anywhere, just run the miles on March 9 or 10th and sync your Nike+ app to the site. Eeek. Mildly scary as I've never attempted 10k before, but feeling confident I can totally do it by then, if not sooner.

I did 7 miles on the bike today, riding to a friends house and back.

Having wine stops would be fab in any race - it sure gives you an incentive to make it to the next stop

Six miles on the treadmill tonight. We got a Roku box for the TV that's in front of the treadmill in our basement, and DH set it up today. Having a plethora of entertainment sure makes the miles on that thing more bearable.

We're doing the Color Run Saturday. It'll be her first 5k. I'm sure we'll have to walk part of it, but she's really looking forward to it!

Yea got in my 3 miles! I realized during my run I run faster on major streets instead of alleys because the cars driving by give me incentive to keep running and not be slow. Kind of weird but it works!

Got in 3.4 miles tonight on the treadmill - way to cold for me outside, but I'm a wuss when it comes to being cold!

I'm using the Hal Higdon 10k training plan right now and will be starting his half marathon plan when I'm done - I really like his plans and they are very adaptable and not overwhelming for me.

You know what's really good? Marshmallow vodka and orange juice. Like a delicious, alcoholic creamsicle. YUM.

So on Monday, I did Zumba!
Yesterday, DH and I went for a brisk 1 hour walk.
Today I did some more Zumba.

I want to lose 20 lbs before our Disneyland trip in April. We'll see how that goes.

*adding marshmellow vodka and orange juice to my grocery list*

Rest day for me. Just going to do a yoga dvd and take the baby for a walk. It's feeling tropical here today. Only -4Cel

That 10 week half training schedule looks awesome!! I just may give this a try. I was googling the Nike Womens Marathon in SF and I would totally do a half if I knew there were Tiffany necklaces on silver platters being handed out by tuxedo clad firemen at the finish line. I'm easy like that. Hubby says we should look into it ha ha. He knows I'm a sucker for goodies like that. Even the 'finisher' t would be enough for me to aim for it.

That race sounds like fun, kayak mama. I heard there's a sports bra exchange aid station too.

I swam 1250 yards and then went to yoga but the friend I was going to meet there flaked out on me so I left after 45 min and got 2 miles on the mill done before I had to pick up my son.

That race sounds amazing though. How long did it take to do it with all the stops along the way?

A long time! We stopped and took pictures, waited to fresh steak to be cooked...but we made it under the six and a half hour mark, so we got our bottles of wine at the finish. We did it with my inlaws running group, since we are from the bay area they all dressed in tie dye. Since it was our honeymoon dh and I dressed as bride and groom.

Oh wow! How much fun! And fresh steak along the run....perfect!

I really feel like I am done with the "serious" stage of my running career. I've done the hardcore running, always aiming for a PR, etc and now I just feel like I am at the point where I want to keep running becuase I love it but I want to do races where I can relax and "play" along the course. I think that's why these Disney races are calling me....lots of stopping along the course to enjoy. Maybe one day I'll get the drive back to go hard again but right now, I want to do these "fun" races.

Mixing it up is probably a great way to do it.

I guess I just know that with the injuries I have now (not from running) I will never be able to beat my PR's and its discouraging to even try right now so if I'm sort of playing a mental game with myself....if I go to these "playing" type races then there is no point in even trying for a PR. Besides, these suckers are expensive so I don't want them to be over too soon! LOL!

DH and I are also mix it up types when it comes to the races. He's doing his first half marathon in a couple of months, and we're planning on stopping at every mile marker and taking pictures. We're also doing Disney next year, and I'm already thinking about the costumes.

We've got a couple of other races this year that are going to be for time. Generally, they are smaller and cheaper than some of the other ones, which, if they're smaller, makes them easier to PR in (in general; depends on how hilly the course is) because there are less people to weave around.
