It was good, and sad of course, but no crying here. I'm not a crier. |

I always. Ry at the end. But the movie only brought a few tears for me because their singing wasnt nearly as beautiful as the play.
I just killed me when Fantine and Eponine came to take Jean Val Jean. The soprano (Fantine) with the alto (Eponine) just cut me to the core. In the movie, Anne Hathaway sang most of it and I didnt like her voice.

I didn't cry! I usually don't cry in movies especially if I am in public. There were moments that were sad but I felt bad that I didn't get as emotional as others in my family did. I kept thinking maybe I missed something. |

I'm not even sure what part people were crying over?
SPOILER ALERT
1. When Anne Hathaway sang "I Dreamed a Dream". Big tears and a runny nose for that scene.
2. When Eponine died. Not quite the ugly cry like when Anne sang but the tears rolled.
3. The little bugger, Gavroche gets shot and it is hard seeing a little boy shot down like that. More tears
4. I know there were more but the final cry was Jean Valjean dying.
I went through a few napkins. |

I cried.
I cried when Fantine sang I dreamed a dream.
I cried when she died.
I cried when Eponine died in Marius' arms.
I cried at the barricade.
I cried when Marius had survivor's guilt.
I cried at the finale when Jean Valjean joins Fantine.
Sobbed.
But then I am an emotional person.

I cried. I have had the soundtrack for 22 years and still was moved. My friend who has never sat through a movie with me without a potty break made it the whole film without a trip to the ladies room. I teased her that it was because she cried all the liquid out in tears. |

I did and I've seen the play three times. I took my eighty year-old father, and I think seeing him cry did me in a bit. I'm not a big crier at movies. I remember when Titanic came out and many people in the theater were crying. For some stupid reason I got the giggles and got a few glares.
But Les Miserables has been a story that has been part of my life for a very long time. I read the book twice (once unabridged and once the abridged version), I've seen the play three times, and even have the movie that came out a few years ago. I first read the book when I was a sophomore in high school and it stuck with me. Such an amazing story of humanity and how one person CAN make a difference. |

Strange. Like others, I've seen the play many times as it is my all time favorite. I've never gotten that emotional during the play. The movie? I'm thinking it was because we got to see up close and personal the anguish on the faces etc. I was not terribly impressed with Russell Crow, but when his character laid his medal on Gavroche, I thought the big ugly was coming! |

I cannot make it through a stage performance without crying my eyes out in several spots however no tears were shed during the movie. I think Anne Hathaway's singing and overacting were key contributors as to why that did not happen.

I cried at the end. I thought I might cry during "I Dream a Dream" but I had heard Anne's version too many times before I saw the movie so I didn't get emotional. I started to get misty during "Empty Chairs at Empty Tables" because it made me think of Sandy Hook Elementary School and I'm still dealing with my feelings about that. But at the end when Fantine takes Jean to "heaven" and everyone is there. That got me going. |

Didn't cry. Thought the music was terrible and ruined what could have been a good movie. Couldn't get past how bad the music was.
ETA: 7 people walked out of the theater during the movie, I'm assuming, from boredom and 4 got kicked out for doing the dirty in the back row. I teased my dh that by the end of the movie, we would be the only ones left in the theater.

Usually I'm a sappy crier but I didn't cry at this movie at all. However, I was trying hard to understand the words in the songs to be able to follow the story.
There were times when I felt incredibly sad for what was going on in the movie but I was so intent on keeping up that I couldn't cry. Now that I know the story the next I watch it (and there will be a next time for sure) I'l probably cry. |
