I knew how to use the old itunes pretty well.
Now that I have the new itunes, I'm so frustrated! Shouldn't they make it more user friendly with each upgrade?!?
I'm not horribly tech savvy so that could be part of the problem!
I put a cd in my computer and uploaded it to itunes. Now I want the music on my iphone and I can't figure it out.
I have the box checked for Automatically sync when this iphone is connected.
There is also another place that has a Sync Music check box. When I try to check that box I get the message "Are you sure you want to remove existing music, movies, tv shows, and tones from this iphone and sync witht his itunes library?" Do I want to do that?
ARG! I need help!
Thanks so much if you can help (or ever say "Well, bless your heart!"

Seriously, I wish I could help you, but iTunes and I don't play nicely together. I always have to ask my kids to help me, if I asked DH he rolls his eyes and huffs and puffs at me |

If I am not mistaken, while your library is open, when the computer recognizes your iphone, you can drag and drop your music into it. |

Yes I would just do what Sharon said. Dragging and dropping the files is the easiest way.
I never really liked auto-syncing to begin with. I have a feeling that auto-syncing a CD is why it could be messing up vs. auto-syncing your files to library on your computer.

It's funny you mention this, I just spent the last 2 days trying to figure it all out.
Are you using iphone or ipod?
Since I used to use the ipod on another computer I had to erase it and synce it with the computer. I've never been able to figure out how to get around that.
Not sure if that helps. |

The new iTunes is hideous. I got along very well with the old version but since the upgrade it is a nightmare. All I wanted to do was add a new CD to my phone and it took me four hours to do it. iTunes did not recognise my iPhone as an existing device so thought it was new to syncing with that computer, so I got the 'erase everything if you continue with the sync', warning too. I ended up going ahead, with all the music being wiped out, then I had to reselect all the music I wanted on my iPhone again, then sync. It took hours to do. There was no facility to drag and drop. Horrible, horrible broken iTunes.
Absolutely no help to you, OP, but I feel your pain! |

Add me to the list of peeps who thinks the Itunes interface is NOT user friendly! Google has been my friend when I get stuck. Hope you can figure it out.

Have you changed your Apple ID recently? Also, iTunes looks to see if your tracks are checked for downloading. That's a fairly recent change in iTunes that let's you move just some of your music to your other devices. What version of iTunes are you using on your computer? Are you syncing your device over wi-fi or is it plugged into the computer. What make of computer are you using.
I'm far from an iTunes expert and don't like the newest version. It seems like some of the features from earlier versions didn't become the default. Under View, you might want to click on "Show Sidebar." Then click 'iTunes Store' and check what apple id you are using.

PunchPrincess ( def. A long, long time ago when I first started scrapping I discovered punches -- round, square, squiggles, cars, etc. You name it. Like coat hangers they multiplied, under the bed I think until they were threatening to take over that precious space that we all covet and refuse to cede to other family members. Thus I became PunchPrincess. )

Ugh. I'm with you. I hate the new itunes. Takes me forever to do anything. And I don't want to do anything with it anymore, because it irritates me so much!!!

I'm sorry but I can't help. My solution to these problems is to take everything over to the Apple store and say "help". |

I hate the new itunes too, it's far less user friendly than the old version - and even that one was pretty complicated at times. I did watch the tutorial video though for the new version & that helped answer a bunch of questions |

O.M.G. My DH is going to be soooooo happy when I tell him about this thread.
He has been a stomping, spitting, cussing maniac since they reformatted iTunes. First of all it deleted his 500 uploaded CDs, then after spending a week reloading them, he is having the worst time syncing them to his iPod and iPhone.
Every time I hear the words '*$*^&#@! Apple', I suddenly find a lot of things I need to be doing, preferably out of the house!!! I have to admit, I thought it was just him. He is not tech savvy at all, but doesn't like it when I figure it out for him, so I just leave him to his little hissy fit. Thanks for posting

I hate the new ITunes as well. I have my phone on the cloud and don't even bother hooking it up to the computer. I do have an old iPod I hook up that isn't on the Cloud though. There are a few things I have that aren't able to connect through the Cloud for some reason.
I would go ahead and erase and just be sure everything you want on there is checked.
I95 I would be lost if my uploaded CDs were lost.. I have to back them up to HD now that Im thinking of it because I got rid of all my CDs and tapes. I moved from a 6 room home to a 1 bedroom apartment. No room for anything extra! Thanks for the warning/reminder! |
