Hi all - I know folks are probably with mixed thoughts on this but here goes. I'm looking for a monitoring type system that will allow me to monitor text messages and laptop viewing. I've done a little bit of research and I haven't found one system that will allow to do both. The purpose is to view the kids messages and what sites they are viewing/visiting.
Does anyone have any information on this? Have you used anything before? Likes/Dislikes?
I know that some may think there are privacy issues, but in this case I'm the parent and any bit of protection is better for all.
Thank you. | |

Did you look at bSecure? I think it will let you monitor both as long as they use your wifi. Not sure if there is one thing that would do both if they are using the data plan though. |

I found my router came with a great program called "OpenDNS". In that program, I can completely block specific types of sites. I also get a daily log of sites accessed on the network. If a blocked site is tried, the person gets a block warning and I also get an email.
The only problem I've had so far is that because I chose gambling and one other thing sites related to horses were blocked and Sports Illustrated was blocked because of their annual swimsuit edition. I had to tweak things by entering specific sites I knew were okay that were "exempt" from the global blocks.
The only thing I know about instant messaging/texting monitoring would be to use a key capture device that captures every key stroke entered. |
