My new dentist is fantastic. Same office we've been going to for quite a few years, but our other dentist moved on, so we've been added to the list for the new dentist.
This was my first filling with him. It went well (I have dental fears), he froze me really well, and I didn't feel a thing the entire time. He was constantly checking to make sure I was ok.
But MAN! I hate the "freezing leaving my face" feeling! I haven't had an upper filling in years, so it just feels SO weird. My whole left cheek feels poofy, and DD is laughing at me because that side of my mouth is kind of droopy and not moving.
I've reached the "cold, starting pins and needles" stage...ick!

Are you talking about the use of novocaine? I have never once had a sensation of freezing, but it has been a very long time since I have needed it.
I would not like what you described, either.

I never heard of the freezing. My dentist gives me anesthesia, which just wears off. No side effects.

I do too.

I think you are talking about the novocaine and it gives me pins and needles too when it is wearing off. I hate it. Sometimes it takes a few hours and I feel it others several.

I honestly have no idea what it is called - we've just always called it freezing.
He put a big ass needle into my cheek inside my mouth, leaves me sit for 10 minutes and then goes to town on my filling.
I have only ever been put under once for dental work - when I had my wisdom teeth out!

We say "numbing" but I know exactly what you mean. Its a weird sensation and I hate how long it takes to wear off. I asked the dentist why they don't have something that can reverse the anesthesia and he said they did, it just has some really dangerous side effects so its not generally used.
I sense impending mayhem.

It is a weird feeling when the novocaine wears off. I hate it too.

How appropriate...I have to get a filling fixed Friday. So. Not. Looking. Forward. To. Friday. Severe dental feels and I WISH he oly waited 10 after the shot. I will seriously be there at least three hours.

I had a crown put on a couple of week ago and they numbed me so much I felt it in my eye! so weird. I also hate how long it takes to wear off. Be careful not to chew on the numb side - you can bite the inside of cheek very easily.
