I've been feeling like everyday is just like the other recently. Sort of like "Groundhog Day." Same thing day in and day out. Not much to look forward to at the moment. Money is tight so I can't go out and splurge on something too outlandish.

I did plan a movie night on Saturday with a group I belong to so we'll see how that goes. The last one was really fun.

I have a feeling DH feels the same way. Not about us necessarily but I know he hates his job. He's gone for 11 hours a day minimum with an hour commute each way. We have dates, but even that's the same thing. We both enjoy geocaching but sometimes I'd like us to do something a bit different.

What do you do to break out of a rut?

I know exactly how you feel. I try to always have something to look forward to. I also always have a project of some sort going. Date nights get blah and I haven't figured that one out. I also look for ANY free events my city has to offer. Even if it doesn't sound that interesting, it gets you out of the house. Plus you never know when you could discover something new. Do you have children? If so, how old are they? I think this happens as the kids get older and don't "need" you as much.

Yah kids getting older could be part of it. They are 12 and almost 16. I'm pretty much a chauffeur at this point. Ha ha. Just feeling blasé about most things. I've felt like this before so I'm sure I'll snap out of it, but maybe part of it is the post Christmas blues too.

We do a day trip. We head somewhere for the day that is out of our norm. No more than 2-4 hours of driving total but a change of scenery, pace, slowed place and time to have good conversation.

I like that idea. There is a little island off the coast here that I've never been to (Catalina). I just saw a Groupon for the boat over that is a good price. Might buy it and then either use it now or save it for DD's birthday in March.

I hear you- I hate when I get like that. Like PP, it's usually when I don't have anything interesting or exciting on the horizon. I look ahead and see....more of the same. Blah!

I keep a pinterest board of things to do nearby us. When I need a pick-me-up, I go to the board and pick something. I have a variety of things on there in different price ranges, time frames, etc so I can usually find something that works. It helps a lot because otherwise we have a free weekend and sit there going, "what do you want to do?" "I don't know, what do YOU want to do?" Having a place to pin all that stuff when I come across it is really helpful.

I am grieving..we lost our mom last week and her funeral was Monday. I spent alot of time with my sister while our mom was in hospice, sharing stories, looking at pictures, sorting thru our childhoods. We've cried and laughed...and thru our tears, started a new business venture. I know it sounds crazy, but we are going to create lockets to "tell our story" and honor our mom. I think I need something to keep me busy and it's something our mom would have loved. http://www.southhilldesigns.com/janicepalumbos
