I have had a 1 1/2" barrel traditional curling iron for a long time and it's been fine. It's now given up the ghost, though, and today wouldn't turn on.
I need to replace it and am thinking about one of the clipless curling wands instead. Reviews online seem to be pretty great and I know I like the look of the curls/waves from them. (Though I don't really understand why they look so different from a normal curling iron.)
Do you use one? Was it hard to learn to use? I am not one of those women who is a natural with hair styling. I can do a couple things well, but that's it. Is anyone else a bit styling impaired but uses a wand successfully?
Any brand recommendations or ones to avoid?

I have one. I think its this one curiling iron thingy
I can't really make a go of it. I was going to sell it on this local facebook group but if you're interested, I'd let it go for about $20-$25. I don't remember paying the amount they're asking online!
I did like the curls it gave me, but I don't have the time really. I did burn myself. It does come w/ glove. It does get very hot.
Let me know if you are interested.
(I'm just flat ironing now.) |

My daughter has a couple of them in different sizes. They are Hot Tools brand with a gold barrel. We bought them at Ulta with a 20% off coupon. They came with a heat-proof glove to wear on one hand. She loves them and is a whiz at using them without needing the glove. I grabbed one to tame a few wild spots one day and burned my hand in four places. There is definitely a learning curve. I guess it just proves a 15 year old is smarter than mom.

On the Bumble and Bumble website they show them using them. It helps to see them in action.
I just use my regular curling iron without using the clippy part. Works just the same!
