It is a first for our family! Finally going somewhere warm for Spring Break. So excited!

We have booked a rental house in the Gulf Trace neighborhood in Grayton Beach, FL for a week in March. We have never been to the area and would love recommendations on your favorite restaurants and activities in the area. We are a family of four with DS13 and DD12 who love outdoor activities. We enjoy hiking, biking, geocaching, water sports, cooking and eating new foods, music...we are game for just about anything.

Thanks!

Rent bikes and ride the bike trail.
Canoe at Econfina Creek near Panama City.
Canoe at Blackwater Creek near the Interstate.
Winery tour near the Interstate.

Check out the communities of Seaside, Carillon Beach, Rosemary Beach, Watercolor, etc. They are full of little shops and restaurants.

Yolo boarding lessons on a lake in the back of Watercolor.
Outlet mall in Sandestin is awesome!!!

Dolphin cruise from Destin.
Shell beach in Panama City Beach

The kids like Angelina's pizza in Seagrove.

It may still be cold in March. Usually the water doesn't warm up until the first week of June, but I like when the waters's at least 85 degrees.

Thank you so much, Schooby!

What is yolo boarding? I am obviously behind the times here...

We did anticipate that the water would be too brisk for swimming, so we decided to pay a little more for a house with a heated pool.

A heated pool will be perfect. We've already had days in January where the kids with heated pools have been swimming.

Yolo boards are stand-up paddle boards. YOLO - You Only Live Once. Here's a link to my favorite magazine.

Scenic 30-A is one of my favorite places to go to the beach. We've been going since Seaside first opened, 20+ years ago. I love seeing the dunes and the lakes as we drive to the different beach communities or ride our bikes on the bike path.

Oh - and there's a new Publix on Hwy 98, so groceries are pretty close now. It used to be a 20-minute drive to Sandestin. Try the Mayfield ice cream and milk.

The best restaurant on 30A is The Red Bar, in my opinion. Love it!! And, it's right in Grayton! (and found out about it on 2peas!)

I love going to Seaside...cute shops, love the book store. There is usually an author there every week once Spring hits signing books...it's one of my favorite things to do - get another book signed at Sun Dog Books in Seaside.

Seaside has a Saturday morning farmers market - you can buy some nice produce for the week.

Spend an afternoon just cruising 30A....each town is so cute, go all the way down to Rosemary Beach.

Baytowne Wharf is fun too, in San Destin. There is usually live cover music & it's just a fun night walking around, listening to music, enjoying a cocktail.

Oooh, thanks for the shopping recommendations, mom2ja2! DD12 and I love book stores. We may have to ship the boys off to minigolf and go-karts for a day while we do some shopping!

Schooby, do you have a recommendation for a shop to rent bicycles? When we went to the Outer Banks, we rented bikes and beach gear for the week and the shop delivered on the day of our arrival and picked up at the end of the week. Is there the same type of thing in this area?

I've seen bike rentals all over - Seaside, Gulf Place, etc. They all have the touring bikes.

DH hates them.

So... we bought an awesome bike rack, and brought 4 bikes on the back of our SUV. They stayed downstairs in our condo.

The Seaside farmer's market is good, and the Panama City one is even better.

And, there's a 1/2 price scrapbook store in Destin.
