good morning all,

let's just say, i'm thankful i'm only taking 2 classes. i feel so lost! i don't know if it's because i have been out of school for so long, because the classes are dry and not interesting (philosophy of educational research and how it's done), or because they are on line (which hasn't been a problem before!) i am also thankful that i'm only working part time so i can have some extra time to get stuff done! it's amazing the amount of things i have to do while john is away.... way more "paperwork" kinds of things. i'm tired. lol

oh, and i got sunburned yesterday at the soccer game. lol i HAVE to remember to bring sunscreen to the tournament next weekend!

denise, let's here the news!!!!!

Chilly morning perfect for working in the garage! I did some last night as it was a burden to get to the washer and dryer. Also today is garbage day so I will be tossing stuff to get out to the road tonight - that is if the back and knee hold up.

I worked with my granddaughter to get the room my niece is staying in ready for her and the baby. Put the changing table in there - all the clothes (3 bags full away) and it looks neat and clean again. My DN is going to have to keep it that way especially when we put up the crib.

With rearranging that room, I also had to move stuff around in a couple of other areas. The house is not how I like it but it is livable for now. Since I rent and my lease is up in May - not sure if I will stay month to month or find another place as this is when the baby is due.

I did go see my mom yesterday. First time in a month since she was moved into the home for ALZ patients. It is a private home with 6 ladies. When I got there I was nervous as I didn't know how she would be - but when she saw me she screamed "My baby girl" and came running to me and hugged me tightly. We had a good visit and then she told me she had things for to do and I needed to leave. That told me she was getting tired of entertaining and I promised her I would be back with some of the kids. I cried all the way home as it was such a special visit and it eased my mind about where she is.

Mom was so excited to see me. And she knew me. What a thrill that was.

Baking Candy Orange cakes for dad today. Have 2 in the oven and they take up to 2 hours to bake. Kitchen is a mess - will clean that up and then start another project!!! Oatmeal Raisin Cookies for my drivers.

denise i'm so happy to hear you had a a good visit with your mom. I hope you will be able to visit more often, and they will go just as well! i'll admit, i'm envious.

i'm looking online at washi tape and dispensers. i've become an addict i think. lol apparently there was an AMAZING deal at costco around the holidays... i wish i had been able to swoop in on that one! i think i'm going to make a dispenser though. saw a couple DIY's on pintrest.

anyone see the show "she's crafty?" It's on ION (west) at 7:30 my time. Every day... maybe 5:30 for those on the right coast? cute show... some interesting ideas... might have to try one or 2. some are hokey so you have been warned!

Good morning ladies!

DENISE - I'm soooo happy for you!! So glad that your Mom knew you and you guys had a great visit! You will be in my prayers for continued good visits & precious time with your Mom!

Alicia - hang in there, maybe the classes will get easier as you settle into a routine. I cant imagine going back to school now...even tho I would love to. I just dont think I have the drive to do it at this point in my life.

Tracey - my daughter is currently looking at houses to buy (she is 22). She has a good job but she has never been responsible for making those types of payments and it scares me that she is thinking about moving right out of our house into a big payment. I wished she would rent for a year or so and get used to all the other expenses that go along with being out on your own first. I know that owning is smarter in the long run but it just worries me.

Patti - glad you guys were safe in the tornado. I didn't realize it was that close to you!

Everyone have a good day!

Kristy: Zach and Annie have been renting for about 6 months. Zach hates paying rent payments every month and wants to put his money towards something that will build him some equity. I get that. The mortgage payments will actually be less than his rent every month but buying a house just seems like such a big commitment for him. He's so young!

Tracey - my son and DIL were 18 when thy bought their first house. It was hard to find a mortgage company that would finance them because of their age. They kept the house for about 6 years and then sold it for a profit.
They have a hard time trying to buy now because of his job taking him all over the place.

Denise - I'm so glad you had a good visit with your mom. My best friend went through the up and downs with her mom and it broke my heart for her. I'll keep you in my prayers.

Alicia - I'm a fan of the tape also. I used to get the 7 gypsies gaffer tape to use. I think they are out of business now.

Tracey - I worry a ton about what Leah and Eric are going to do when they get married. They will both have just graduated from college with her heading to law school. Eric is majoring in Math with a Licensure to teach. They think that he will magically find a teaching job where ever she gets accepted to law school. I've tried to convince them to wait but they won't. It sounds like Zach has a good head on his shoulders.

I'm not much of a football fan but I do enjoy watching the commercials during the Super Bowl. Robbie wants pizza so at least I do not have to cook!

Have a good week everyone!

It is so cold here (to me - which is not normal) its in the upper 30's and suppose to be in the 70's by noon. No wonder I can't shake this cold/allergy thing. I sit by a bay window when I am on the computer and I see pollen flying through the air. My car is covered in greenish-yellow stuff.

I did a little more in the garage yesterday - still a long way to go but I am feeling better about getting it done.

Not much else going on this morning. Congrats to the Ravens and all their fans. Didn't watch the game.

Morning ladies! I am still fighting this sinus crap! My head is crazy stopped up, my face looks swollen to me & my ears are killing me this morning. I'm glad that I dont have my grandbaby today but I do have to take my Mom & Dad to the doctor. My Daddy is pretty much in a wheelchair at all times and my mom cant lift the chair in and out of the car anymore so I get to take them to doctor now. I dont mind at all, its time that I get to spend with them, just me and them.

We enjoyed the SuperBowl yesterday, even tho I didnt really care who won. My DS's future FIL & Step MIL invited us to thier house for a crawfish boil & to watch the game! It was lots of fun.

Everyone have a RAKing kind of day!

Been a busy day and I can't sign in to 2P's on my phone or my computer at work. The phone is operator error.

Tracey - did you get my email. I haven't forgotten your question - as a matter of fact started working on it today and I want to scan in some of the documents I use to send you.

Kristy - right there with you and the funky sinus, etc. I am so tired of it and my nose is so sore. None of the sinus/allergy meds are helping either.

I was beginning to think everyone had left me!

Denise - none of the meds seem to be helping me much. The ones that seem to be of any help I can only take at night because they knock me out.

Chris today we were close to 70! I actually had my windows open. We had rain this morning and supposed to have more this week but the temps will be in the high 60's most each afternoon. I feel for you... I'm not a fan of the cold... especially when it last for weeks on end!

Trying to decide what to do for dinner... just not in the mood to cook period.

Morning ladies!

Worked out this morning & I'm already feeling the pain!

It is a foggy nasty morning here. Supposedly we are going to get to 68 today but it sure doesnt seem like it. Right now we are at about 52.

I really need to clean my floors, however it is just so nasty outside and with my boys (dogs) I think I would just be spining my wheels. Is that being lazy?

Denise - working out this morning actually opened up my sinus... more so than any of the meds that I have been taking... hopefully I'm on the downhill swing of this mess.

Tracy - praying for everything to work out for Zach on the house.

Going to try and get in my scraproom today... my scrapbooking group meets on Saturday and I need to get organized for it!

Everyone have a awesome day!

Denise and Kristy - I REALLY feel for you both! I started having ear infections/sinus crud about a year ago. It made me miserable so I could not imagine how horrible it is for little ones. Hope you are both feeling better soon!

This weather has gotten all of us confused! One day it is 70 degrees and the next 40 degrees. Storms, snow, sleet....I just wish it would make it's mind up!

Y'all say a little pray for Robbie. I took him to see Dr. Bailey yesterday and he does have a tear in his calf muscle. It is where it joins the Achilles tendon. He's in a walking boot with a heel lift to give it a chance to heal on it's on. Dr. Bailey didn't think he would need surgery as long as he goes easy on it for awhile.
I told the doctor that Robbie had recently started working with a trainer at the gym. Dr. Bailey started to smile and asked Robbie, "how hot is she?" I just about fell out of my chair laughing! Robbie turned every shade of red! Dr. Bailey told him to not try to impress the hot girl by being that strenuous again!

I have decided that I MUST get organized better so I will not feel so chaotic all the time! Once we get moved I have this illusion that everything is going to be right where I originally put it, the beds made, no papers laying around and the big one - HALEIGH AND BOB CLEANS UP AFTER THEMSELVES!!!!!!!!! I think the last one is just a dream but hey, a girl can dream!

No word on the house offer yet.

Beau has an ear infection in both ears. Gramma is taking the day off tomorrow to babysit while Zach and Annie go to school. I saw him tonight and he was miserable. He definitely needs some Gramma lovin'.

Guess we are all getting our butts kicked with allergies/sinus. My head is hurting so bad - the facial pressure is the pits. Tried ice but that didn't work - next will try heat. I thought about using my tens unit but not sure how that would work. Vibrate it loose!

Hope all feels better tomorrow. Tracey - sending Beau some extra grandma loving so he feels better too. It is so much worse for little ones.

Hope Beau feels better.

Denise - Praying the negotiations go great! Hope you are feeling better soon also!

Tracey - poor little Beau! I'm sure he loves Gramma's loving is just what he needs!

Chris - I found out riding the high school band bus just how stupid teenagers think we are. I'm really NOT good with smart butted teens!

Well, I THINK we actually might have a concrete move in date! Next weekend! The kids are out of school on the 18th and 19th so a long weekend is just what we need to get moved. Robbie will not be able to lift the furniture or carry heavy stuff but with his friends, Haleigh, Leah, Eric and Bob, hopefully we will get everything moved with out any of us having a heart attack! I have 85% of the house packed up and have had it packed up for months. Now I have got to push to finish it all while trying to clean and organize as I go. All I feel like doing the last couple of day is sleeping. Got to get up and get going!!!

Patti...YAY on the move!!

So...yesterday...here's my report on the student in my room....this is what I SO wanted to say.

Attn High School student in my 6:1+1 class. Don't lie to me because this is not my first rodeo, sweetheart. I KNEW the nurse didn't tell you to text your mom to come get you because you had "pink eye"..which you DON'T. When I called the nurse in front of you and then your mom...PRICELESS....

Good luck tomorrow with the consequence of texting and then not turning over your phone...

On a side note....the "deer in the head lights" look was great today when you knew you'd been caught.

Teenagers...

Good afternoon ladies! Just a drive by post today because I wanted to share the recipe I promised Chris I would share for Cinnamon Roll Cake. I made one last night and it was great! I had to bake it for a little longer than the recipe called for but I think that was because of the pan I baked it in. It was good warm right out of the oven and was also good today. Everyone here gave it a thumbs up

Cinnamon Roll Cake

3 cups flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 cup sugar
4 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 cups milk
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup butter (melted)

*Topping
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup brown sugar
2 TBS. flour
1 TBS. cinnamon (I added more, we like cinnamon)

*Glaze
2 Cups Powdered Sugar
5 TBS. milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Preheat oven to 350. Spray 9x13 pan with cooking spray and set aside.

In an electric stand mixer, add flour, salt, sugar, baking powder, milk, eggs and vanilla. Once combined, slowly stir in the melted butter. Pour into pan.

For topping, in a large bowl mix the 2 sticks of butter, brown sugar, flour and cinnamon together until well combined and creamy. Drop evenly over the batter by tablespoonfuls and use a knife to marble/swirl through cake.

Bake @ 350 for 28-32 minutes or until toothpick comes out nearly clean.

For glaze: In a medium bowl, mix the powdered sugar, milk and vanilla with a whisk. Drizzle evenly over the warm cake. Serve warm or at room temp.

Hope you enjoy! Have a great week!

Chris - I was thinking the same thing about the bundt pan. I think I would do 1/2 the batter and 1/2 the cinnamon mixture then the rest of the batter/cinnamon mixture on top. I might have to try this - sounds like a nice breakfast bread too!

Took the day off to babysit Beau who is suffering from a double ear infection. He was so sad all day! Not whiny or cranky, just sad. I got lots of snuggles in though as all he wanted to do was be held.

Zach's house offer was counter offered at 2000 more than he offered. He's excited and will probably accept the counter offer tomorrow.

Big snow storm headed our way tomorrow and Friday.

Chris and Denise,
It probably would work in a bundt pan, probably even better than in the 9x13. I like Denise's suggestion of batter, filling then more batter. if you girls try it let me know.

Seems like everyone is buying houses lately. My niece and nephew are scheduled to close on their houses this month. My niece Kris and her husband are buying one about ten minutes away from me and my nephew is buying one in Morgantown, where he is a firefighter. It's the city the university (WVU) is located and is about an hour away. He couldn't pass it up. As a city employee, they gave him 10,000 dollars to buy in the city, which will be a big chunk of his down payment. He only has to agree to live in the house for five years, then he is free to sell it. He's recently taken up woodworking and has built himself a beautiful coffee table and two matching end tables so far. So proud of both of them.

I saw on the weather last night where you Northeasterners may get pounded with snow again. Stay safe and warm.

Slept in today - blood pressure off the chart again last night so I guess I needed some rest. Haven't had a stressful day so not sure what is causing it to go up unless its the allergies.

Not to hopeful on the house. But if it is meant to be everything will fall into place nicely.

Denise - watch that blood pressure!!! You have such a big heart taking care of others, remember to take care of yourself also!!! Praying for good news on the house!

Tracey - glad you had so good snuggle time with Beau. Poor little guy - hope he is feeling better soon. Excited for Zach and Annie!

It was 72 degrees here yesterday and today the high is suppose to be around 50. This weather is killing my poor old bones! Today is a wrap your body in a electric blanket kind of day. I really wish it would make it's mind up. With my luck, the weather will change to 35 degrees with a ton of rain for the weekend we are suppose to move.

Hope everyone's week has been good!!

Zach got the house! Needless to say, he is very excited. Offer is contingent on a home inspection and financing but hopefully all is well.

No storm action yet. Freezing rain is supposed to start anytime now. If we get what is called for, tomorrow morning will be a mess.

Beau is feeling much better. Tonight he was a completely different kid than yesterday. Amazing what a few doses of antibiotics will do.

Christine and Tracey - stay safe and warm.

Congrats to Zach one the house. So glad he is getting an inspection. I have requested an inspection that cost a little more but detects mold and inside the wall issues. I am not going to do it until I know everything is set to go.

Had rain last night and is looking like more this morning.

It's a SNOW DAY! We got about 8 inches overnight and about 8 more inches expected today. I was supposed to travel today to help with participant selection for a new employment program but instead I'm sitting on the couch in my jammies.

I need some help! I'm seriously addicted to Candy Crush. It's taken over my life and I have a difficult time stepping away from the iPad.

Tracey, stay safe. We have yet to get anything. Oh and I hear you about Candy Crush. If you were on Facebook I could send you some lives. LOL.

We have no snow here. Yet.

Prayers please....my only living aunt (dad's older sister) is very ill with pneumonia. She is 83 and in the hospital. Her five boys were all called in as they are contemplating a ventilator. I am just so sad for my father. This is his last sibling out of 4.

Thanks...weather here is NUTS

I normally don't ask for favors here but I'm breaking my own rule! My son Caleb & his fiancee' Brittany have entered a contest. If everyone will please go to this LINK and LIKE their pic ON THE LINK! it takes 2 seconds and the top 5 couples with the MOST likes on the picture win! AND of course they are the cutest couple anyway!

Dang it.. probably because it was a link to Brittany's FB page & you have to be her friend. I tried it again with the pic from my page but I'm not sure it will work.

Well...it's still snowing...not as heavy snow as yesterday! We probably got about 8 inches. I am off to a friend's house today for a few hours of scrapping/card making etc. I have a scrap album to do for my sister in law's nephew. It's for his HS graduation and I have yet to get it started....

Morning - been buried under grandkids and animals. My DD went out of town for the weekend and I had to stay with her bunch. Now from all the animals and fur I am sick as a dog with my allergies. I took the kids to the park to play for a couple of hours - had a picnic lunch and then came home and watched DVR'd shows of Criminal Minds. Love me some Derek what a hottie!

Off to church then lunch with friends. BBL
