FYI this says spoiler alert, i have no idea what happened, or if that statement was even true? I was asking a question if it was true, how the hell myshelly do you get I was being rude for asking a question in a spoiler thread?
I don't have pbs in this part of town funding has been cut, I have no idea what episode is being showed on pbs.
Obviously since I asked about it is because I didn't know.Otherwise I would not have asked?
TSC thank you, this is so confusing with several spoiler threads on here and different statements about the show. |

Bummed to know what is going to happen later on, but having it available on DVD and having aired in GB, it is surprising it took as long as it did for me to find out.
I thought tonight's episode was good. After what happened last week, you knew nothing really big would happen. I am glad the Prison story is ending. Way too long. |

Is there any way the op can change the thread title? Not a surprise to me as I accidentally stumbled on this on a UK site (searching for Downton hairstyles!), but would hate for anyone else to have the season spoiled coming in here thinking they were going to only discuss tonight's episode. |

Maggie,
Please remove your post - I don't know if it is accurate or not, but it's not cool... I watched tonight's episode and came in here to discuss that one.
Sandy - can you put a warning in your thread title that it contains possible spoilers for the whole season?? |

Okay, I'm really upset about that spoiler! I thought I was safe because I just got done watching tonight's episode and come to find out one of the biggest, worst possible spoilers of the whole season was so brazenly dished out. Not good, mlemarrae.
...Of course, this could have been an innocent mistake if she a new fan and doesn't know the chronology of things. I might be mad but I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt. Hopefully she will come back soon and edit her post or delete it. |

I'm sorry I am the OP and this was to have been tonight's episode ONLY!
I missed part switching back and forth from the super bowl.
I'm glad the 'ladies' and 'women' of Downton supported Ethel and Mrs. Crowley.
But what was the dancing in the servants' hall with Daisy?
Caught where Mr. Carson walked in.

Okay, thank-you. I hope it recorded properly. DH had set the DVR to record BOTH Downton and Elementary, and of course, Elementary was preempted by a delay Super-bowl game.
I was in the basement doing laundry and sorting, I had it on the small TV we have down there. |

I'm so glad I missed the big spoiler everyone is talking about. I'm only caught up to the PBS episodes.
I also loved how the women stood up for themselves. Good for them that so many showed compassion for Ethel and her situation. Poor Lord Grantham (sp?) though, I think he is really feeling more and more impotent and left behind while everyone else moves on. Can't be easy. He's getting shot down on everything that bothers him (managing the money from the estate, choosing the knighted doctor over the town doctor, not wanting the baby named Sybil, not wanting Sybil confirmed Catholic, and not wanting the women dining at Isobel's house with her ruined cook/housemaid. Only Carson still sees things the same as he does.
I too am starting to feel sorry for Thomas. He's nasty, but my gosh, when O'Brien plans revenge she really goes for it--killing Cora's baby, now planning on publicly outing and shaming Thomas for his homosexuality. It seems that her revenge is not in line with her perceived wrongdoing. I mean my gosh!
I've heard (from a non-spoiler interview--just a teaser interview) that there will be BIG moments for Thomas' character so I can't help but imagine that they will do with his sexual orientation. Should be interesting. I wonder who all knows. It seems like many do. | |

I really loved the episode. I thought it was appropriate after last week's episode.
I loved the scene when Lord Grantham told Mary how much he missed Sybil. It was heartbreaking when he talked about rushing into tell Sybil her favorite rose was in bloom and then remembering she was dead.

She was mad at the time because she thought Cora was replacing her. In reality, they were looking for a new lady's maid for the Dowager Countess. |

I love the Daisy story line, I love her father in-law, he is so sweet and funny.
Does James like Daisy? It doesn't seem apparent to me, but Ms. Pattmore said they are all in love with the wrong person, so I was wondering if she was implying that James likes Daisy, since Daisy likes the tall one and Ivy likes James, but the tall one likes ivy.
Only 2 episodes left? That doesn't seem possible! |

I don't get the pile-on toward Maggie. The title says "spoiler alert..."
Whether current episode or not, spoiler in the title implies just that - you are subject to reading a spoiler.
I agree with TSC Future threads will include "current show" in the title. It appears Maggie was just asking a question in regard to something she heard so let's just go past it.

I know, I've wondered the same thing. At the very, very beginning I thought he might even be gay and make Thomas' dreams come true. But of course that idea quickly went away. He looks like he's going to be sick when Thomas touches him. Poor guy! He's already said Ivy isn't his type, so could it be Daisy. And why on earth is she so keen on Alfred (thanks Lucy, I was going to say his name is Albert) when Jimmy is cuter and seems to have a better personality IMO. Plus, he just looks better with tiny little Daisy.
My stomach is almost clenched in knots waiting for the Thomas homosexuality thing to explode. The guy is such a weasel but my heart is prematurely breaking for him anyway.

Gale W, I have it qued-up online on one of those file-sharing sites but no, I have not seen the entire season. I have been watching whatever episode is supposed to air here in the US on the Saturday afternoon prior to the airing, and then watching the PBS episode on sunday night.
No rhyme or reason why it has just worked out like that. It makes for good company when folding laundry, lol.
OK, to your offer to PM me with the spoiler. I am soooo tempted. Honestly I never care when someone tells me how a movie ends or spoils an episode for me.
However, Downton Abbey is the one and only show I feel "invested" in, in many years. Kind of like the folks who love West Wing Or Grey's.
I don't think I want to know the spoiler and I totally get why everyone is upset at now kowing whatever it was.
I just don't think that Maggie would intentionally come in here and ruin it for everyone. It sounds like an innocent mistake. That was my only point. And the title does say "spoiler alert." I think it was just a mistake, not a blatant "let me ruin this for all of you."
I may cave, however, and shoot you a PM to spoil it for if I can't watch the next episode before Saturday . Now you've raised my curiosity, lol.

OK...this is getting curiouser and curiouser (which isn't a word..but, oh well...) I didn't see the spoiler so I guess it must have been deleted. But now I'm wondering what it is...
Bates' innocence has been proven and he is coming home... Initially, I thought that's what it looks like but wasn't sure if something might happen to hinder it. The only reason that I know for sure that he's coming home is because they showed it in the previews. And since some other peas have said he's coming home I know this isn't a spoiler.
It was good to see Thomas had some heart when he cried over Sybil's death; but he has been the one character that has been truly selfish and mean throughout the whole series, so far. It will be interesting to see how the writers handle his character in upcoming episodes.
I think Jimmy likes Daisy, too. Alfred is certainly his own person and nothing much bothers him. Maybe that's what attracted Daisy to him.
I got the impression that Matthew was hoping that Tom would decide to stay and take over the tenant farm at Downton, since he has the experience.
Poor Lord Grantham. Even the Dowager disagreed with him. |

Awwee snap. I'm gonna have to watch the next episode tonight since my curosity is going to get the best of me. I read that a certain male character (who I will not name here in case it is part of the spoiler) is leaving the show. If it is he, and they have writen some horrible demise on the heels of Sybil's death I will be so upset.
Loved seeing "the girls" as he called them stand up to Lord Grantham.
