I was out of work December 26th-29th with the flu. I went back after 4 days even though I wasn't close to 100% at the request of my manager. I have 55 hours of sick time as it stood on Dec. 22nd.
I spoke with my manager (I am a supervisor) about making sure that my sick time was put through to payroll. (Only the assistant and store managers can submit sick or Vacation Pay)
On my next three paychecks the 32 hrs. of sick time I am due has not been there. After each check I submitted a HR Escalation and after each one I am told it is being handled. My store manager submitted an e-mail to payroll.
Friday was pay-day yet again...And take a wild guess...STILL NO PAY!!!
Now this has happened once or twice before with a day here and 1/2 day there but this was 80% of my paycheck. To some this might not be such a big deal but as I live paycheck to paycheck I am getting close to being in trouble.
I don't know what other recourse I can take as the Wage and Hour Division doesn't handle Sick or Vacation Pay discrepancies.
Sorry for the long post but I wanted to vent. |

I'm sorry. I know that would suck.
At the beginning of the contract year, I was not paid my salary but did get my one time pays. I got my check withing 3 or 4 days. I couldn't imagine being due that amount of money and waiting 3 paychecks for it. |

Can you call/email Payroll & let them know what has happened? That is really ridiculous that it's gone on so long. |

I have called H.R. as with my company that is the given method to reach Payroll. We have a contact form for our Regional Vice President and I am thinking I might need to take this to him. My store manager has just left to open a new store in Greenwood (I mention this b/c it seems that he is the only one who can get things moving, but even he can't get this resolved) I will be following him shortly for 15 days to help set up this new store. However, I am second guessing my decision now that this has taken so long.
The last time I went out of town for work it took nearly two months to receive my mileage reimbursement. This trip is going to be a hotel and expenses and I can't imagine what the turn around for that will be.
I am never late on my rent/power...anything and I had to call the power company Friday Morning to set up a payment plan!!! I am pulling my hair out. |

In the past, when my employer forgot to pay me for a sick day, I was paid on the spot from petty cash. I hope you get this resolved. |

Katy lou- The Squeaky Wheel?? I do not know the sqeaky wheel. I'm assuming you mean to keep speaking up until something gets done.
I will be speaking with them again this morning. If I don't get a straight answer today, I will be taking it to regional vice president. |

You should ask that a check be cut immediately and overnighted to you, that's how my company would handle a mistake of this magnitude.

That is really poor management on the part of your store. The phrase you didn't know about is "The squeaky wheel gets the grease".
When/if you go to open the new store, put EVERY involved expense on a credit card. Gas, meals, your hotel if the store makes you pay this up front, which they really should not. Then after you submit your receipts you will still have a complete record of expenses to use for follow up.

Scrapmom-Sent you a Pea-Mail back.
Kmk- That was my first request to H.R, I was told that as soon as it was approved by payroll. But nobody will give the means to contact payroll myself.
GeorgiaMom- I have been told that the hotel will be pre-paid, expences to be reimbursed and I am mostly worried about the 35-40 hrs. Of overtime being paid on time. I will definitely keep a record. Thank you i wouldnt have thought to keep anything except the reciepts.
Off to work now. Wish me luck. |

Not sure about SC, but most states have a department of Labor that deals with issues like this. I would find out the name and phone number of that department, call HR again, and tell them if this is not resolved today, you will be contactinng that department tomorrow.
I have worked as a manager in large companies for many years. Even if they can't get the payroll issue resolved, they can get you a petty cash advance to cover what they owe you. |

My dd did out of town travel for her company-a store opening out of town in July 2012. They have not been reimbursed yet after mulitiple requests/inquiries & multiple excuses.
Another co-worker contacted the attorney general's office. That was last week-still waiting for some resolution.
Not sure why these companies do this.

I would definitely loop the VP in. I would email him and cc anyone and everyone involved, so that all parties know what the deal is. Let him know that you are seeking his help in this matter, and would like it resolved asap, and be polite but firm. |

Are you a native US citizen or did you move here from another country? I am curious because I thought that "the squeaky wheel" was pretty universal in the US, not regional. So I am very interested. |

Shitzu momma- Born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina. I had never heard the squeaky wheel. I get the premise but...Now I know....And knowledge is power. Hehe.
Kerry- I am doing just that tomorrow morning.
Littlelamb-I thought about calling the labor department but I have always been one for "not making waves".
So quick update- Again No straight answer, shock and suprise from H.R. with the responce. You still haven't been paid. I swear that had been taken care of. I am suppossed to call in to the HR manager tomorrow for "resolution". We will see. |

If it's retail I'd skip the forms and call the district or regional manager and let them know that you're having a problem getting paid. You need to get paid and they should be able to authorize an immediate check. |

Yikes, thanks for the update. And at this point I'd be requesting that they walk the check over to my desk that very day. And I'd do a follow-up email to all parties involved after the phone call, with what the resolution is SUPPOSED to be, in case it doesn't happen that way. Document, document, document. |
