We did not go anywhere or host anything. Thank goodness since the game ran over. Who else thinks that Monday should be a holiday, or that they should move the game to Saturday night? |

They play it later because of the west coast and it would work out better that way.
Thank you. I was thinking of the Academy Awards and all of those kinds of shows, and they're usually on the east coast timeline. I agree that it should be on a Saturday night if it has to be on at night. |

I'd be for it, I'll take any vacation day I can get!
As I was picking my son up from school today (elementary), I heard a child say to the person picking him up that "Maryann said she was hung over today"! The adult picking him up (not a regular in the school yard), said "Shh...she did not say that". I couldn't help but laugh.

The parking deck I used today was MUCH emptier than normal when I left today. And the elevators were far less packed than normal at the coffee/lunch/coffee times, too! I think a whole lot of people stayed home today. |

I think they should move it to Saturday. Problem solved!
I don't think work/schools should have to adjust their schedule for sports. Sports should adjust their schedules. Not everyone is a football fan (I am!) so they shouldn't have to worry about going an extra day to school because some like the Super Bowl. Just my opinion!

Ours schools around here never have school the day after the Super Bowl. We always have parent teacher conferences.
I love that the schools do that, so kids can stay up late to watch the game. |

I vote for move it to Saturday night. My husband works construction and gets up very early on work days. He's a very regimented person so no matter what (unless there's a true emergency) he's in bed by 8pm. He's not a huge football fan, but he was really disappointed to miss much of the game and not be able to watch it with the rest of us. It's turned into a nice "family" time for us.
As far as a holiday? No. I'm not interested in doing that. |

It sort of is here already. The game comes on at 7:30am Monday morning. There are many, many empty offices around Hong Kong that day until after lunch. Although I learned last year, that even waiting until halftime at 9:30am to start drinking beer - is not a good idea for me. |

No -- following that logic, then the day after the final game of the World Series should be a holiday, the day after the Daytona 500, etc. In my opinion the Super Bowl is no more important than the World Series.

I think it should be moved to Saturday. DH does too. We like watching the game, but even 12 yo DS said it didn't feel special because we were doing laundry for school the next day.
I would like to go out for the game and was invited to a friend's house (DH went), but I stayed home to get organized for the next day. I think moving it to Saturday would be ideal.
I agree that having Monday as a holiday would be nice, but too many places wouldn't honor it and then you have people wanting a Monday for more and more of "their" events.

I don't think the following monday needs to be a holiday. A lot of people don't care about football. I don't see why they can't start the game just an hour or two earlier.

It sure looked like a holiday in my area. There was about 3-4 inches of snow and when I left the house at 5:30am, not one plow had been around anywhere. Usually, at minimum, I see the plows starting to clear but Superbowl Monday nothing was even started. No one had touched the train station parking lot and usually it's done by the time I get there. Thankfully the amount of snow wasn't that big of a deal but it was pretty slippery in a lot of places.
Anyway, I am always for a holiday and a three day weekend but since I doubt that is going to happen, I do wish they would have it on a Saturday.

Man, I don't want to insult anyone, but I just think that's ridiculous. It's football. If you are a huge football fan and that keeps you from being able to go to work the day after the Super Bowl, take a vacation day. I'm not making fun of your passion--I have way dumber things I like to do. Like midnight movie releases. But I take the next day off, not complain that it should be a holiday. |

Yep, definitely looked like a holiday around here too! Traffic was super light and people were being interviewed in downtown SF where apparently everyone called in sick.
The weatherman even said the weather appropriately reflected the somber mood around here that day I thought that was a bold claim, lol.
