So, the "dog nose" that comes with pregnancy-anyone notice it ramp up towards the end? My sense of smell has been lots of fun for this pregnancy. It was quite bad at the beginning, then in the 2nd trimester it sort of settled down. Now, within the past week, it seems to be in overdrive.

I'm honestly just curious if anyone else experienced this, and want to make sure it's going to go away when he's born.

I've been thinking this same thing!! The last 2 weeks I swear my house smells terrible. DH disagrees, and I've been cleaning like a mad woman. Yet everything stinks!!

I had to start shopping in another grocery store when I was pregnant with DD. There was a fresh fish case in there and I could smell it the second I walked into the store.

I've always had a sting sense of smell, but it went into hyper drive with her. When I was on labor, DH used some peppermint lotion on my feet. I had to wash it off, the smell was so strong. I used the same lotion for months after and it was fine.

That happened with my first pregnancy and I swear it stuck around after and through this last pregnancy. (kids are only 22 months apart) The person/thing it has been the worst with is dh. If he is tired or even slightly sick he smells off/gross to me. Also when I am actually pregnant I can't stand kissing him because his breath smells off to me. I'm a week and a half post partum and I am so happy that I can make out with him again without trying to hold my breath.

Senses definitely go into overload. I've been watching your ticker, missed the part where you knew it was a boy. Congrats! My senses did go back to normal, I might even miss them being heightened at times.
On the other hand, I sure do miss the nice hair and nails.

Not long to go, you must be sooo excited.

I didn't have dog nose, but with Jay I did have a super strong sense of taste and I could taste the chemicals in processed foods -- it hasn't gone away.

We have often asserted and we affirm it yet again that no fact in history is better attested than the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. It must not be denied by any who are willing to pay the slightest respect to the testimony of their fellow men. That Jesus, who died upon the cross, and was buried in the tomb of Joseph of Arimathea, did literally rise again from the dead. (excerpted from Dance Your Shoes Off, Second Baptist Church)

With my first pregnancy, my sense of of smell got stronger around the second trimester. We had to switch toilet paper brands because all of a sudden I could no longer stand the smell of Quilted Northern.

This time my sense of smell was much stronger from the beginning -- I couldn't stand the smell of my cabinet with the dry goods such as pasta, crackers, brownie mix, etc. Made me gag every time I opened it. Had to change shampoos, etc. Then I got a bad cold & couldn't smell anything for awhile. But the super nose came back a couple weeks ago (end of 2nd trimester). I swear I can smell someone's wood burning fireplace while in my home, but no one else can smell it.

I have this as a side effects of my treatments but it goes away after a few days. I can't imagine it being permanent.

Grossest to me is our coat closet, as the coats must have a combination of dinner being cooked smells in the fabric. Never noticed this in all my life before.

Thanks everyone! Glad this isn't an uncommon thing (though I am sorry you all experienced it-especially you Super Soda since you still have yours! ). Here's hoping it vanishes soon after he's born!

So that's what happened! When i was pregnant my SIL invited me to go to an aromatherapy party. The smells were so strong, I threw up all over the woman's front lawn. And I never got morning sickness. I have avoided aromatherapy ever since.

I love the term "dog nose!" haha, never heard of it referred to as that!

I had the same experience. Terrible in the beginning and then at the very end! It went away the day I gave birth!! I was SO glad. I hope that happens for you. Dog nose is miserable!
