My friend's Pinterest account has been hacked! Yesterday there were some pins showing up on facebook saying that she pinned them, when in fact, she didn't. I've never heard of that happening on Pinterest before. I told her to change her password and hopefully that will fix the problem. But weird in the first place! |

it has happened to my account in thissummer,butmineisnot linkedtomy facebook. Anyinternet account can be hacked. |

It happened to my friend right before Christmas. They just pinned a bunch of websites. She changed her password and it was fine. |

It happened to me. I changed the caption on the pic to 'BEWARE - this product is the worst piece of crap ever' and it mysteriously disappeared.

It happened to a friend of mine right after I saw something about it here on the Pea board several months ago. She changed her password, deleted the boards that had been created by the hacker. Unfollowed the pinners that the hacker had added, and removed the pins done by the hacker. Took maybe 15 minutes to clear everything and she has had no problem since. |

I've recently signed up for a Pintrest account. A few days after I signed up I recieved an email notifying me that someone had accessed my account from Poland!  I've changed my password and haven't had any problems since then.

WOW! I had never heard of any one saying that they were hacked from pinterest. I guess I shouldn't be surprised!!! |

I'm kindof wondering if mine was hacked somehow.
Every time I log in, I see a pin about some "work at home and get rich" pyramid scheme thing pinned under my name. I keep deleting it (because I have never pinned it), but it keeps showing up.
I have reported it. But, I think I'm going to try Dalai Mama's approach next.  | |

Mine was hacked so I deleted the account and started all over again.
That would be like throwing half my waking hours over the last year in the garbage.
I would be crushed to lose all my pins. |

I can't say my account was hacked, but what happened to me was awful. Every time I went to my Pinterest account, there were pornographic images pinned to my wall. After many days of trying to figure out what happened, I concluded that there were bogus accounts set up on Pinterest for the sole purpose of spreading porn. It was as if I was following the person because whatever they pinned showed up on my wall.
I reported it, sent many emails to Pinterest, which were never answered. The only way I was able to correct it was to disable my account. Changing my password did not help because those porn pins still showed up. I had to create a 2nd email account just to be able to set up a new Pinterest account because if you disable your account and want to re-enable it, it remembers your email address.
I soon found that the fake accounts were easy to spot. The account icon on the porn images that kept showing up was a simple aqua blue box with a white silhouette of an egg, instead of being a photo of the account holder. Be careful not to repin or follow anyone whose icon is generic...a solid color square with white silhouette shape inside. One that I see often is a red square with the silhouette of a pushpin. It seems to me that I repinned a workout pic with the silhouette egg icon and this is how the trouble began. I emailed my suspicions to Pinterest, but they didn't seem to care. My advice, be careful what you repin!

I just got a notification that someone from Thailand logged into my Pinterest account. They locked my acct until I changed the password, which I did.
But, I, too, am wondering why someone would want to hack Pinterest accounts. Why wouldn't they just start their own? I wonder if it's because people that have been on Pinterest for a while might follow, be followed, by lots of people so they can get their crap seen?
