I have an original nook color. I went to plug it in last night and the little "n" on the cord didn't light up. I tried several different outlets, so it must be the cord. I took the cord out of the wall charger and tried to charge it with my PC, but it didn't recognize it when I plugged it in either - so I guess the cord is bad.
I went on B&N this morning to order a new set and it's out of stock! will the other power cords for the Nook HD work on the nook color? I don't have a B&N local to me, so I'll have to order it online, or go to Best BUy or walmart or target to get a replacement - if I can get a generic one, that is fine. I looked on amazon and most of the complaints are that the cords don't charge the NC. I also looked on ebay, but don't really want to go that route if it doesn't work. However, the description of the items make it seem that a charger for the Kindle Fire, etc would also work for the NC. Is that true?

I have the Nook color and DS has the Nook HD...the cords are different and not interchangeable.  |

Check to see if they have the car charger in stock. It's the same cord and you can just take the end off and plug it into the wall charger. Also, if you can wait a couple of days for it, call B&N c/s and have them send you one for free. The cords have been a huge problem since it came out. I've replaced several in the 2 years I've owned mine. | |

B&N phone support had me use me original (noncolor) Nook cord when mine went out. But they ended up sending me a new cord. Which is now frayed due to DH not being careful so I think I'll be buying one soon.
But the phone person said any cord that fit would work, even cell phone. I was pretty surprised. |

Your wall charger should be fine, you should just need the charging cable, and it looks like it's in stock:

My cord got destroyed during our recent move and all I had was my crackberry cable for charging. It shows "not charging" on the Nook color, but it does actually charge it. Try it. Plug it in and check the charge 10-15 minutes later--it will show that it is charging...just not registering.

My power cord got bent at the end where it plugs into the nook. I looked on the website and it now says "not available". Not "out of stock". I went to Barnes & Noble tonight. Apparently the Nook Color and the Nook Tablet are now discontinued, and it will be difficult to get some parts. However, a clerk at my local store checked on the computer and found that they had just received a shipment with five of the power cords. She went out back and got it for me -- it has just been unpacked. | |
