DH and I are going to see one of the movies up for the Academy. We have seen the others or they aren't playing in town.
Which would you go see? |

You can't go wrong with any of them. I am a huge Tarantino fan, so I think I enjoyed Django the most. Just be prepared for LOTS of language.

I'm not a huge Tarantino fan but I also suggest Django out of those 3 choices.

Out of the three I've only seen Django. I'm a QT fan, so I really enjoyed it. |

I've only watched Les Mis, and it was wonderful. I don't think you could really go wrong with any of the three though.

I refuse to see films with lots of violence, so Django was out for me. I don't think it's in the running for best picture anyway.
Les Mis was wonderful. It's not a totally happy film/story, but really well done.
My DH liked Zero. I opted out because of the torture.

I've only seen les mis, but its one I would have been bummed if I missed seeing it in the theatre with the full sound and screen experience. So I would go for that, just to be sure I didn't miss it! |

I've only seen Django out of the 3 ... Depends in what you're in the mood for, but it seems like it would be the funnest out of the 3. |

Well, we took the advice of Creativegirl and saw Les Mis for the big screen experience. I think we'll go see another one on Thursday. We like to see all the movies (if possible) before the Academy Awards ceremony. It makes it more fun to watch the awards!
I think we'll see Django next (It's up for the academy took). So far though from the ones we've seen (Les Mis, Lincoln, Life of Pi, Silver Linings Playbook) we are rooting for Lincoln to win. They've all been good, but we loved Lincoln. |

If it were DH and I going, I would see Zero Dark Thirty.
Les Mis is wonderful and I loved it. Not DH's cup of tea at all though.
We have no interest in Django.

I've seen all three, and as CreativeGirl said, you really don't want to miss Les Mis on the big screen. It's my favorite of the three, but I was already a huge Les Mis fan, so I admit to being biased. And I ditto Silver Linings Playbook as well. There are some really good movies up for the Oscar this year! |

Argo isn't playing here right now I don't think. I was hoping to get it on DVD before the oscars though...maybe I should look around and see if it's playing...

Thanks for the reviews.
Of the best picture nominees, I've only seen Argo. But I'm on a work trip through the end of the month, so I'm hoping to catch a few more!
Either Lincoln or Django today. Maybe the other one tomorrow.
Meeting a friend to see Zero Dark Thirty on Tuesday night.
Silver Linings Playbook will also be seen with the same friend next week.
I'm not that enthused about Les Mis, although it is playing where I am now until Tuesday. I doubt I can squeeze it in, but if I have enough free time on Monday, I might.
ETA: Yes, go see Argo if you have the opportunity!! Great movie! |

Out of those, Les Mis, though I think I'd be sitting in the theater alone as I'm pretty sure DH is not too keen on it. I have no interest in the other two.

While all the films nominated are good movies, I think that there will be a clear favorite.
So far with the other awards it seems to be Argo.
I am really rooting for Lincoln.
Silver Linings, very very good.
If you have a chance to see Searching for SugarMan (nominee for Best Documentary) ..it's just a wonderful story, and a superb documentary. It is out on DVD as of one week ago.
