DD wants a camera. I have a P/S canon that I don't love. Drains batteries, can't even remember what kind it is.
What kind do you recommend I get for her? I'd like to spend less than $100. TIA. |
OK. Newbie. This is how it works. If your post consists of 80% sanity, 10% stupidity and 10% all kinds of crazy, we immediately focus on the 20% b/c it discredits the 80%.

We have had great luck and gotten some good pics with several of the Kodak Easyshares. There are several differrent ones, ranging from $59 and up. There is a cool touch screen one on Amazon right now for $95. They are not the most sophisticated cameras, but they take abuse well. DH had his fall out of his pocket into about 6 inches of snow. I found it 4 days later. It still works great and that was 2 years ago. Very easy to use also. Target, WM, and Best Buy carry several of these, so you can go play with them.
ETA: The one drawback we have found with Easyshare: The software that comes with it is terrible--bloated, buggy, will make the computer SLOW. We made that mistake only once. Use a stand-alone program to edit, etc.

Back in my P&S days, I always used Fujifilm Finepix cameras. They were awesome. But it's been about 5 years, so don't know how they are today. |

I bought a kodak easyshare once, never again. I only buy Nikon or Canon now. Are you using the Lithium batteries? Those suckers last a really long time. If I just use regular duracell or energizer, yeah it drains them pretty quickly.
I got my kid a canon p/s canon camera from amazon this one actually, and its a pretty decent little camera. $72.95 | |

kms-you may be talking about the same one I just saw and that jendeere just linked. I'm going to get it for DD. Looks good. My SLR is a canon and that is what I'm used to so I can help her with it as well. Thanks for the feedback and links everyone. |
