If you are going to have one nail different than the rest, which nail do you make different? Does it matter? And does it matter if you are doing a design on one versus one just a different color?

I was thinking of doing this Valentine's day nails next week, but on a finger rather than my thumb. Initially I thought ring finger, but the more I thought about it, pointer seemed more the thing.

When I do a different colour or a design I usually either do just my ring fingers or my ring finger and thumb. I hadn't seen that post with the heart, that's really cute! I might have to copy!

If I just do one finger, I always pick my ring finger as my accent nail.
If I do 2 fingers, I normally pick the ring and pointer finger. Though sometimes I do the ring and middle finger.

I like the heart, but have an easier way than using tape.

Take a bobby pin
Drop a little polish on a paper plate
Dip pin in polish
Make 2 dots like this * * and draw the design down. It is simple.

Here is a video that shows how to do it:

I have to say that I think it's rather like scrapbooking - it's about what pleases you ultimately. I usually make my accent nails my ring finger or ring and middle finger but I'm not averse to doing other things.

In general only the ring fingers, though I have done rings and thumbs before.

You can do any but the ring finger seems to be the most popular!
