We are doing our taxes now and have run into a problem. I was on unemployment for a while last year. I was also working a part time job so the income from the part time job was being supplemented by the unemployment.
i had the taxes withheld from the unemployment so there is a spot to add the unemployment income but there is no spot in the turbotax program (that we can find) that allows to add the unemployment withheld taxes. as a result, it is reducing our refund amount.
can anyone help???? please????

If you are saying that federal income tax was deducted from your unemployment then why would it not simply go into the section with the rest of the federal income taxes you paid. I have never used Turbo Tax but I would image that you would simply add the amount paid through unemployment to the amount of federal income tax you paid and enter where it asks tax paid.

When you import the info from the 1099 g; are you sure it is not adding the federal income taxes paid to your other statements. Generally you import all the 1099's, W-2, etc. and the info is listed so you can review it. It then adds it all up for the respective sections in the tax forms. Check the taxes paid section and add it up against what Turbo Tax is showing.

Great link Scraps-of-time. Once those handy dandy boxes are checked I'm sure it will add the amounts to other federal income taxes paid. It should also take over to the state and local taxes paid.
